I just dey observe jare, let me come and be going. the electorates that do participate mostly in osun state election are the ones that doesn't have access to light and water in their various homes. this is what Aregbesola promised in his second term in government, but he failed woefully in fulfilling that. Abeg where's the airport project he promised. Abeg tell me ooooooooooo. we are not based on twitter, nairaland comments. we votes based on what is ground and achievement of the candidate. the likes of you said alot of things here last year senatorial bye election, in all the credible candidate coast to victory. distinguished senator Ademola Adeleke was able to fulfilled his mandate to the people cos' of the projects he delivered to his senatorial district. this is what people see on ground and they are voting enmass for him. besides it's the turn of osun west senatorial district to produce the next governor of osun state. since 1999, they have not produced the governor and the deputy governor. this is not fair at all.

I wonder how y'all sit and talk about Osun like y'all live here or knows everything about the state. You claimed there's no light when Osun enjoys stable electricity. Y'all e-warriors should at least find out from the real people that lives in the state.
Sports / Super Eagles World Cup Jerseys Sold Out In Less Than 24hrs by iamarvye(m): 3:35pm On Jun 01, 2018
Barely 15hrs after Nike released the most anticipated Super Eagles World Cup Jerseys, the kits are already sold out according to the Nike official website.
The NFF had initially tweeted about the 3million orders received for the Jersey, a claim later refuted by Nike.
Although Nike denied the NFF claims, but selling out the merchandise barely 15hrs of the launch, NFF's initial claim is therefore not far fetched.

On the very contrary Jesus never said anything about Christianity and never even mentioned the word. You people say God gave birth to Jesus, pls explain how... Increase your knowledge read the bible and the Quran. The Qur'an spoke about Mary even more than the old testamin. Good day.

You claimed Jesus never said anything about Christianity but do you really know what the word Christianity means? It means Christ-like, the teachings of his gospel. So if He never talked about the gospel, then what were the disciples chosen for?
If you claim the Al Qu'ran spoke more about Mary than the old testament, it's because Qu'ran came over 500years of the existence of the new testament and more years of the existence of the old testament. Thus, we can both agree the Bible was adopted while writing the Qu'ran cos where else were the accounts of Mary and Jesus recorded? There were prophecies of the birth of Jesus by a virgin mother in the old testament.
If you don't have a vast knowledge about things, don't start an argument you can't win

It is very wrong of Fayose to pick a particular place in ibadan that suits his criticism.
Ibadan is a very big city, bigger than some states if I'm not mistaken and over the years, Ibadan has being growing considerably well at a good pace.
There are many places in ibadan that is actually living up to the standard of a city

*sigh
Then I think Aregbesola deserves a big clap for finding a way to pay workers of over 25LGs without stopping infrastructural projects and Bayelsa can't even handle 7LGs without any tangible project in 5yrs...

Politics / EFCC Arraigns Fayose’s Ally, Agbele, On Fraud Charges Today by iamarvye(m): 8:03am On Aug 03, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will on Wednesday (today) arraign Mr. Abiodun Agbele, an ally of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, on charges of fraud involving N1.2bn belonging to the Federal Government.

The said sum was alleged to be part of the N4.7bn that was mysteriously transferred from the imprest account of the Office of the National Security Adviser to the bank account of Sylvan McNamara, a company allegedly owned by the sons of a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.

Obanikoro allegedly took N1.2bn from the N4.7bn and flew it to Akure during the build-up to the governorship election in Ekiti State and handed the sum to Agbele for onward transfer to Fayose.

It was learnt on Tuesday that the EFCC filed the charges against Agbele before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday.

The EFCC had arrested Agbele in Lagos on June 28 and kept him in its custody pending investigations.

The EFCC said the amount was part of the proceeds of economic and financial crime in which Agbele “was found to have allegedly assisted in receiving and concealing in conspiracy with the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, and the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose.”

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, had on July 21 ordered the EFCC to release Agbele from its custody.

