RomanceLadies, who Knows You Can Sue A Man For Promising To Marry You And Not Doing That by iamstanc(op): 11:59pm On Feb 27, 2018
He said we will get married
He said I’m the only one for him and said he would propose to me…
He said he loves me and will marry me but didn’t pop the question! Yen yen yen!!

I know… stop crying.. unfortunately what you are looking for “sympathy” isn’t here, as I’m not in the business of sympathizing with people, meet your therapist for that…
you can sue a man for promising to marry you and not doing that

He promised to marry me
He said we will get married
He said I’m the only one for him and said he would propose to me…
He said he loves me and will marry me but didn’t pop the question! He promised to marry me

I chose this topic due to some certain reasons best known to me and also because we’ve seen men turn many Nigerian ladies to Lords of the rings.. where they decorate them with beautiful engagement rings and years gone down the lane, the man reneges on his promise to Marry the lady.. It can pain ehn! I mean Wakanda Man is that?
So dear Ladies, let’s drink a bottle of Orijin in advance for what I’m about to say to you.
You can sue that guy for promising to marry you and then NOT marrying you in turn..
Why? Well… because this is a BREACH!
So technically in our legal Lingua, there’s already a “Breach Of Promise to Marry” Yes! I know it sounds absurd yeah? But it’s the truth… promising to marry someone is a social contract and the failure to carry out that obligation is a breach which Is punishable with a Remedy (in form of damages).
That is to say unequivocally that under the lens and jurisdiction of the Nigerian law, an agreement or a promise to marry a person is viewed as a legally binding contract, and if a party can succinctly prove that there was in fact a promise to marry, and the other party reneges, then a legal action / claim can be made out of this.
I’m sure somewhere in your head, you are thinking “is this one mad? What am I taking legal actions for against someone who says he doesn’t want to marry me again?”.

In truth you are right, but the role of the court in this is to ensure that justice is served and the aggrieved and injured party is well Compensated for the damaged caused by the person who breached the promises to marry.
So how can I even know if I will win my case that he promised to marry me?
It’s simple, here are facts that needs to be proved for you to have a strongly Built case, as he who asserts MUST proof:
1- That there was indeed a promise to marry
Now ladies, don’t get this confused.. you both discussed sunrise in the Bahamas and sunset in Alabama doesn’t mean he has promised to marry you. You both discussing possibilities of growing old together in future and watching your grand kids play golf while you sip a bottle of “ Domaine de la Romanee-Conti” on the golf course isn’t a promise to marry.
The best and most viable way to show that there was indeed an actual promise to Marry is by showing that the baby boy did put a ring on it… sure Beyoncé gave you all that advice already. You will need as much evidence as possible to corroborate this evidence as possible, simply because he could deny it and claim that he was coerced, and you must prove beyond reasonable doubt that he willfully proposed to you.
Evidence me like:
-photos and videos of him proposing, receipt of payment for Ring, voice recordings, Text messages, emails, letters sent etc would do well to prove that there was truly an intention to marry.
2- The other party must have defaulted and failed to honor his promise to marry you.
The fact that he decided to shift the wedding date or postpone the agreed wedding doesn’t necessarily mean he has reneged on his promise, however in some obviously apparent event, where he has postponed the wedding severally and deliberately, you can claim that the Party has failed to honored the promise, as it is evidential that the party doesn’t want to forge ahead with the marriage.
What are the types of damages that can be awarded in this type of civil claim?
– Damages for loss of finances if any was invested by the other party towards the promised marriage. Finances like Aso- ebi, wedding gowns and suit, bridal shower, bridal train gown, rental of hall, airplane and hotel booking expense etc
– Damages in compensation for injury to the health of the aggrieved party
Hope you have been able to learn one or two things from today’s teaching..

AgricultureProud Daughter Shares Photos Of Her Dad,his Bountiful Barn(a Wake Up Call) by iamstanc(op): 6:10pm On Jan 03, 2018
Here's what Alago Chinwendu Angel shared on facebook below with photos

#MyDad & #Agriculture
Today I visited my dad's farm and barn.
His name is Mr. Alago Emmanuel I. He's a farmer and an industrialist. A refined learned gentleman at that and I'm proud to be his daughter.
I came back for Christmas celebration and was marveled by what I saw. Without incentive of any sort from the government, he's doing his best in contributing to the growth of this nation's economy in his own little way. I'm glad I'm part of this family and investment.
Agriculture is for everyone, without this, the world will be wallowing in serious hunger and thirst.
For decades, agriculture has been associated with the production of essential food crops. At present, agriculture above and beyond farming includes forestry, dairy, fruit cultivation, poultry, bee keeping, mushroom, arbitrary, etc. Today, processing, marketing, and distribution of crops and livestock products etc. are all acknowledged as part of current agriculture.
Thus, agriculture could be referred to as the production, processing, promotion and distribution agricultural products. Agriculture plays a critical role in the entire life of a given economy.
Agriculture is the backbone of the economic system of a given country. In addition to providing food and raw material, agriculture also provides employment opportunities to very large percentage of the population.
Agriculture, as we all know, is the backbone of any country. For example, the major population of India is working as farmers accounting for around 16% of the total GDP. This ratio is enough to say that India is highly dependent on its agriculture as a huge amount of land is used for it.
There is no doubt that agriculture plays a crucial role in the overall growth of any country and so it is necessary to ensure its development.
Special attention should be given to this sector so that farmers use the latest technology for agriculture that results in higher yield. Better the agriculture, higher will be the growth of the nation.
The impact of agriculture on the country’s growth is definitely quite high and that is why efforts needs to be made to improve it. Various schemes should be integrated for the betterment of the farmers along with guiding them on the new ways of farming.
Measures need to be taken to overcome the loss due to heavy or inadequate rainfall so that the farmers can live a happy life.
Agriculture is not only the major sector of the country but a powerful one as well. Its importance cannot be denied as it accounts to the high GDP.
Hence, the importance of agriculture cannot be undermined.
#It provides livelihood to the people – In order to satisfy the wants of the country, agriculture needs to very powerful. In India about 70% of the total population depends on the agriculture and is one of the sources of livelihood for the people especially in the rural area.
#It contributes towards the national income – As already stated above that agriculture is definitely one of the biggest sectors accounting to the high GDP and many countries depend on it. This includes India as well where agriculture is the prime source of income for several families. Thus you can say that agriculture accounts for the national income and is an important sector to ponder over.

