I beg to disagree on the 3-man defence formation. As much as I fancy these 3-man defence formations(3-4-3, 3-5-2) I don't think we have players who can easily adopt it. Playing dis set-up against a pacy and strong team like d lions of cameroun will be suicidal.

We should not be swept away by Chelsea's recent success with the formation. Don't forget despite Antonio Conte's mastery of this formation he had to spend more time(everyday) perfecting things out with his boys and the time factor is not there when it comes to national team engagement.

Atleast If we must try it out then it should be in a friendly with little intensity from both sides, where we have little to nothing to loose or else we should be expecting a clueless defence line...
I am a Chelsea ..but I won't advocate these formation for SE....
it is not realistic and put us in trouble....

Promising Nigerian Defender Named In Manchester United Squad To Face Tottenham Hotspur

Promising Nigerian right back Matthew Olosunde, hailed as the next Dani Alves, has been handed another opportunity to make his first-team bow for Manchester United by manager Jose Mourinho.
The versatile youngster has been included in a provisional 21-man squad for the trip to N17 0AP, where the Red Devils will square off against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.
Last week, the same scenario happened as Olosunde was in London with the first team for the tie against Arsenal, but eventually failed to make the match day squad.
Mourinho rates the United States youth international highly as he invited him to train with the first team before their Europa League meeting against Celta Vigo on Thursday.
The 19-year-old Olosunde played for Manchester United reserves in their 2-2 draw with Arsenal in a Premier League 2 encounter on Monday.
Whether or not he makes his debut against Spurs, everything is pointing to the fact that the teenager will train with the first team during the pre-season.

so Henry...should be tried and see if he can fit in.
you don't shun a good player at this time all because u don't wanna alter team chemistry..... chemistry that is not there yet.

Onyekuru , Kayode and this other guy playing for Hapoel Sheba in Israel seem to be our best performing strikers this season.
please remove that guy in Isreal from the list...
the guy misses goal scoring chances a lot...
I don't rate him as an exceptional striker...
he can't really displace any of our current strikers for now... except he improves on himself

Man City Turn Down Hoffeinheim Proposal To Buy Iheanacho After Proposed Loan Stint
May 12, 2017 Nigeria

IMG_2892
Manchester City have turned down a proposal from Bundesliga side Hoffeinheim to buy Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho after the end of his proposed loan spell.

Hoffeinheim are presently locked in talks with Manchester City over the 20 year old who has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad as exclusively reported by this portal last month.

However a deal is far from reached even though the forward has made it clear to City that he is leaving and the club on their part have accepted his decision, they still want him to leave on loan with no option of a permanent transfer in the summer.

The German side want to negotiate a deal that will see the forward spend a loan at the club before moving over permanently next summer if he impresses ‎, they want the fee for his permanent transfer to be agreed as well.

However Manchester City are insisting on a straight loan with no option of permanent transfer, presumably to strengthen their bargaining power if Iheanacho comes good during the course of his loan spell.

how will you explain a situation where the best in the league...every season rather than stay to consolidate on their achievement whisk to far away eastern Europe... others to Malaysia and Vietnam

the best every season leaves...this alone has affected the league badly...
my hope of harnessing of talents from the home ground have always been the cadet teams like the under 17 and 20

It's a misconception on his part. But you can't blame him. Which is why we can't criticize their choice to go the other way. Understanding Nigeria's culture is another thing. However, unfortunately, there are indeed some Nigerians who will not view them as locals. This is why we need the right minds in the NFF. Those who understand good approaching skills and know how to bridge the gap that some of these abroad-born players may feel exist. Honestly speaking, many of them will turn out for Nigeria if they feel they will be warmly accepted as family.
God bless you bro
the truth one of the reasons rohr is currently having his heyday inviting these foreign lads is because amaju pinnick is favorable disposed to them... the sport administrator (pinnick) has never hide his love for foreign groom and young lads for the SE setup at all...
still remember upon his emergence as NFF president after the AFCON in equatorial Guinea he began to voice calls for young lads and European groom players....and make trip to see these kids parents...I still believe his sojourn played a role in getting iwobi for eagles....
amaju pinnick has really help in these regard

I tell had the NFF had leaders not favorably disposed to rohr's policy it would have been difficult..