Justice Adeniyi in a ruling on the suspect’s bail application declared the continued detention of the suspect without being charged to court and without the backing of any competent remand order amounted to a “gross violation” of his right.

The judge awarded N5m against the EFCC as compensation to Agbele for his unlawful detention by the anti-graft agency.

Justice Adeniyi in another ruling on Tuesday, dismissed an application by the EFCC seeking an order of stay of execution of the court’s July 21 order.

The anti-graft agency had filed the motion for stay of execution along with its notice of appeal challenging the court’s ruling.

But the judge in dismissing the application for stay of execution, held on Tuesday that there was no special circumstances to warrant the stopping the enforcement of the order granting bail to the accused.

One of our correspondents confirmed from court officials on Tuesday that Agbele had now been charged before Justice Dimgba of the Federal High Court and his arraignment slated for Wednesday.

In a related development, the EFCC has quizzed Agbele’s account officer, Rita Balogun, over the suspicious payments made into his company account domiciled in Diamond Bank.

Balogun, who works at the Business Banking Unit of the Ibadan West directorate of Diamond Bank, said in her statement of oath that Agbele received over N60m from the Ekiti State local governments funds.

The funds were allegedly paid into his company account, BYKD Consult, with number 0059177132, between February 18 and March 30, 2015. The money was then wired to Affordable Motors.

Agbele allegedly got the funds under the pretext that he was given a contract by Fayose. Investigators are, however, of the opinion that there was no evidence of any contractual agreement.

Balogun in her statement of oath, said, “On February 18, 2015, he received N18,159,050 from MDG-CGS-LG. On the same day, he received N15,319,850 from the same account. On the same day, he also received N11,238,500 from the same account.

“On February 19, 2015, he debited the account with N40m and transferred it to Affordable/Toyota. On the next day, he transferred N15m to Affordable/Toyota. On March 30, he received N15,704,325 from MDG-CGS-LG.

“On April 1, he transferred N3,195,000 to Fini Insurance Brokers. On April 29, he transferred N5m to his personal account titled Abiodun Agbele. On April 30, he transferred another N5m to his personal account while N2m was on May 15, transferred to his personal account.”

She noted that the account had since been frozen by the EFCC.

Meanwhile, workers at the Abuja headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation expressed worry over reported plans by the EFCC to probe about 50 employees of the national oil firm for an alleged N15bn retail outlets fraud.

This is coming as the corporation declared that the EFCC was not right to state that one of its former group managing directors had absconded without stating the particular GMD or the period which the affected official served at the NNPC.

When contacted, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Mr. Mohammed Garba-Deen, stated that the report had done great injustice to the past GMDs of the corporation.

He said, “This is because no name was mentioned, rather what it said was a former GMD was linked to the alleged fraud. By so doing it has cast aspersions on the integrity and character of the past GMDs of the NNPC and this is unprofessional. If you cannot mention the name of the former GMD being referred to, why go ahead to publish the sorry?

Politics / 11 Questions Okonjo-iweala Must Answer On Recovered Abacha's Loot ---SERAP by iamarvye(m): 10:02pm On Dec 06, 2015
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has rejected the accusation of political agenda by the immediate-past Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, saying that “the issue of how over $5 billion recovered Abacha funds were spent under her watch deserves serious attention.”

In a statement today by SERAP executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni, the organization said that, “By making unfounded allegations against SERAP, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala has provided little more than an unhelpful distraction, which can only serve to undermine genuine efforts to promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria, the country that she claims to love so dearly.”

Last week, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala described the call by SERAP for her probe over the spending of the Abacha loot as a politically-sponsored action; that SERAP is compromised; that SERAP is a tool for reprehensible, corrupt vested interests; and that the returned Abacha loot was properly appropriated and channeled into roads, electricity, education, water and health across all six geo-political zones of Nigeria.

The response by the organization reads in part: “As a public trust, SERAP has an important role to play in revealing the discrepancies between the World Bank documents and the clear lack of access of millions of Nigerians to quality education, adequate healthcare, clean water, safe roads and regular electricity supply during the period covered by the documents.”