#It helps in economic development – It helps in improving the economic conditions of the country thereby affecting the economic growth by leaps and bounds. It is very clear that agriculture has a big impact on living standard of the people which in turn affects the overall development and progress of the nation. So when it comes to the economic development, many countries rely on it.

#It offers food security – The people of the country require food in order to fulfill their requirements and if the agriculture is good, it easily helps to satisfy their wants rather than taking it from other countries. The surplus stock can then be traded thereby getting more profits. So a sense of security can be developed as the country can be rest assured that they can accomplish the needs of the citizens.
#It serve as a source of food for its citizens – The agriculture provides food items to the country which helps to prevent buying the same from countries. This reduces the problem to a large extent and proves beneficial in the growth of the nation too. It is better if the country does farming in most of the staple food products.
I can continue going on and on, on the importance of agriculture but I have to stop here. We can do ourselves good by planting even if it's veges in our individual homes. Agriculture pays a lot. I'm a living witness to this. I, my family and most people around us have gained a lot from this.
You too can do better than this!
The picture below is that of dad and I in his barn.

SportsPremier League Preview Date, Time, Venue And Predictions (game-week 19) by iamstanc(op): 12:32am On Dec 22, 2017
The busy festive fixtures start on Friday at the Emirates Stadium with a top of the table clash involving fourth and fifth place. There is a key relegation battle taking place at the Bet365 Stadium in what promises to be an action packed weekend.

Arsenal vs Liverpool
Date: 22/12/17
Time: 8:45pm
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Fourth-place Liverpool are away to Arsenal, who are a spot below in fifth-place in the star match of the round. In the reverse fixture played in August, the Reds completely outclassed the Gunners’, an outcome which coincided with the transfer of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal to Liverpool within a few hours of the aftermath of that thrashing.

Liverpool have a potent strike force which will definitely breach a shaky backline, while Arsenal’s attack could equally be devastating and we should expect goals at both ends between two teams who have conceded an equal number of goals (20).

Prediction: 2-3

Everton vs Chelsea
Date: 23/12/17
Time: 1:30pm
Venue: Goodison Park

Chelsea travel to a resurgent Everton side, who have won four of their last five league matches and appear to be enjoying a new lease of life under Sam Allardyce.

The champions have being inconsistent lately, a shock defeat at lowly West Ham United a pointer to their mixed season.

Everton are a different team to the side which lost at Stamford Bridge in August and the added strain of Chelsea’s midweek league cup involvement could see the Toffees physically prepared than their more illustrious opponents, though we don’t expect Chelsea to lose on a ground where they have often found joy.

Prediction: 1-2

Brighton vs Watford
Date: 23/12/17
Time: 4:00pm
Venue: American Express Stadium

Brighton host a sinking Watford team in a game which could go either way based on both teams form. The Hornets managed by Marco Silva started the season like a house on fire, but a run of four defeats in their last five games has seen them drop to 10th on the log.

The hosts have earned a reputation of being a side that draw a lot of games at home. Considering the reverse fixture was a goalless affair which saw Miguel Britos sent-off for a wild challenge on Anthony Knockaert, we expect to see goals in this fixture.

Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City vs Bournemouth
Date: 23/12/17
Time: 4:00pm
Venue: Etihad Stadium

League leaders Manchester City should make light work of a struggling Bournemouth on their way to earning what should be a 17th successive Premier League win.

Coach Pep Guardiola can afford to utilise a few of his fringe players who have struggled for game time this season, the likes of Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan coming to mind, as the Citizens look set for another domineering day in the office.

Prediction: 3-0

Stoke City vs West Brom
Date: 23/12/17
Time: 4:00pm
Venue: Bet365 Stadium

Mark Hughes might have one last opportunity to salvage his Stoke City job when he leads the Potters at home to 19th-place West Brom. Times are not the best for both sides, Stoke on an alarming slump which saw them bashed by West Ham in the penultimate round and now have gone 180-minutes without scoring a goal.

West Brom scored their goal first under Alan Pardew’s managerial reign against Manchester United, Gareth Barry the scorer but we still expect them to come short against Stoke City.

Prediction: 1-0

Swansea City vs Crystal Palace
Date: 23/12/17
Time: 4:00pm
Venue: Liberty Stadium

Manager less Swansea City are home to a much improved Crystal Palace team who are not totally clear of the drop zone. Bottom place Swansea City look destined for the drop this season, though they are just four points from safety.

We expect this to be a high scoring fixture, last season’s 5-4 result coming to mind. Swansea City’s last two games have seen four goals scored-eight in total-, while Crystal Palace last three successive league ties have produced a total of 10 goals, though we expect Palace to emerge victorious, a third successive victory which takes them further clear of the drop zone.

Prediction: 2-3

West Ham United vs Newcastle United
Date: 23/12/17
Time: 4:00pm
Venue: London Stadium
West Ham United are favoured to compound the woes of Newcastle United at the London Stadium on Saturday. The Magpies are winless in nine successive league games and it looks to get into double figures against a side who have picked up form and momentum in the past fortnight.

