Philosopher1979: Chukwuka Onuwa is a creative midfielder/playmaker who plays for Enyimba yet our coaches keep on ignoring him. The home based coach (imama) or whatever he is called is simply a dummy and totally incompetent. Onuwa should be given a chance. Perhaps he can solve the problem of lack of attacking midfielders in our national team. As bad as our league is, even the good players there are not invited to our national team. The players being used for the home based team are NOT THE BEST PLAYERS IN the league.
I don't know what is wrong with our coaches. The young man is the best midfielder in the premier league according to local journalists and he has even received player of the year. Our coaches might have something wrong with their brain. Maybe the young man neeeds to grow abroad before we recognize him. corruption is the deal world bro... many of our indigenous coaches are too damn corrupt...... sentiments also won't allow them call up the right players... there is a problem somewhere I think |

He was not fully fit... Yet his talent still shown... I prefer Ebuehi to d carpenters, bricklayers in the NPFL easy bro I think he wants us to invest in the league... probably we should set up a 10 man committee to be head by Oga Basco and Forgiveness.... we will try take a loan from the CBN and invest in the league and see how it goes.... So you prefer have virtually 22 men than investing in the NPFL? please direct your question to the NPFL stakeholders it is not Rohr's fault that the league is undeveloped.... it is not rohr's duty to help develop your league... the man has a reputation to protect... he is not like our indigenous coaches who can swiftly bow to pressure and some who can do anything for the sake of their pockets...to include the mediocre players from the NPFL... even Basco who is a supporter and more knowledgeable about the NPFL will not say this words you put up there... you see that Portuguese under 23 league...it is better organized than your NPFL tbh and it is not rohr's fault.... develop your league...cry out to private individuals, develop a map route to making the NPFL a reputable league.... and channel it to policy makers... I can help you on that if you want..... but coming here telling Rohr to pick players all because of sentiments holds no water.... I have worked in the private sector all my life and I have come to understand that what makes many private companies especially foreign owned thrives better than public agencies is because of the emphasis on the key world "competence" and not "sentiments" people.should be called up because they can deliver and not because of sentiments. please allow us enjoy Rohr's tenure in peace. |

wayodude: Guys in the end it's a matter of the heart. I am Nigerian and also British. Had I been a player in a position to pick between playing for either country there is no way on earth I will be as happy banging in goals for England as I would doing it for Nigeria. My heroes are Yekini, Finidi, Okocha etc...
Now...my cousins are dual nationals as well and they will rather wait to play for England until they retire then even think of playing for any other country. Their heroes are Lineker, Gascoigne, John Barnes etc. I don't judge them it's just the way it is...
My son is only 6 years old and as much as I try to make him realise we are Naija first and British second he is naturally more aligned with his British side, from his mum, school, neighbors etc if in the future he was a football player I honestly feel he will be happier playing for England. Who knows eh I will not be happy with you...if your son happens to be a footballer and he later choose to play for England. please take him home sometimes.... tell him stories about our culture and the peculiar nature of Nigeria set ups and make him watch Nigeria football matches..... |

charlesemeka85: That's the problem folks of your kind have. I have severally posted positive reviews on players from the home front.
I have made positive posts on the performance of players likes Okereke even when he was still in serie B, chukwueze, oshimeh, ndidi, Michael Kingsley, Dennis, kalu, onyekuru just to mention a few and of recent Ejike, Azeez and olayinka.
I don't just hype players without monitoring them and if you are tagging me bias because I have so many times disagree with those clamouring for the invite of mediocrity such as azubuike, Nwakali and co then I prefer to be biased all my life I don't know how a young man in this age will still be thinking in such awkward and parochial fashion..... everyone cannot be on same page...some Nigerians talk more on foreign born players here because they live abroad or because they tend to have knowledge of such players more... and some like Basco talk on local groomed players because that's their area of speciality but should be maximized to our advantage. like you used before most Nigerians are so damn proud..... and unable to think both ways. |