“If she truly loves Nigeria, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala should have come out to say exactly how the over $5 billion of Abacha loot was spent under her watch. Trying to dodge responsibility for the spending of our commonwealth or attacking SERAP that is trying to get to the bottom of what happened to the funds is a betrayal of that love. Mrs Okonjo-Iweala should not be immune from accountability for what happened to Abacha recovered loot just because she is no longer in government.”

“If the aim of these allegations is to bully us into stopping our work to seek accountability on the spending of over $5 billion recovered Abacha loot, then it has failed, as SERAP will never back down in its pursuit of justice in the face of such attack.”

“These new allegations echo those that Mrs Okonjo-Iweala made against us in March to divert attention from SERAP freedom of information suit on the spending of N30 trillion by the former government of President Goodluck Jonathan. SERAP has fully responded to these allegations. SERAP’s credibility is exemplified by the fact of several awards it has received nationally and internationally including nomination for the UN civil society award in 2008; nomination for the Ford Foundation Jubilee Transparency Award for 2011, and the Wole Soyinka Anti-Corruption Defender Award SERAP received in 2014.”

“As we continue to study the documents received from the World Bank, we have identified 11 questions that Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to answer as a matter of priority”.

“First, the World Bank confirmed that of the 51 projects reviewed, 23 were described as “completed”, 26 were at various stages of completion, and 2 were described as “abandoned”. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to show us evidence of the 23 projects allegedly completed, and whether the 26 projects where actually completed; and what became of the 2 abandoned projects.”

“Second, the World Bank confirmed that 6 out of 8 health centers reviewed pertained to physical infrastructure but were not completed. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain why these projects were not completed on time, and whether in fact they were completed at all; as well as location of completed projects.”

“Nigerians would also like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain the letter she wrote to the Ambassador of Switzerland to Nigeria January 9, 2005 that of the 174 health centers built with Abacha funds, 138 were fully functional and that remaining 36 were expected to be commissioned in January
2005. Nigerians would appreciate it if Mrs Okonjo-Iweala could identify and name all the health centers mentioned her letter.”

“Third, as regards power projects, the World Bank confirmed that payments by government to contractors could not be verified “because in most cases contact information for contractors was not available,” and that 10 of the 18 power projects pertained to physical electrical installations. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to identify and name the 10 installations, and to provide contact details of the contractors that executed the projects.”

“Fourth, the World Bank confirmed that most of the recovered funds were used to repay domestic borrowing. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain how much exactly was involved as a part of 2004 annual budget execution in anticipation of the repatriation of the looted funds in 2004, as well as repayment terms of the funds and from which banks.”

“Fifth, the World Bank confirmed that the government opened a special US dollar account for recovered funds with the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, to which various transfers of Abacha loot were made. The World Bank also confirmed that some $50 mn was received before 2005 which was kept in the special account. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain how much was left in the account by the time she left office in May.”

“Sixth, the World Bank confirmed that the data on inflows of recovered funds are broadly identical but that there was one material discrepancy, which was unexplained. The Bank also said the information it received from the government ‘does not contain a reference to the transfer of $5.2 mn in August of 2006.’ Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain the material discrepancy, and why the transfer of $5.2 mn was not disclosed to the Bank.”

“Seventh, the World Bank confirmed that Abacha returned loot was used as source of 2005 budget deficit financing, and that the funds were directed to co-financing of capital expenditure and balancing the 2005 budget. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain exactly the capital expenditure involved.”

“Eighth, the World Bank confirmed that the Abacha funds were used to provide additional financing for the Universal Basic Education (UBE) program in the amount of NGN24.25 bn to support basic education throughout the country. This amount was fully disbursed and fully utilized. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to identify the number and location of schools which benefited from these funds at the time.”

“Ninth, the World Bank confirmed that there were problems with collecting project-related information because of under-developed reporting and accounting standards, and absence of properly set-up databases for sectoral project portfolios; and weak administrative capacity in the ministry of finance. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain why this was the case under her watch.”