Andy Carroll, a former Newcastle United won’t be too pleased about slaying his former employers, but he will have to be professional in the discharge of his duties as the Hammers look poised to keep a fourth successive clean sheet, pick maximum points and extending their unbeaten run to four games.

Prediction: 2-0

Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspur
Date: 23/12/17
Time: 6:30pm
Venue: Turf Moor

Sixth-place Burnley, parading the joint best defence in the league together with Manchester City and Manchester United are home to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Clarets are known not to be a high scoring team, while their opponents on the other hand are known to be loud scoring goals, but could be clipped against opponents who are renowned not to give much away in terms of conceding goals.

We expect a score draw to settle this tie, an exact replica of the reverse result at Wembley Stadium.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City vs Manchester United
Date: 23/12/17
Time: 8:45pm
Venue: King Power Stadium

Leicester City were brought back to earth after suffering a demolition at the hands of Crystal Palace at the weekend, ending a run of four successive wins. The Foxes’ welcome back Wilfred Ndidi as they face Manchester United in a tie which could go either way.

The Red Devils’ were knocked out of the league cup midweek but can count on the availability of Paul Pogba for the Premier League, his three match ban elapsed. We expect this game to produce the spark as both sides look vulnerable and a share of the points should be ideal.

Prediction: 2-2

Disclaimer- Predictions are just for fun, based on analysis. We do NOT sell or guarantee results.

EducationLife Without Limitations: Read Story Of A Blind Unizik Law Student by iamstanc(op): 8:08pm On Dec 20, 2017
ABILITY IN DISABILITY
I always thought that the worst thing that can happen to a man on earth is being blind. Losing your sight was catastrophic to me until I met Kingsley. There was paradigm shift in my mental cognitive.
Kingsley Is a law student in my school, Unizik. The first time I met him, I felt pity and so much compassion for this young man not knowing 7that he was actually enjoying life like a normal complete human being will do. In him I saw ability in disability.
The amazing thing about Kingsley was that he smiles a lot. You will never see him unhappy. He does not feel pity for himself at all. Always positive in life. If you see his white clothe as a law student, sparkling clean. He washes and iron his clothe by himself. He dresses smartly which makes me wonder that boys with their sight are actually blind when it comes to dressing.
Kingsley stays alone. He does not have a roommate meaning that he does everything by himself. His bed neatly dressed, no dirt in his room. You cannot even feel any sand in the floor of his apartment. The physics in my head can't explain how a blind boy can do all these.
The one that shocked me most was when Kingsley cooked. O my God!!!. Come see delicious Egusi soup with meat. How did he know the quantity of ingredient to put in the food?. It is really amazing. When I finished eating his food, I discovered that he cooked better than most persons. Sorry for guys that can't cook. Seriously, you have no reason to say that you can't cook a delicious meal for yourself. Please if you can't, I think you should learn. It is very necessary.
Kingsley does virtually everything with help or no help. Even though he doesn't stay with his blind colleagues, he is still perfect, organized and wonderful in his ways.
Do you know that he also do networking business. This boy will not cease to amaze me. He is a business man. If you see how he reasons, talks to people when any business idea comes up, you will really look well to see who is talking. He remind me so much of Nick Vujicic, the man born without arms and legs but have done exploit in his ministry. He has met seven Presidents and talked to millions of persons. I see Kingsley in this manner.
Academically, king is doing wonderfully well. He goes to school by himself. All you need to do is take him to the bus stand and off he goes. His result is comparable to most of his course mate in his department. He normally learns with audio record from the class.
Well, it hasn't been easy for this boy. He has challenges but despite all he keeps pushing forward in life. He never allow what people say define him. He is a happy man and by God's grace, he will definitely be the change in time to come in this life.
I will not forget to appreciate the school management for their effort in helping those with disabilities to get a good formal Education especially in the prestigious law faculty. The Vice chancellor Prof Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, God will keep blessing you and your managerial teams. The comfort and sense of belonging given to the disabled persons to learn, not just to learn but most importantly, The necessary attention given to them is overwhelming and encouraging. The love and hope is abundant. I just pray that the Good work will keep moving on and the school will be recognized in time to come. Also to the faculty of law, your labour of love will never be in vain. "VOX POPULI" ( voice of the people with disabilities).
Will really love to see someone with disability to study physics. You can never underestimate the power in disability.

Music/RadioDownload Music : Presto _ Get It by iamstanc(op): 11:47pm On Dec 19, 2017

Its a new hit tune from the prolific topnotch upcoming artist from the southeast, who goes by the name "Presto". This incredibly hot jam is titled "Get It" and it seems to be his first official single.

Rising star signed to "Pg Entertainment ", Patrick popularly known by his friends and fans as "Presto", is a singer, rapper, song writer and performer, among many other things who is currently 17years of age and manages to swoon the head of listeners with his highly tongue-twisting rap lyrics.

In an exclusive with Luckynewsinfo, He stated, "I started my music career at a very tender age. I've always had dis zeal for music and was obsessed and fascinated by rap songs ever since I was in Basic 4... Many people saw it as a distraction, especially my teachers & Parents  and they tried to curb it, buh it was like a parasite eating at me. As I grew, I developed my rapping skills by listening to established rappers, constant, everyday practice and rap battles held amongst my classmates in secondary school. I decided to go officially into music because of my unique style of music and because I want to show the world what I have in me, and of course, earn a living".

The hot tempo, fast paced pop vibe, which seemed to be inspired by the artists musical journey, blended  with unique straight to the heart lyrics, and delivered with the  young artist's American kinda accent would leave you craving more and make you repeat the song all over and over again...

Download, Sit back, listen and enjoy...Watch out for him in years to come,  This guy shows promise. You dont wanna miss it!!!