Mujtahida: The truth is that football has changed so much. In the past all you needed was talent. Now football is a science. We are still frozen in the past and beyond the structural and infrastrctural problems bedevilling the local league, is the issue of lack of the touch of the finesse of modern football.
I like the old football of Maradona, Baggio, Gullit, Carlos, Yekini just as some people here like our local players but once the time comes for a certain trend of change to take effect, our personal love or attachment to the old ways don't matter much. At last you either embrace change or like Okonkwo in Things fall Apart, you will be cast aside.
The future of our football is in the hands of the foreign born players of Nigerian descent. They are the ones whose talent will have been honed by the science of modern football and therefore better equipped to carry the burden of representing Nigeria on the global stage. Nigerian born players will simply not be able to cope. sometimes when you say this words those with myopic senses....can't comprehend and don't even wanna learn. this Lads right from tender age have been exposed to the science of the game of football, and also they tend to be disciplined than the home groomed talents.... they are better exposed and others... if we really want our football to make a mark in this latter days... we must be ready to maximize the foreign born players to our advantage...and likewise the home groomed talents... no one should tell me the increasing number of Nigeria born players abroad should be ignored all because we wanna develop or groom our local born players.. |

charlesemeka85: I have clamoured for the inclusion of home grown players who are doing well and will add something different to the team severally here so u don't have a point.

I'm not here to boast but only used myself as reference and if that disturbs you then search for the nearest transformer in your hood to hug cus no be me cause wetin dey do u the way many reasoned is funny. most kids in Abuja and Lagos now... privileged to come from a little above average families tend to have two passports.... most parents often do all they can to create this opportunities for their children so as to make it cheaper and easier for them to school abroad...and also other benefits.... it is very common to see kids here in Abuja with dual nationalities and you won't blame them because they had the privilege to.... please ignore shallow minds... many don't even have a Nigeria passports let alone they know how it feels like to be a dual citizen |

charlesemeka85: Oga no one doubts the fact that Ejuke is good enough for the super eagles. I posted something here few days ago on Rohr's eyes set on Ejuke who have been doing marvelously well in the eirdivisie. You can pour your frustration on Imama who ignored him but invited a 2nd tier player from Austria.
Rohr just replied to a question and didn't say he was gonna invite Saka soon but said it will he a bit difficult since he has official caps for the English youth team.
Also I see no wrong in having Ejuke and Saka in the u23 or current super eagles set up. The aim is having a large pool of young talented players. Stop been emotional rather listen to your head the more. thanks bro... the way many reason here ignite my fears in the youth system of this country.... why can't we think outside the box? must we throw away a baby with the bath water?? can't we maximize both foreign born and home groomed players to our advantage? I hate it when peeps give up so easy.... the fact that I experience failures plying a particular route that have sometimes give me success too.... is not enough reason to run away or refuse to ply that route... instead I will ply same route again but this time with wisdom and being extra smart. thanks for your reply |

I have been following the super eagles since 2002 world cup in Japan/Korea.... indigenous coaches are one set of the most corrupt coaches you can ever find around. sentiments and fraud players selection is something else... just take a look at Imama foreign players selection the last time for the under 23.... this men only think of their pockets. |

How can you tag odegbami as the best winger out of Africa. He didn't qualify for the WC neither sis he ever play in Europe. All those names you mentioned were local champions. Local as in only within Nigeria and not even Africa. Let's be honest with ourselves but they play beautiful football....and there was no away loss mentality as it is now. the local guys played good football.... and the coaches were learned. do you know that the enyimba squad of 2003/2004 was greatly loved and followed by Nigerians....all over. I so much love that team even though I was bendel insurance fan... chief obaseki was far better than what is obtained now.... during his time the NPL as it was called then even signed an agreement with the EPL... GLO then was the league sponsor with close to 200M naira as the league progress MTN came on board willing to sponsor the league with over 400M naira it was a serious fight between both network providers....