“Tenth, the World Bank confirmed that 13 road projects were completed including 3 of the largest road and bridge projects in each geo-political zone. Also, the Bank regretted that it was not possible to interview many contractors in order to obtain independent confirmation of amounts spent on individual projects, and record their comments on project status. Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain exactly happened, and to identify unconfirmed individual projects, including the largest roads and bridges completed.”

“Eleventh, the World Bank confirmed that no special arrangements were made for project selection and monitoring. According to the Bank, ‘Given the weakness of general budget reporting systems at the moment, this decision greatly undermined the opportunity for tracking the returned Abacha funds and analysis of their utilization.’ Nigerians would like Mrs Okonjo-Iweala to explain why this was the case under her watch.”

Signed

Adetokunbo Mumuni

SERAP Executive Director

Politics / Security Robbery Scandal: Agents Stole Money Meant For Sen. Pres. Bukola Saraki by iamarvye(m): 9:32pm On Dec 06, 2015
The Department of State Security (DSS) today issued a release disclosing that some its agents took part in robbing a Bureau De Change in Abuja. Curiously, the agency’s release, which was signed by a spokesman, Tony Opuiyo, failed to provide details of the robbery, apparently in an effort to cover up the ultimate ownership of the stolen money.

However, an investigation by SaharaReporters confirmed that the robbery took place on November 20, 2015 near the home of Senate President Bukola Saraki in Abuja.

Mr. Saraki had frequently used bureau de change agents to carry out money laundering since his days as governor of Kwara State, a fact detailed in police reports of his money laundering activities.

SaharaReporters learnt that when Mr. Saraki needed some cash with which to bribe judges handling his numerous challenges to his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Bureau, he often called on bureau de change agents to help transport the cash, sometimes after converting it to foreign currency, which is much easier to move around.

Our reliable sources, in confirming Mr. Saraki’s part in the bizarre heist, said the DSS had yet to determine the exact amount of cash Mr. Saraki was trying to raise at the time of the robbery, but they insisted it was in billions of naira.

A source familiar with the DSS investigations said the agency’s operatives attached to the Senate President were always aware of the senator’s procurement and movement of cash. However, on this occasion, Mr. Saraki decided not to use his DSS agents to escort the cash, since he feared “all eyes were on him and on some of his details, too.” Instead, the bureau de change operator was to make his own arrangement for police officers to accompany him as he moved the cash to Mr. Saraki’s home.

Unknown to both Senator Saraki and the bureau de change operator, the senator’s security detail had a plan of their own. They recruited some of their colleagues, including army Captain Hussein Ishaku Mshelia, to waylay the bureau de change operator on his way to Mr. Saraki’s home. The robbers stole the money by staging a perfect “sting operation.” The security agents who carried out the heist were dressed in DSS camouflage and strategically positioned themselves in and around Mr. Saraki's house.

When the delivery vehicle was about five minutes away from Senator Saraki's house, several heavily armed men dressed in DSS vests and military camouflage struck and rounded up the bureau de change operators conveying the money. The agents reportedly told the bureau de change operators that they were under arrest for money laundering, specifically for moving such a huge amount of cash without any evidence of official transaction. The three policemen hired by the bureau de change operators left as soon as the armed interceptors presented identity cards that showed that they were truly DSS operatives.

As soon as the police escorts left, convinced that the DSS agents were truly on official assignment, the armed agents, among them some DSS operatives attached to Mr. Saraki, told the bureau de change operators that they knew where the money was being moved to and aware that the deal was illegal.

When the main bureau de change operator telephoned Senator Saraki to report his trouble, the senator instructed him not to mention his name at all. But Mr. Saraki did not know that some of the agents who had planned and executed the interception and heist were his security agents. Our source said Mr. Saraki initially thought the security men who had caught the bureau de change operator were from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Thereafter, the DSS agents who planned the operation originally demanded N350 million in order to let the vehicle conveying the cash to move on. After much negotiation, they were paid N310 million.