CultureEbuka And Agbada Regalia: My Take -okoro Mark Ogbonnaya by iamstanc(op): 10:25am On Nov 24, 2017
EBUKA AND AGBADA REGALIA: MY TAKE.

By

Okoro Mark Ogbonnaya (Maazị Ogbonnaya)

When people were busy talking about Ebuka agbada beating others during Banky W traditional marriage I did nothing but went into full research about him and his personality. I noticed that it is not all about the tailor and the material but the one putting it on. "Ejiji nwere onye ọ na-ekwesị ekwesị".

This is not the first time Ebuka's regalia is causing one to salivate. The below photos show his outfit in cultural dressing, be it Yoruba or Igbo. Anyone he comes in, he stands so tall.

Ebuka is promoting Igbo traditional identity. From the hand fan on his hand, you will see his title and full name. He put nze in his name. Yes, many people have forgotten or know nothing about the word "Nze". But seeing his title as nze whether he is or not will arouse identical or cultural consciousness in people.

His name is: Ebuka Obi Uchendụ. There is no foreign name attached to his. Perhaps he has, but he dropped it and moved ahead with his native name. If Ebuka is one of those Igbo brothers who have lost their identity and bear Mhizta Paulo John MacArthur, such name couldn't have rhyme with the agbada as we now have what is called "Ebuka agbada". What do I mean? His nativity must have been lost or misplaced. Now Ebuka's is traceable.

His main title is Nze Nnakenyi. This is a big title. For one to be regarded as a full Igbo man, he must have taken a title. This title "Nnakenyi" has a long way to go to expose his cultural orientation despite his academic and worldly exposures.

In a nutshell, while people are busy discussing about his agbada and traditional marriage of Banky W, I researched fully into other aspects people don't know about him. Ebuka has been attending different Igbo Festivals home and abroad. The previous Ọkịja festival, he attended where he snapped with Bright Chimezie, the king of zigima music. Ebuka doesn't only dress to attend weddings, that is one facet of his personalities.

Ebuka is a Lawyer and a TV host. He studied Law from the University of Abuja and American University Washington College of Law. He then studied at the American University Washington DC with Masters of Laws degree specializations in intellectual property as well as Communication laws. He is from Ọkịja Anambra State but was born on the 14th July 1982 in Benin City, Edo State. Unlike some who think they have arrived, his educational background, western exposures never quench his identical and linguistic desires. He knows his root.

All these ladies tripping on him, Ebuka got engaged with Cynthia Obianodo, HR manager on April 15, 2015 and they got married in Lagos on the 6th February 2016. They have a child. Trip no more... hahahahaha. He currently lives in Lagos with his family. Ebuka has won many awards and recognitions.

Ebuka keep slaying. Slaying king with brain.

Celebrities7 Celebrities Who Has Fallen During Performance by iamstanc(op): 9:44am On Nov 23, 2017
Accidents are prone to happen at any time of the day.
And for entertainers, asides the regular wardrobe malfunction, one of the most embarrassing accidents that can happen is falling during performances.
Here are some Nigerian entertainers who have fallen off/on stage in the past

1. Burna Boy
It may have happened in 2012 but the internet never forgets. Burna Boy was at the Headies and then, had a great fall and all the king’s men couldn’t put Burna Boy together again.

2. Seyi Shay
While performing her song ‘Yolo Yolo’ at the 2017 AFRIMAs, Seyi Shay had a great fall but regained composure almost immediately and continued dancing like nothing happened.

3. Small Doctor
The event was DJ Jimmy Jatt’s Jump Off and Small Doctor fell to his face while performing his song ‘Mosquito Killer’

4. Mr P
During their performance at the Beat FM Triple 9 concert in Lagos, the P-Square brothers were performing ‘Bring it on’ when Peter Okoye apparently stepped too close to the centre edge of the five-foot elevated stage and fell off. He tumbled and landed on the floor, hitting his back against the protective metal barricades used to shield fans from the stage.

5. Denrele Edun
Media personality, Denrele Edun has also been a victim of falling on the stage. He was a host at the Pink Matter fashion show in Port-Harcourt and decided to whip his hair to ‘Indomie’ by CDQ. Unfortunately, it didn’t end well for him as he landed on the ground.

6. Tonto Dikeh
When Iyanya had a concert in London, Tonto Dikeh was scheduled to perform at it. However, she appeared to be a little high and it ended up with her on the floor.

7. Ruby Gyang
In 2014, Chocolate City singer, Ruby Gyang had a fall during her performance at the One Mic Naija concert in Lagos. She was assisted up and continued with grace.

PoliticsDr Ekwueme’s Legacy Would Never Die : Obiano Mourns Ekwueme by iamstanc(op): 10:16am On Nov 20, 2017
The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano has described the demise of the former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme as a huge loss to Nigeria.

Reacting to the news of the death from his Aguleri country home where he had gone to mark his victory in the last Saturday’s election with his family, Governor Obiano said that he was yet to come to terms with the reality of Dr Ekwueme’s death as it was hard to contemplate the void that his passage has created.

“A great iroko has fallen. Nigeria has lost a statesman. Ndigbo have lost an illustrious son. Anambra has lost a father. But I have lost both a father and a friend. I have lost a mentor. This is a big loss on all fronts,” the Governor declared.

Narrating the direct influence the late statesman had had on him, Governor Obiano further said, “I was close to Dr Ekwueme. I sought his advice on so many things and he was always ready to help. He attended every major event we have held in the past three years in our efforts to make Anambra a better place. You always knew where you stood with him on any issue. His death is a big personal loss to me,” Governor Obiano explained.

