Djhack1: Well sire, the reason followers are responsible for an effective change is because a follower can either vote in a good leader or a so called bad leader. Now, when followers vote in a bad leader, the followers are responsible for that and if they still yearn for effective change and want it, they can impeach such a person or recall such a person. At the end, it still boils down to the followers to determine the fate of the society. Thanks 2 Likes |

“I would like to end my address this morning on our agenda for CHANGE. Change does not just happen. You and I and all of us must appreciate that we all have our part to play if we want to bring change about. We must change our lawless habits, our attitude to public office and public trust. We must change our unruly behaviour in schools, hospitals, market places, motor parks, on the roads, in homes and offices. To bring about change, we must change ourselves by being law-abiding citizens.” Extract from the Speech delivered by President Muhammad Buhari on the occasion of the 55th Independence Day of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Good day Ladies and Gentlemen, I am IamDejman representing Lagos state university and here to stand on the motion that for a Nigeria to have an effective change, it is the sole responsibility of the followers. When we say an effective change, we stand to say that it means the act or process through which something becomes different successfully. I Change is ubiquitous in any society, particularly in that which strives to fulfill human needs. And it takes a committed followers to accomplish a propitious change in a society. Overtime, Nigeria has undergone four different democratic elections and yet the country cannot pinpoint a significant thing in its environs. Before the year 1999, we were classified with Countries like China, Singapore but today reverse is the case as these countries and more have left us behind and today our nation is in a state of hullabaloo. For 16 years, we were under the democratic reign of the People's Democratic Party and we had President Olusegun Obansanjo from 1999-2007, President Musa Yar’dua from 2007-2010 and the so called Ineffectual Buffoon (The Economist) President Ebele Jonathan from 2010-2015. During the lavish democratic reign of President Ebele Jonathan, a party emerged called the All Progressive Congress which brought out a mind blowing campaign slogan – CHANGE. They preached, campaigned and brainwashed Nigerians with the Change mantra and they had their candidates elected across board majorly. They became the majority and ruling party. But almost a year, Nigerians still search for an effective change. The mistake we did was believe that our leaders are solely responsible for out effective change. We thought for Our own great and dear country to witness effective change, we just have to be lazy and our leaders will deal with that. NO! We have to admit, Yes we need an effective change but we must recognize that we followers must determine that. A good leader is one with followers because the followers are those who must take charge and make sure for the implementation of the brilliant idea presented by the Followers. Followers of Jesus Christ allowed Christianity a household religion today, Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W.) never single handedly promoted Islam but his followers made sure the religion spread as much as it can. Back to our current President Buhari, when he was elected as the nominee of the All progressive Congress, his followers made sure the change mantra was adequately preached and campaigned for and today he is President and garnered 15 million plus votes just because he had good followers. Today, I speak to the follower in Nigeria reading this today, I speak to the common man that believes Nigeria is getting harder to survive in; for us to have an effective change in our Country, we need you. The leaders will try to make life changing policies, we need you to follow and implement them. Our leaders will formulate laws, rules and regulations for the upliftment of the security situations of our country , if we refuse to obey and follow it then the leader have failed. The leaders are nothing without the followers and the followers are responsible for the success of the leaders. To lead a multi-ethnic society while remaining committed to democratic principles or norms is an uphill task. This is because incorporating several ethnic groups into a single political system means bringing together the basic problem of ethnic conflict as well. This is why it is the sole responsibility of the followers to determine e the stay of effective change in Nigeria. Nigeria is a nation of many ethnic and religious groups; and for this, governing the society is an enormous job. Given the presence of politically assertive ethnic groups, the stability and survival of the present democratic politics depends on how the followers react and how they choose to be during the reign of such leader. Truly, followers are solely responsible for an effective change in Nigeria. References 1. Speech delivered on the occasion of the 55th Independence Day of Nigeria by President Muhammed Buhari 2. Education / LASU Shines At International Moot Competition In India. by IamDejman(m): 9:03pm On Feb 15, 2016 |