Shortly after the robbery, the suspects were identified and detained at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja. Some of the suspects, confirmed to be SSS personnel attached to Senator Saraki, have undergone several interrogations. SaharaReporters learned that, as a result of the heist, Senator Saraki’s DSS detail, including his chief security officer, named Paul, and chief detail, named Abdulrasheed Ahmadu Maigari, had been reassigned to the DSS headquarters. Another set of DSS agents have been deployed to Mr. Saraki.

Mr. Saraki, who enjoys a cozy relationship with the Director General of DSS, Musa Lawal, personally contacted the DG to request the return of Paul, the senator’s erstwhile CSO. A source within the agency told SaharaReporters that, despite the senator’s request, both Mr. Paul and Mr. Maigari remained at the headquarters where they also underwent interrogation before the DSS released some names today.

Today’s press release, which was authorized by the DG of the DSS, was instructive in its omission of crucial details, including the date, time and location of the robbery. The omissions were designed to conceal Mr. Saraki’s role as the recipient of the stolen funds.

Below is the text of the statement by the DSS:

N310M ROBBERY-DSS ARRESTS CULPRITS: N66.4 MILLION RECOVERED

The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the general public that the Service has arrested two (2) out of five (5) of its Staff involved in the robbery and sharing, on 20th November, 2015, of the sum of three hundred and ten million naira (N310m) belonging to a Bureau De Change operator in Abuja. While three (3) of the DSS staff are now at large, the Military Authorities have commenced a detailed investigation of five (5) of its personnel involved in the crime.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Abdulrasheed Ahmadu MAIGARI of the DSS, conspired with four (4) other colleagues of his namely: Solomon INUSA, Peter OKOYE, Patrick ISHAYA and George Mwatapwa IBBI, to carry out this reprehensible act. The five (5) military personnel were led by one Capt. Hussein Ishaku MSHELIA. Meanwhile, the Service has arrested MAIGARI and IBBI; and MSHELIA equally arrested by the Army authorities. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those still at large. A total of Sixty-Six Million Four Hundred and Thirty Seven Thousand, Four Hundred and Forty-five Naira (N66,437,445.00) and Six Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($6,200) have so far been recovered, while efforts are being made to recover the remaining amounts. It is to be noted that security agencies now act in concert, thus the joint investigation undertaken with the Police, Army and the DSS.

This action of the Service is in line with the posture of the current Administration and DSS management focus on professionalism, transparency and accountability. Those so far arrested have been suspended pending the completion of investigations. For the avoidance of doubt, the Service wants to reiterate its commitment to the basic ideals and principles as established by its forebears and will not spare anyone found to be contravening the rules and regulations or the laws of the land. We therefore encourage members of the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of those at large to volunteer same to the Service or other security agency. The DSS also wishes to use this opportunity to assure all law abiding citizens of their safety and urge them to partner with the Service in the smooth discharge of its responsibilities.

Politics / Former Senate Leader, Ndoma-egba, Formally Joins APC by iamarvye(m): 6:01pm On Nov 09, 2015
Former Senate leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, who resigned from PDP on September 17th, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ndoma-Egba, who represented Cross River Central in the seventh Senate, was at the APC secretariat in Cross River state today where he formally joined the party.
While speaking to some of the party chieftains, Ndoma-Egba

“I came to reciprocate the various courtesy calls paid to me by chapter chairmen of the APC from the ward level to the national body of the party and to tell you that I want to formally join the APC family.
For a long time, it was said that Cross River State was a one party state. For a long time it was, but it is no longer tenable today, because the actiosaid the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) created a large pool of IDPs (Internally Displaced Politicians) who still have political life in them and must continue in politics. So the IDPs must find a platform to carry on with their politics. As we continue consultations with you, I want to assure you that we are aware the party has a constitution and we must be bound by it. We want to come to the party with values of integrity, fair competition and a level playing ground. Fortunately PDP has given a template of what should not be done, that impunity is not sustainable. They have had to pay a high price for impunity. Whether they have learnt lessons from their impunity is what I don't know," he said.