The governor further lamented that the elder statesman passed away at a trying period in the life of the nation when his bridge-building talent was most needed.
Describing him as the “architect” of a balanced Nigeria, Governor Obiano observed that only few Nigerians living or dead could match Dr Ekwueme’s contributions to a fair and just federation in the nation’s seemingly endless search for peace and equity.

He pointed out that even in his last days, Dr Ekwueme fought gallantly to ensure that equity prevailed in his home state of Anambra, speaking out fearlessly in favour of sustaining the geopolitical balance that has entrenched peace in the state.
“Dr Ekwueme’s life is an open book that should inspire generations of Nigerians who need a beacon to guide them into evolving as true patriots who are willing to make sacrifices for the greatness of the country. He is an icon whose place is assured in our hearts in Anambra State,” Governor Obiano further observed.

According to him, Dr Ekwueme’s legacy would never die because whenever the story of modern Nigeria is told, Alex Ekwueme’s name would be remembered.

“I wish to express my deepest condolences to the illustrious Ekwueme family and the people of Oko, his home town and to Ndi Anambra in general. Ndonu Ndi Anambra. I pray that God Almighty will give us the fortitude to bear this grave loss,” Governor Obiano further added.

CultureLanguage Is A Culture Culture Is People.no One Lives Without Language by iamstanc(op): 7:00pm On Nov 17, 2017
Language is a culture. Culture is people. No one lives without language. - Okoro Mark Ogbonnaya

The Igbo nation is one of the most populous of the indigenous African peoples almost equaling their population in the diaspora. The Igbo are an ethnic group native to the present-day south-central and south-eastern Nigeria. UbuntuFM's Ikenna Okeh recently recorded the interview with 'Maazi' Okoro Mark Ogbonnaya as follows:
It’s nice to get in touch with you, Maazi Ogbonnaya
It is my pleasure...
What is the significance of the title ‘Maazi’, as is noticed to precede your name and a few other’s in recent times?
'Maazị' could mean different things to different people. To the Ngwa tribe of the Igbo nation, ‘Maazi’ goes with greeting to an elderly person. But generally, ‘Maazị’ means ‘Mister’ or ‘Master’. The full title of mine is "Maazị Igbo", meaning ‘Master of the Igbo Language’. It is what any man teaching Igbo Language, literature and culture is called.

I was given the title while in Junior Secondary 2 by my then Igbo female teacher due to my remarkable contribution and outstanding performances in Igbo studies. Prior to this time, my grandmother referred me to as 'Maazị'. People chose to call me Maazị because they said that I am a young man with an elderly brain. Before I knew it, it has hopped into my name.
So, tell us about your work and its relevance to the Igbo nation of West Africa.
I have written in almost all the topics affecting the Igbo nation. Through stories I gathered from my late aged-grandmother, old books I have read and stories people told around me, I was able to gather information about the past. I was able to narrate past issues which involved inter and intra-community conflicts, to preserve knowledge and history for the future generation. I decided to write in Igbo.
My works span across academics, family lives, communal issues, conflicts, government, careers etc. There is no code-switching or code-mixing in my works. Everything is purely Igbo. However, to say the least, one of the prominent relevance of my works to the Igbo nation of West Africa is that they preserve their language and culture through Literature, now and for posterity.
There is a forecast that in the near future the Igbo language would become one of the indigenous African languages to go extinct. Do you subscribe to this opinion?
I can say "Yes" and "No". Why do I say a ‘yes’? As a linguist I am conversant with the following terms: Language Shift and Language Death. In a situation where the owners of a language fail to communicate or write using their language, the language either metamorphoses into another language or it dies.
I also say a "No" to the threat because I have done so many projects in the Igbo language and I see some other youths of my generation doing the same in different angles, to keep the language breathing. I know quite number of persons whom my works have aroused; their interests developed to grab the bull of their language by its horns. When everyone stand to see his language as a blessing and communicate with it daily you will see that the forecast will be proven false.
But if the Igbo people fail to communicate, speak and write with the Igbo Language, I am afraid the language will die and shift to other languages, as is the case with Latin. The fate of the Igbo Language is in the hands of the Igbo people.
Evidently, the Igbo language is not restricted to communication purposes. Its subtleties are laden with the cultural values of the Igbo people. Does it then follow that a threat to the existence of the language is also tantamount to a possible extinction of the culture of the people?
Yes. Language is a culture. Culture is people. No one lives without language. Language and culture are like husband and wife. They cannot produce children if there is no intercourse. In Igbo Culture for instance, kolanut is a great cultural phenomenon. Without kolanut, no event takes place in Igboland. But one important rule of the kolanut is that it doesn't understand any foreign languages. While using it for cultural gatherings or events in Igboland, one must speak Igbo with it. Hence the saying "ọjị anaghị anụ Bekee" (the kolanut doesn't understand English).
Now, assuming that the Igbo Language dies, the cultural aspects of the Igbo nation regarding the kolanut will die too. What about cultural dances and performances? What about various occasions and festivals like traditional marriages, funerals, masquerades, New Yam Festivals? These events are well represented using the Igbo Language. How can a generation without a native language competency or interest handle these rites that require native-language competency? It is glaring that when such ones cannot use the languages of these rites, the culture and tradition embedded in them will fizzle away and die. No language, no culture.
How exactly does your work forestall such an apparently dismal future?
The most important thing is that my works are written in Igbo Language. This is the first approach to fight the future threats facing the Igbo fate. While writing about the contemporary issues, I do well to incorporate cultural consciousness into my works.
The cultures of the Igbo nation include how they speak. And one significant aspect of the Igbo Cultural and Communicative competence lies in the use of proverbs. Chinụa Achebe defined it as "the palm oil with which the Igbo eat words". Igbo wisdom and philosophy are embedded in words of proverbs. Anyone who says or interprets proverbs is seen as an experienced fellow.
While reading my books, you will be swimming in the ocean of the Igbo proverbs and other figurative expressions. My works are a replica of the Igbo essence. You will see the Igbo nation, culture, language and prisms through my works. This effort will go a long way to forestall such an apparently dismal future regarding the Igbo Language and Cultural extinction.
Could there be a possibility that the growing decline of the Igbo language is attributable to the diluting effects of urbanisation, mostly if one is to consider that the Igbo people make a high percentage of the African Diaspora?
I actually don't believe that. Igbo people in diaspora still maintain their native names. Chimamanda Ngọzi Adichie for instance left Nigeria to the United States of America at the early age of 19. She didn't allow Western influence and the so-called civilization to rob her of her cultural and linguistic identity. She still maintains her name, speak and write in Igbo too. Hardly will you see any Igbo man or woman in the diaspora without an Igbo name. They are aware that language is an identity.
Coming to Igboland presently, many people see their native names as devilish and primitive. They threw them away and adopt indescribable names like Linda, Mhiz Anabel Mhiz, Potipher, John, Francis, Chrysanthus, Horsefall, etcetera, so as to sound Westernized. Such folks never leave Igboland to anywhere. They fail to understand that language is preserved through names. When you bear an Igbo name, it makes you conscious of your language and identity.
I will disagree to the point that the reason for the growing decline of the Igbo Language is caused by those in diaspora. Millions of Igbo at home cannot even speak or write Igbo. When you meet such ones, they will proudly tell you: "I am Ibo but I cannot hear, write or speak Ibo. Please speak in English". Astonishingly, these folks were born and raised in Igboland.
Urbanisation and Diaspora have nothing to do with the decline of Igbo Language, but the attitude of an Igbo man towards his language does. Meet your Igbo brother at home or abroad, he will cringe away from you the moment you open your mouth to speak Igbo.
The major problem facing the Igbo Language is the Igbo parents. They punish their children for speaking Igbo as they believe that fluency in English alone is a mark of outstanding intelligence.
Children grow into adults with this mindset, and then go on to inculcate it into their own children.

