Family / Re: Could My Man Be The Source Of My Troubles? by iamtheprincipal: 7:16pm On Sep 05, 2014
Serenity22: Hello nairalanders,
Please I have a problem that has been eating me up which prompted me to join this site and I sincerely need advice though I don't know if this topic should be under family or religion. My story is a long one so please bear with me.

I am a 22years old girl, and I have been dating my man for 3yrs now. Before now I have only had one relationship all through my life and it didn't even last up to 6mths. Its not because am ugly, am very pretty rather it was because I wanted to face my studies and the guy couldn't cope with this so he left. Facing my studies paid off though in the sense that I graduated with a very good grade and I didn't even stay up to 2mths after my nysc before I got a good job.

Everything seemed fine and I was finaly ready to have relationship, that was how I met my current boyfriend, he is sweet and all that but their is a problem.

Ever since I met him, everything in my life has gone wrong,
First I lost my job, then I tried to further my studies, no head way with that too. Things were very hard for me. My uncle gave money to start a business when I couldn't secure another job and my man said he had a friend in d usa who could help me buy somethings and ship to naija, the guy collected d money and since then we have not been able to reach him.

When I met him, he was struggling and he still is, then I used to help him with money all d time while I was working, even his siblings are struggling, none of them seemed to be living well.
A life of struggling is not what I am used to as I come from an okay family whr everyone is doing well financially except me. Anytime a good thing is coming and I tell him the good news, everything automatically spoils. He once told me early in the relationship that his dad is diabolical, could it be that his badluck is rubbing off on me or am I just been paranoid? Has anyone here been with a particular person and things start going wrong as long as the person is in your life?

Girlfriend, you know the answer to this already. That guy isn't a good deal for you and in your very best interest, run as far as your legs can carry you from that 'destiny destroyer' you call a relationship, in a bid to save your future from the glaring doom that's already started to manifest.

tenzino: Sorry guyz... been busy lately. Well, i have gone through some of your comments. But on the contrary, I'm not here to quarrel with anyone. Time is precious to me, and I can't use it for such.

But this one struck me, "Must the Governor come to the camp to see the corpers". Well, I can only reply with this question, How would you feel visiting a friend, and after waiting in the sitting room for 2 - 3 hours, the person you went to visit never cared to come out and check on you

And Tightguy was reviewing my post for errors, Na wa 4 u o o ! Brother.. U get time o o o! Anyway, am a good learner, if you 're not comfortable with my writeup/english. Feel free to apply as my personal tutor... But i'm afraid 'cos I don't think there is anything you can teach me at this level. So please shut your trap! shocked

As for you "Iamtheprincipal" So which of laws restricts the Governor of a state from seeing the corpers I believe the corpers deserve same attention that was given to the NBA if not more. If he wasn't chanced on the first and last day, for christ sake, we were there for 3 weeks.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes i'm not an ingrate! I love one thing about the state and the community too. I was never harrassed, even though we slept in a primary school building all through, there was no day i looked for a pin. My belongings were all intact till the final day on camp. In that aspect, i commend the community, but another thing i didn't like was the idea of buying water, the Government should have made extra effort to ensure that there is enough water for everyone.

Also, electricity supply was highly limited, we had to charge our phones for a fee as high as N50.00 per phone. I strongly believe those villagers would have turn us to money, should they have had the will-power.

But i still keep saying... Rochas no try at all. My state is paying corp members, for christ sake, why can't his state pay me. Yes am serving my father land, but I shouldn't go naked or even die while doing so. The N19,800.00 that was given monthly, I'am sure the least Senators son can't accept it as a pocket money for 1week.

You guys should wake up. Anyway TTYL.... Got to think now!
As 4 you Haters.... There is a transformer down the street. embarassed

If I must come in on this again, it would suffice to put you on notice that events as these (with the inclusion of the NBA event), is at the Governor's discretion and as such, he is at liberty to make his decision to attend whichever suits him. I recalled vividly when I served many years ago, the governor never showed his face during the 21days induction/orientation exercise and final POP, rather he sent his Secretary.
My point is, you should canvass for the inclusion of welfare packeges from the governor, instead of clamouring for his visit to camp.