Nigeria At World Cup Released By Schalke
Published: May 11, 2017

Through official sources, German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 have announced that they will end their collaboration with Germany international Dennis Aogo at the end of this season.
Aogo has been released by The Royal Blues along with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Phili Neumann, Timon Wellenreuther, Holger Badstuber and Sascha Riether.
The management of Schalke 04 made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday, ahead of this weekend's clash against Aogo's former team Hamburger SV.
Now 30, Aogo revealed that he was approached by the Nigeria Football Federation to represent the Super Eagles in the months leading up to the 2010 World Cup but he rejected their advances.
Aogo explained : ''When I heard Nigeria wanted me for the World Cup, I had to really think about it. I hesitated because Nigerians won't recognize me as a true African, it's a totally different culture from what I am used to in Germany.
''I know many Africans who were born in Europe are now playing for African teams but they are not regarded as locals.''
The left wing-back lists FV Grünwinkel, Bulacher SC, Karlsruher SC, Waldhof Mannheim and SC Freiburg among his former clubs.

100% correct this is at the heart of the problem and indeed one of the very sad major failings of our indigenous coaches.

I will highlight the case of Aluko why do you think he was frozen out after outstanding performances. And why on earth has he not been invited nowhuh huh huh
thank you..
I think snubbing of aluko started during the reign of oliseh through his policy of only calling players playing in top leagues and not in lower divisions
he deliberately omitted the young man and hope akpan with this policy.
aluko was fast getting recognition in Nigeria albeit the introduction of these foolish policy by oliseh...

and presently... he is being omitted because rohr has not noticed him...coupled with the fact the German is not a fan of the English football..
his invitation I believe rest on the shoulders of other backroom SE staffs...should they make mention of him to rohr I believe he won't turn it down...

I believe any player who wanna get into the SE now....should prove better than the current paraded players or offer something currently lacking in the team... especially in attack and midfield rolesa

Please we only need players who will be committed and patriotic.
Any player who doesn't chose Nigeria just let him be.

Beg them to play and we'll continue to beg them to play.

And please keep the discussion civil if you want me to continue in this discussion.
Sir can you please name any of these Anglo Nigerians or foreign lads that we have begged to play for us and keep begging to play for us in time past and present...

the truth is we approach them and not beg them...giving them convincing reasons because them too are concerned about their career security amongst other things

to be honest sir...not until enabling structures are enacted to harness the homegrown talents at out disposal... the labour in vain who dreams and aim to build a formidable super eagles team wit home groomed players...

the best players are europe...there you have players that have been nurtured in proper academics exposed to the dynamics, techniques, nutritional expectations of the round leather game...
a sane society will harness both home groom players and the foreign legion and not disposed one off all in a bid to get the juice out of one...

moreover Nigerians are the most patriotic folks I have ever seen....excluding our leaders please
every one that has a Nigeria blood in his veins shows an allegiance to this country...
I watched Anthony Joshua interview.. he still feel Nigeria... Alaba too. after the UCL triumph.. he shows he still love Nigeria... and many others

so approaching these lads won't be bad idea...Otigba have turned down his mother's nation for Nigeria severally but he still being ignored even during the time of keshi..where he would have break into the SE easily...
so what's the wisdom in them following otigba foot steps?

What if you approach them and they are still not interested? That is what I am talking about.

Look at Gabby Agbonlahon, Nedum Onuoha, Sydney Sam, Patrick Owomoyela, Ugochukwu Ehiogu, . If they chose their country of birth what do we do? Continue to cry?
sir...you said "what if"
let's approach them first....than not do at all
it's just we're just too proud in this country
I read somewhere of Berkeley naming Nigeria as one of the possible nations we could play for at the full international level...
the young man even had Nigeria in mind but none of our officials ever know of him as a Nigerian let alone approach him

let me say this...it is normal for these lads to dilly dally in accepting to play for Nigeria reason because of fear of uncertainties
some of them have never been to Africa... they know nothing about Africa football etc

moreover Nigeria is a big force to reckon wit in football... they know this
so let's approach them first

Thank you.

We need to improve football in the grassroots and our domestic league. But we also need to make provision for special talents groomed abroad.
Winning them over is a win for us. If i'm getting Icon4s clearly, he is saying these special players in question need to first show the interest. Oga i no agree for that one oh. One thing I will never subscribe to is that there is only one way you should catch a fish in the midst of many ways. The idea of patriotism here is not realistic since many of these lads have never even visited Nigeria. Let's be realistic, we will need to do some convincing in some cases.
you're absolutely right... we will need to do some convincing
just that Nigeria is a very proud nation...
it baffles me when we refuse go after these foreign lads on the prism of patriotism....
even the leaders who are being paid juicy salaries and allowances and still bent on milking the nations treasury is not as patriotic as these young lads....

take it or leave it....some of the homegrown talents could have done worse should they've the opportunity like these foreign groom guys

they should be convinced of a great future should they team wit the SE...for example as men we woo after our wives or the women in lives at one point that does not mean we beg them to stay or marry us....

even England in the very last minute still refused to give up on iwobi amidst his decision to play for Nigeria and still keep sending him emails....