Nairaland GeneralEarthquake Hits Iran-iraq Border As Death Toll Rises To 328 by iamstanc(op): 11:14am On Nov 13, 2017
At least 328 people have died in a huge 7.3 magnitude earthquake that has struck near the Iran/Iraq border - and been felt as far away as Turkey, Kuwait, Iran and the United Arab Emirates.

More than 320 people have been killed in Iran's Kermanshah province on the Iraqi border, the provincial deputy governor told state television.

And more than 5,300 have been injured in the massive tremor.

"There are still people under the rubble. We hope the number of dead and injured won't rise too much, but it will rise," Mojtaba Nikkerdar said more than 60 of the victims were in the town of Sarpol-e Zahab, about 15 km (10 miles) from the border.

Kurdish health officials also said at least four people were killed in Iraq and there were 50 injured.

The earthquake struck along the border with Iran.

Images from Iran have showed buildings reduced to rubble - including one which collapsed on a car.

"The quake was felt in several Iranian provinces bordering Iraq ... Eight villages were damaged ... Electricity has been cut in some villages and rescue teams have been dispatched to those areas," TV reported.

The earthquake hit 103 kms (64 miles) southeast of the city of As-Sulaymaniyah in Iraq, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The tremors began at about 9.30pm local time in Iraq.

Water and electricity lines were severed in some villages and cities in the Western Kermanshah province and communities stayed out on the streets because of the threat from aftershocks, a local Red Crescent official told TV.

Many houses in rural parts of the province are made of mud bricks, which have been known to crumble easily in quake-prone Iran.

The U.S. Geological Survey initially said the quake was of a magnitude 7.2, before revising it to 7.3.
An Iraqi Meteorology official said the earthquake had shaken large parts of the country.
They put the magnitude at about 6.5.
Many residents in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, rushed out of houses and tall buildings in panic.

"I was sitting with my kids having dinner and suddenly the building was just dancing in the air," said Majida Ameer, who ran out of her building in the capital's Salihiya district with her three children.

"I thought at first that it was a huge bomb.
"But then I heard everyone around me screaming: 'Earthquake! '"

There were similar scenes in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, and across other cities in northern Iraq, close to the quake's epicentre.

Iraq's meteorology centre advised people to stay away from buildings and not to use elevators, in case of aftershocks.

SportsAngry Nigerians Blast Ezenwa, Call For Enyeama's Return by iamstanc(op): 12:03pm On Nov 11, 2017
Following Ikechukwu Ezenwa’s less than impressive showing against Algeria in the final 2018 World Cup qualifier on Friday, Nigerians have take to twitter to blast the goalkeeper, while also calling for the return of Vincent Enyeama.

There has been a debate on whether Enyeama should be persuaded out of retirement after Carl Ikeme went down with Leukemia.

Daniel Akpeyi and Ezenwa are the two goalkeepers who have auditioned for the No 1 position since then, but neither have really impressed, even though the latter had a decent showing in the games against Cameroon and Zambia.

But with Ezenwa’s below-par showing against Algeria, it has now renewed calls for the return of Enyeama. See more of the tweets below.