The Faculty of Law, Lagos State University was ably represented by a team of three students and a team coach at the 8th edition of the Gujarat National Law University International Moot Court Competition on International trade law (GIMC) 2016 held at Gujarat National Law University, India held from the 3rd-7th February 2016. The team comprising of: - Babalola Tobi Michael(Speaker) (500 level law graduating student) - Okuneye Samuel Taiwo(Speaker) (500 level law graduating student) - Mabawonku Olusegun Olanrewaju(Researcher) (500 level law graduating student) - Dr. Rufus Olaoluwa (Team Manager) (Head of Department Jurisprudence and International law), were sponsored by the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State University management. GIMC is India’s only moot court competition based on International Trade Law. It is recognized as a moot court competition of prestige by various international organizations such as the American Society of International Law (ASIL), the International Law Students Association (ILSA), the Asian Society of International Law (Asian SIL) and the World Trade Institute (WTI) and leading law firms. This year’s edition of the moot dealt with issues of “domestic content requirements, interference in the use of trademarks and imposition of other barriers to trade”. The Lagos State University was the only University from Nigeria and Africa that displayed outstanding advocacy performance at the various moot rounds held. The high point of their participation was defeating the Host University at the second round of the preliminary stage. Although, the team could not make it to the final round, but this did not deter the pulled ovation, leaving an indelible mark and impression on the minds of the judges, organisers, and the forty-two (42) participating teams from the United States of America, Australia, Indonesia, India, Sri-lanka, Nepal and other countries across the world who were amazed by the quality of advocacy from the team 9 Likes 1 Share

Nairaland / General / End Of The Year Message From Iamdejman by IamDejman(m): 6:11pm On Dec 31, 2015 |
Well, it's been one hell of a year. Whew!!!!!!!! Soon 2015 would be over and it's time for me give summary and account like I do yearly. The year started on a high note for me with the zeal to be academically and politically active and the task soon came along. PS: I started as a single guy, Lol. Those two aspect of my life would be discussed with a lil touch on my emotional life. I am a mover, shaker and changemaker and I sought to make a change at the place I found myself -LASU. 2015 changed me politically, I became a better political animal. I almost lost my track but I found my way again. I came out to contest and still in the race to the emerge as the 26th Public Relations Officer of my Great union, the best in subsaharan Africa - the east of the limpopo and the north of the Arabia- Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU). It hasn't been say so far but I thank God for my 42 men team led by Jide Oyefolu. Academically, balancing my education wasn't easy. I lost count on the lectures I missed, but I had Edun Timilehin, Mausi, Ojo Timlehin on my neck. They watched out for me at all times to ensure my balance though it was impossible at the end. I glorify God for my first semester result and so far, second semester is still worth praise. I cannot overemphasize the usefulness of Dayo Osijo, Ife Oyemade and Tunde Abiodun in my life for constant jokes and to make sure I forget problems most times. To my campaigners, I cannot mention you all but I have you all in mind. Remember say na Dejman fit do am. I appreciate you all gold and silver I have not but yet, you shared the vision and are working tirelessly to achieve the goals. I increased my coast this year and it was evident, I thank God. I was always protected even during the times I received threats. I thank God To White ink, The Binoculars, Justice chambers and the wonderful Naija Visage platform, you made my year wonderful and crazy. Special shoutout to a Greatman, Awesu Olaniyi. A senior brother, Tobi Idowu. A die hard critic Philips Akintola. My number one fan, critic and brother, Edun Timilehin. Mkperedem Olalekan's political advise kept me going. A senior comrade Nurudeen Temilola and Aregbesola Olayinka. My list is long so I would just list a lil more. My pastors, Pwunmi and PNmesoma. A brother who surprised me -Fagbadekun Feyi. Tossa Godwin, Jerry, Yusuf Omomeewa and my new found friends. Esanism and other NAOSS Lasu members. The Clasfonites inclusive and the members of Namlas. My special classmates, they've turned me to their brother and I appreciate their efforts this year. Wow, what would I do without them? 2013/2014 Law set. Class of 2018. Lol To every Lasuites who knows me or not, I appreciate you for you've made my year wonderful and great. I garnered a lot of experience from one of you at a point in time and I thank you for that. My friends who aren't Lasuites; Olaoluwa Ajo, Ebunoluwa Oyetunji Eniola and my army of friends. Lol. This year was characterized by your actions in my life. I cannot complete this without mentioning my circle. Esther, Dare, Abraham, Tola: we've all had our differences. I hope 2016 would bring us together again. No campaign would have happened without Motunrayo Abinde being an opponent. I hope 2015 was good for you Motunrayo. To my lovely Pastor and L/E Eluwande, Such wonderful and one in a kind parents. My immediate and extended family members, I love you all. Finally, that girl that listen to me and understand how crazy I can be. She might be Stubborn but calm. Elegant in her unique way, Tolulope Adeodun. Not forgetting her ironical big friend of hers Precious Damilola. Thank you. Soon we venture into a new year. We venture into 2016. Though I'm shy, I know we all would overcome. I thank God I am still alive to see today and to the Lasuites reading this, please and please don't forget to vote DEJMAN as the 26th Public Relations Officer of Lasusu next year. Happy new year In advance. Ayodeji Cornelius Eluwande DEJMAN 300l Law, Lagos State University. (LLB Law in view) |
