OlujobaSamuel: no wonder una fail gns. The write-up sef no fit make person pass. Not talking about grammar or spellings, but lacks communication. Defending SUG, accusing NANS, then praising both. That's brilliancy. Acknowledge it Then it makes me question your knowledge of things, how GNS affect my writeup and its connection to the purported mass failure! |

“In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” George Orwell
It is imperative at this junction to make us understand certain things. Lagos State University, the great citadel of Knowledge situated in Ojo area of Lagos State, has had certain issues in the last eight months which had even grounded activities at some period.
Today, 20th of August, 2015; a rainy Thursday, we have experienced two different actions at a time. As at 9am this morning, the students’ Union executive had called for a meeting with regard to the purported mass failure of 200l and 300l students offering General Nigerian Studies (GNS). Due to this, an agreement was made by students in attendance to create awareness by blocking the gates of the campuses. It is to be known that this did not affect movement of our lecturers uploading results in the campus.
Therefore, Dr Adekunle Idris, Chairman of ASUU-Lasu, should hold NANS Zone D (SouthWest) for their acts and not the Students’ Union. If our Lecturers think we would stop and hinder them from making us progress, then it cannot be so. I appease all involved to tread softly due to the owing fact that there is a need to avoid a crisis in Lasu especially at this crucial moment when our academic calendar is found wanting.
I applaud both my Union’s Exco act and the actions of NANS Zone D but we all must remember if we do the right thing at the wrong time then there is a problem. For ecery act, we must have the right timing and as such, I beseech them to take cognizance of that fact.
Repositioning Lasu is the duty of all Lasuites and well-wishers of the University. Let’s try our best to work towards that

Its a serious word for a football match and as a female you should be more circumspect with such words
Yes arsenal were defeated heavily by Liverpool, Chelsea and man city yet managed to get 79 points
This season we defeated Liverpool n city and obtained 75 points
If you don't understand what the stats are saying Let me expatiate to you
It means while you lost woefully to your rivals last year you were able to beat the lesser teams while now you beat them but lost to the lesser teams with a swing of -4 points basically 2 draws....
How is that improvement
Na wa for these AKBs Bro No disrespect but I've been reading since morning and I discovered just now that this your argument is baseless and not needed So u mean that moving up a figure isn't achievement? Last season, we struggled to finish fourth. RThis season, we comfortably ended up in d 3rd position thereby removing worries of play off by august. If that is not improvement, then you are just a blind man arguing that the sky is black( because that's what you see) |

twoondei: First, I think this is a debate and whatever you believed in before now on this subject isn't likely to have changed. Considering the difficulty of the topic, I think the LASU guys have a clearer understanding. His points aren't so much and he did justice by countering possible points from his opponents. The IB poly side of the story, apparently, is the easier stand. And I think he was able to make points but some people lose interest in your points when your diction is poor. Good stuff I'll say and I will give it to LASU. dude has to be a law student. Good content! Yes a Law student. Lol Thanks much. I appreciate |

Seempliehuman: I've enjoyed reading this. I'm pro-choice and the presentation from LASU does nothing to change my stance. Here's why: The main argument of the essay is that abortion is unacceptable because one life is not more important than another. So, according to the LASU presenter, it dosent matter if a pregnancy resulting from rape prevents a girl from pursuing her dream of university education or if a woman is told she'll die if she tries to deliver the child, she must go through with it because her life is not more important than the baby's. This thinking is flawed. Since the baby's life and the mother's are of equal value, the mother shouldnt have to risk her life to deliver the baby. So, to ask the mother to go through with the pregnancy at great risks to herself is to give more value to the baby's life. More importantly, people dont just get abortions because they like it, no. It's a response to a problem; namely, an unwanted pregnancy or one(a pregnancy) that puts the mother at great risk. The essay condems abortion as a solution but does not give us alternatives. So, do we just ignore the problems and the consequences therein for the society?(Several of these consequences have been mentioned in the pro-choice essay). Frankly, the presentation does not reflect the complexity surrounding the issue. This is demonstrated when the writer dismisses the ardous and financially tasking job of raising children as a child simply 'needing food and time'. What about education, affection, shelter, security, etc Is food itself easy to come by? So, basically, the presenter wants more children to be born but doesnt care what kind of life these children live economically, socially and emotionally. Also, it dosent seem like the presenter have given much thought to their position. Infact, one gets the impression that they are simply repeating what they've been told. PS This is disorganised, once you start typing on this phone, it is hard to go back to edit. Also, I have focused more on what has not been said than what was. Thanks much bro. I love this. I appreciate, I'll work on those issues. |

Hidentity: ON THE PRESENTER FROM LASU
In the midst of the dwindling urge for intellectual food have we seen this robust and well researched work. I cannot but credit. However, you were so engrossed in making this work academic that you forgot that too much of it do not hold water here. Touches of oratory lines and analogy would have done. I have no doubt that most people have reservations on that ground.
Also, except on a careful perusal, you went all preaching morality. My question and point of response if I were your opponent is- the definition of morality is subjective. So dynamic that if 3 people are slapped, the reaction based on their moral inclination would differ. So, is it more moral to keep a child of rape than to abort it?
In addition, an average reader may not be too sure of your stand. However, you did a great job and displayed the required knowledge of the topic. I say well done. I met LASU students in a couple of debates back then- they were blazing fire with the microphone and this further reveals that they are good on every platform. Score would be made known at night. A child of rape? This child has a right to life. This fetus might be the only child one bear. It's no woman's right to abort a child. If you know you can't take care of them, the the government should establish a place where ' children of rape' would grow up. |

culcid: The longer we delay legalising abortion in Nigeria the more damned we are as a country. Go to villages like Ugep in Cross River state and count the number of maternal mortality as a result of illegal abortions perpetrated by quack PPMVs and other medical practitioners.
Come to think of it, do you know the number of potential babies the Vaseline crew waste on daily bases, you might argue that it takes divine hand for fertilization to occur, good, but how sure are you that there wouldn't have been a fertilization if you didn't waste it.
I give it to the Poly students, not because of my stand oh, can count about 4 points raised by them, succinct and concise. For the LASU flag bearers, just a point, with big big English.
Kudos to you all big big English. This are normal English words |