PoliticsANAMBRA GUBER:ANAMBRA SOUTH; Between Sense And Sentiments by iamstanc(op): 7:24pm On Nov 08, 2017
ANAMBRA DECIDES 2017: ANAMBRA SOUTH, BETWEEN SENSE AND SENTIMENT. – Aloy Uzoekwe
First a clarification; this is from the Anambra South Senatorial Zone of Anambra State. This clarification is necessary so that for what I am about to say nobody will accuse me of vested interest.
One of the unhealthy points of the present political wheeler dealing associated with the campaign for the election into the Anambra State Government house slated for the 18 November, this year is the support of some select political big wigs from the South Senatorial Zone of the State for the incumbent Governor, Chief Willie Obiano.
The support of these politicians for the Governor is not based on empirical proof of performance in office by the Governor, rather it is hinged on the mundane calculation that with the re-election of Chief Obiano, the time lag for their shot(s) at the governorship seat of the State will be shorter.
It is so given (or assumed) by this set of politicians that Obiano will have only four years more to lavish on the seat and leave by 2022; but in the likelihood of any of the other frontline contenders winning, they may wait till 2026.
With this typical Nigerian politician’s calculation and mindset, sense and reason on what leadership is all about or the quality that enthrones leadership are thrown overboard. It is more like ‘Ol’boy do quick, collect your share make I come take mine’.(One of the principal reasons for our political underdevelopment. But I digress).
Zoning of political offices especially the Executive stock is ideal to the extent it guarantees fair play and good governance. When the originators of rotational politics introduced it into our polity in 1994, they did so with the belief that an area so favoured by the arrangement will push forward its best materials and not laden the polity with mediocres.
Put succinctly it was not the intent of the fathers of zoning in our body politic that competence and good governance should be sacrificed on the altar of rotation expediency. Using sectional interest as the sole determinant for elective position spells doom for an entity. It engenders mediocrity, enthrones thievery, and entrenches misrule.
It is baffling seeing otherwise sensible men from the Anambra State South Senatorial Zone running around trying to outdo each other while attempting to impress the incumbent because each of them has been promised the baton come 2022 election time. But nothing can be more deceptive.
Campaigning for the Governor only on the premise of a promise that power will be handed over to the South Senatorial Zone in four years time is not only hollow and lazy, it is capricious and insensate. Leadership at the level of governorship of a State/Province is performance and ability driven.
Those who base their support for the re-election of the incumbent Governor solely on the whimsical permutation that such arrangement offers them a shorter route to realizing their political ambition in four years time are doing the State a great disservice.
They are contributing their quota to the continued stultification of the development of the State, infra-structurally and fiscally. Aga afu ukwu ehi zoro n’ala welu choba ya n’elu (you will first see the footmarks of the cow on the ground before you look for it).
The critical questions anybody should ask himself are; has the Governor actually delivered on his existing mandate? The realities on the ground in the State, do they match our expectations? If the answers are in the negative, is it not better the driver is changed midway in the journey than risk a fatal crash for all in the end? Okwa onye mara suba, afunyebere ya (Is it not when a person pounds well that more will be peeled for him)? How long shall we remain in sin for grace to abound in us?
In all the scheming going on, there is one basic fact which everybody has chosen to forget; the Anambra South Senatorial is the architect of its political problem in the State. It shot itself in the foot in 2003. It gave out the pie it was holding without any prodding from the other two zones, I will be concise. In 2003, the Anambra South Senatorial Zone held all the political power levers in the State, it dictated who got what in the political sphere of the State. The State Governor as at the time, Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju (1999 – 2003), was from the Southern Zone. Then the Governor fell out with the powers that be in the State (and they were all from the South Senatorial District). And they took the seat away from him, but rather than bequeath it to another person from the South Senatorial Zone they called Dr Chris Ngige from the Central Senatorial Zone and gave it to him. And as fate would have it, the Central Zone ended up doing eleven years (Ngige 3 years and Peter Obi eight years). With the above facts, is it not ridiculous that the South which aided the Central to rule for eleven years will now turn around to raise fears about the North ruling for twelve years? Ochuru onwe ya n’ugbo asina n’ugbo eruteghi (he who willingly evicts himself from a vehicle should not complain that the vehicle could not take him).
For the good of Anambra, what the South should do is to allow sound judgment and reason dictate its steps. We should save ourselves the odium of the logic for support based on sectional interest, after all we are all Anambrarians.
The campaigners for the re-election of the incumbent on the singular logic of power shift to the South Senatorial Zone in four years time should shelve their logic. The logic is medieval, and utterly selfish. They should pause in their pace, take a deep breath and introspect if their reason is actually altruistic and for the greater good of the people of the State or they are espousing it just to further their nest. They should equally ponder if by 2022, assuming they succeed, the State may not have been rendered fiscally irredemptive and infra-structurally irreparable. Whether Anambra would not have overtaken Imo State as a reference point of how a State should not be? My over all take on this is the people of Anambra should be allowed to select among the candidates standing for election, the Captain who can best pilot the ship and right the course of the State. They should not be coerced either physically or emotionally in making their choice.

SportsRonaldo Is FINISHED — Messi by iamstanc(op): 9:48am On Nov 08, 2017
Ronaldo has endured a nightmare start to the season, scoring just one La Liga goal for Real Madrid so far.

There seems to be genuine concern at the Bernabeu that their talisman is finished, with the 32-year-old approaching the twilight years of his career.

And Spanish website Don Balon claims that Lionel Messi thinks Ronaldo will never rediscover the form that has made him such a formidable opponent of the years.

Ronaldo won FIFA’s Player of the Year award last month for his exploits for Los Blancos last term, where he fired them to Spanish and European glory.

But the brutal fact is he has looked unworthy of that award based on this season’s performances.

He has eight goals across all competitions but Madrid’s domestic plight has coupled with his own.
Barcelona already sit eight points clear of Real Madrid at the summit, with Valencia sandwiched in between.

Don Balon say Messi also intends to up his game even further to beat Ronaldo to individual awards next season.

The 30-year-old supposedly reckons Ronaldo will be unable to match his own goalscoring exploits, with the Argentina international already having 12 for the current campaign.

But Barcelona’s performances as a team will no doubt determine what awards he scoops in 2018.

