Them stash multiples of that abroad..but them need this one for election
Even Tinubu took his famous Bullion vans from Banks at Eve of the presidential election.

Baba, no politician is as dumb as you think..

A governor will never keep 22bn cash anywhere.

What are the security agents doing?

Go after these people, burst their warehouse and recover the hidden money.

This should be easier and honourable to do than punishing over 200m people for the 'sins' of few.
Abi

You are using your brain bruv.

Those are important questions anyone with a brain should be asking, rather than buying the cock and bull story..

So Nigeria had to spend money and effort to redesign the money to catch a single politician.

Why not just send Icpc and EFCC agents after such person.

It's just a cock and bull story.
PoliticsRe: Buba Galadima: A Northern Governor Is Hiding ₦‎22 Billion Old Naira Notes by Iamgrey5(m):
This is the most stupid made up story yet.

I hope Nigerians don't believe this cock and bull story.

How on earth will anyone keep N22bn cash anywhere in particular place in a period of time.

The money that will have been stashed in numerous foreign and local accounts long time ago.

Not even the Naira whose value continue to drop everyday.

Even Ganduje that took Dollar bribe will have stashed it long time ago in offshore accounts of his Nieces, Daughters or Wives.

PoliticsRe: Naira swap: Nigeria At Risk Of CBN-Induced Recession - Nigerian Governors' Forum by Iamgrey5(m):
Wow wow wow.

I believed I wrote a comment about CBN self induced recession just last week.

So the Governors just realized that artificial scarcity of cash in a cash driven economy will definitely lead to low purchasing power which will inturn lead to self induced recession.

It will also give incentive for counterfeiting of the new Naira note because when demand of money is greater than the supply, criminal element will see the opportunity to make counterfeit money.

PoliticsRe: Malami Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss State’s Lawsuit On Naira Redesign by Iamgrey5(m): 7:16am On Feb 09, 2023
Amayabor1:
I don't really understand what you are saying, but these are the points;

1. Nigeria laws and US laws are not the same. Both countries don't operate the same constitution. So, stop making baseless comparisons

2. The Supreme court made a mistake like the write up said. Their order is hollow and empty as the CBN that introduced the new Naira notes wasn't a party to the suit.
The write up is legal opinion of the attorney general not the judgement of the supreme court.

So let the Supreme court interpret the laws and either agree or disagree with it.
PoliticsRe: Malami Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss State’s Lawsuit On Naira Redesign by Iamgrey5(m): 11:14pm On Feb 08, 2023

Sorry! I actually meant the legislative arm. CBN has its own act, just like INEC, and they followed all the guidelines.
CBN guildline can not go against the law setting it up, otherwise it will be deemed unconstitutional by the judiciary.

For example, if the law setting up CBN states that it can't reject and money it already approved as legal tender through the Executive but it then sets a guildline that is against that law, the guildline will be deemed unconstitutional by the judiciary.

That's why this case is in the court.
PoliticsRe: Malami Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss State’s Lawsuit On Naira Redesign by Iamgrey5(m): 11:10pm On Feb 08, 2023
blank:
And only new guidelines issued by the legislature can change it. Definitely not the Supreme Court.
The supreme court will interprete the guildline set by the legislature, they don't change anything.
PoliticsRe: Malami Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss State’s Lawsuit On Naira Redesign by Iamgrey5(m): 10:59pm On Feb 08, 2023

Nothing is being disputed here! CBN has an act which was legislated by the judiciary and co signed by the executive, which now makes it a law. What Judiciary can do now is to further amend that act, otherwise, the act would still subsist. It just like saying because judiciary made an electoral act, then it's no longer a law. Once a legislation is made, and signed by the executive, it has become a biding law, except it's amended by the same judiciary and signed by the executive.
Judiciary don't make laws, they only interprete it.

The legislative arm of government makes laws.
PoliticsRe: Malami Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss State’s Lawsuit On Naira Redesign by Iamgrey5(m):

Interpretation is different from making decisions for them. CBN and federal government didn't actually violate its own CBN acts and guidelines on legal tender change. They followed all the due process and timeline stated in the CBN act. I will quote you when the SC sends this case to the dustbin. The ruling of the court was an order of interim injunction, and not the main substance. The case would be heared on 15th, and I hope it's decided on that day without any form of adjournment.
@ emboldened is the disputed part

Cbn doesn't have its own guidelines, it was established by the legislative arm of governmnent.
PoliticsRe: Malami Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss State’s Lawsuit On Naira Redesign by Iamgrey5(m): 10:18pm On Feb 08, 2023
vicdom:
You are right! The constitution has empowered CBN on any decisions made with regards to monetary polices and any physical policies lies in the exclusive list of the executive arms, and as such, no court has jurisdiction to determine how things are run therein.
if that's is the case.

The judiciary are still tasked with interpretation of the law.

The decision taken by CBN is not in the Exclusive list.

Everything I said in my post reechoed here.

Supreme Court has no jurisdiction over this case. If the plaintiffs were serious, they know that the right place to institute the case is at the High Court.

What the lawyers of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara have done is abuse of court process.

The dispute between different branches of the executive can be taken straight to the supreme court even in developed countries like America.

The Row vs Wade repeal

The Affirmative action repeal case still going on

If the action is deemed unconstitutional by the supreme court, it's reversed immediately.
PoliticsRe: Malami Asks Supreme Court To Dismiss State’s Lawsuit On Naira Redesign by Iamgrey5(m):
Aren't the judiciary tasked with interpretation of the law

So it is hard to argue that the Supreme court has no jurisdiction over hearing a case that deals with the disputed interpretation of the law amongst the different branches of the Executive arm of government.

The Governors challenge the central bank that it has wrongly interpreted the law over the deadline set to stop the old Naira note as a legal tender, while the central bank in its opinion believe it has not wrongly interpreted the law.

It's only logical that the judiciary step in to rightfully interprete the law after hearing both sides of the argument.

The policy of introducing new naira note is very different from the Argument above.