FIFA’s awards, while intended to be reflective of individual performances, often take how an individual’s team has fared into consideration.

Messi was the one exception to the rule back in 2010, where he won the accolade

Crime: Texas Church Killer Forced Girl, 13, To Pose Naked - Then Took Her Virginity by iamstanc(op): 9:31am On Nov 08, 2017
Twisted Texas church gunman Devin Kelley forced a girl aged 13 to pose naked for him and then took her virginity.

Brittany Adcock, now 22, says the paedophile’s death has finally brought an end to him stalking, tormenting and trying to bribe her.

She also revealed the man she has called a “monster” asked her to move in with him to be a topless maid.

He also boasted of filming his mum and sister with a secret camera he rigged up in the family bathroom.

Kelley murdered 26 people at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, in the US, on Sunday.

He was 18 when he approached Brittany at a shopping centre.
He asked for her number and he quickly turned their friendship sexual.

She said: “It wasn’t long after my 13th birthday but it didn’t deter him despite him being a man. Devin would beg to take pictures of me naked – to please him, I agreed.

“I was so naive. He was a lot older than me and I was bowled over an older guy would show interest in me.

“He took about a dozen pictures and then held them over me for the rest of his life.” Kelley pressured her into sex when she was still 13.

Brittany said: “Devin took my virginity. It was at my mother’s house. It was just awful when I look back.”

She ended the relationship but he pursued her – and continued to harass her over the years.

Brittany said: “One of the worst things was just after he married his second wife three years ago. He said he would take care of me on condition that I live with them as his topless maid.” The last time she heard from him was six months ago when he texted her a photo of a topless girl and asked if it was her.

Brittany also said Kelley set up a fake profile on Facebook to talk to her.
Kelley, 26, took his own life after his gun rampage. Brittany, from San Antonio, Texas, said: “He was a monster. The world is a better place now he is gone... I now know he was a paedophile. He used me to fulfil his sick kicks.”

She thinks Kelley became a “ticking timebomb” after being kicked out of the military after he was court-martialed by the US Air Force in 2012 for attacking his first wife and breaking his stepson’s skull.

The Air Force has launched a probe into why it failed to follow rules on alerting law enforcement agencies about Kelley’s crimes. He should have been barred from buying guns due to the domestic violence conviction.

It has also emerged he broke out of a psychiatric hospital while in the Air Force, after making death threats against superiors and trying to smuggle weapons on to his base.

He was captured at a bus station after escaping the hospital where he was sent after being charged with assaulting his wife and baby stepson.

Survivors of the church massacre have begun speaking out. Rosa Solis, who was shot in the arm, said Kelley walked up and down the church’s aisle, shouting: “Everybody dies.”

Rosa, who survived by pretending to be dead, added “people [were] screaming and crying” and children were yelling for their mums.

It is thought Kelley targeted the church after a feud with his mother-in-law, who is a parishioner there.

HeWrites:
Bobrisky is currently trending on Social Media right now, after news about his arrest was first published by IB9ja.

According to initial report, it was said his arrest was in connection with a social media war he had with entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani.

Now, according to new findings, a call was put through to Toyin Lawani, and her personal assistant who spoke to LIB said; “please she has nothing to do with that. You peoople should stop linking her to it”.
Another close associate to Toyin Lawani confirms her claim saying, ‘Toyin won’t stoop so low’.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Famous Cole, was also reached on phone but he said “I’m not aware of such arrest at the moment. Maybe he was invited for questioning or he went voluntarily to make a complaint’.

From the photos circulating (Pictured Above), Bobrisky is without any footwear and he looks visibly distraught which clearly means he didn’t go there voluntarily. He’s also not reachable at the moment as his mobile phone is switched off.LIB Reports.

A source however said that Bobrisky’s arrest may be connected to his social media post yesterday where he came out as ‘GAY’, a criminal offence with a 14-year jail term in Lagos State.

Nairaland GeneralThings Parent Should Tell Their Children About Abuse(rape)-victim Shares by iamstanc(op): 9:04pm On Nov 07, 2017
A teenager who was abducted at age 14 and raped for nine months says she wants parents across the world to tell their children three important things.

Elizabeth Smart was snatched from the bedroom she shared with her nine-year-old sister Mary Katherine in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 5 2002.

For months, the young teenager was raped and drugged while her captors forced her to drink alcohol and watch pornography.
Elizabeth was routinely left tethered to a tree without any food between extended periods of horrific abuse.

The 14-year-old's kidnappers - Brian David Mitchell and his wife Wanda Barzee - attempted to indoctrinate her with their religious beliefs.
Mitchell went by the name Emmanuel and described himself as a prophet.

Eventually, Mitchell was recognised walking down the street with a young girl wearing a wig and sunglasses.
A passerby reported him to police and Elizabeth was found less than 24 hours later.

Forward to Today, the now 30-year-old participated in an online forum

And one of the top rated questions read:

"In your opinion as a children's advocate, what are some practical, common sense steps parents can take to help their children avoid abuse? (And I guess I mean abuse in a general way, anything from extreme bullying to abduction.)"

Elizabeth replied with three clear points.

Make sure your child knows that they are loved unconditionally, and make sure your child knows what unconditionally means

Make sure that your child understands that no one has the right to hurt them or scare them in any way. It doesn’t matter what that person may be: family, friend, religious leader, community leader, it doesn’t matter

Should anyone hurt your child or threaten them in anyway, they need to tell you.

She later added, "Practice screaming, encourage your kids to fight back, there is a place and a time when it’s not only acceptable it’s encouraged."

Elizabeth has since become a campaigner against pornography and abuse.Mitchell is currently serving a life sentence for the abhorrent crime.

His wife Wanda Barzee was sentenced for 15 years for aggravated kidnapping.