Politics / Re: NANS Endorses President Goodluck Jonathan For Second Term by iamtheprincipal: 12:35pm On Aug 29, 2014
argon500: The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Thursday endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan to run for a second term in office.
The President of NANS, Mr Yinka Gbadebo, who led the National Executive members of the association on a courtesy visit to the First Lady, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan, expressed their support at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The delegation, which passed a vote of confidence on Jonathan, also presented a certificate of credence to Dame Jonathan for her pursuit of peace and empowerment of women and the youth.
“As pragmatic and visionary Nigerians, we can see through the veil of distraction and boldly applaud the Goodluck administration for infrastructural and social transformation.
“We have unflinchingly determined to put all political detractors and evil geniuses to shame in 2015 by giving Mr President the singular and total support of all Nigerian students.
“As a united association, all students have been mandated to cast their votes for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to emerge victorious and continue the good works of transformation,’’ he said.
Gbadebo noted that in order to actualise this, NANS had floated the Nigerian Students Transformation Vanguard to champion this cause.
The NANS president commended Jonathan for his support to Nigerian students and youths by appointing six past NANS leaders in his administration.
According to him, the past leaders included the Ministers of Information and Education, Mr Labaran Maku and Alhaji Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, respectively.
Others are the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Kingsley Kuku, and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students and Youth matters, Mr Jude Imagwe.
Responding, Dame Jonathan while expressing her love and support for NANS, commended its leadership for consistent constructive engagement on national issues.
“Especially at this time when some Nigerians take advantage of every situation without concern for national security.
“This really shows that our youths are coming of age and that they can be relied upon in the task of nation building.
“Today, our youths in the tertiary institutions are hard-working and are hopeful of a better future for this country, in spite of our challenges,’’ the first lady said.
She urged them to continue in their constructive engagements on national issues and lend voices to positive moves in the interest of the nation.
“Your organisation should continue to champion the cause of peace in our nation as no nation progresses in an atmosphere of insecurity.
“As students, you cannot stay in school if there is no peace. Therefore do not allow anyone to use you as agents of destabilisation.
“You must resist the temptation of being used by politicians as thugs during elections.
“You should learn to be patriotic and not be a willing tool in the hands of those bent of sowing seeds of discord among our people,’’ she charged them.
She said “as mothers, we are praying for you because we love you, you are our future, our hope. You must therefore remember the children of whom you are and face your studies squarely’’. (NAN)

Health / Ebola Hasn't Been Curtailed In Nigeria, As Man Reportedly Dies From EBD In PH by iamtheprincipal: 10:55am On Aug 28, 2014
Contrary to the Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu’s claim on Tuesday that Ebola has been contained in Nigeria, we are now getting reports that the disease has spread to Rivers State, where a doctor has already died from it.
According to Premium Times, A highly placed official of the Rivers state Government has confirmed to that a suspected case of Ebola has been detected in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital. The official, who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to discuss the development with journalists, simply said, “Yes, there was a case of Ebola death. We are tracking everybody.”
According to Sahara Reporters, the unnamed doctor secretly treated a diplomat who had contact with Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American, who brought the virus to Nigeria on the 20th July.
The doctor reportedly died on Friday, his wife had also taken ill and is now in quarantine. Seventy people suspected to have come in contact with the case have been tracked down and placed in isolation.
In a strange twist the unnamed diplomat treated by the doctor is still alive, the report said. The report also says the diplomat is believed to be one of the ECOWAS officials who met Mr. Sawyer on his arrival in Lagos. He then flew to Port Harcourt where he took ill and was treated at an unnamed hotel.
The doctor’s hospital, Good Heart Hospital, as well as the hotel where he treated the diplomat, have both been shut down.
On Tuesday the Minister of Health at a press briefing said, “Ebola has been curtailed,” and that “All 129 people under surveillance have completed the 21-day observation period and only a person is symptomatic and is being observed.”

tenzino: Yes! Back in Lagos, I have always had this news that IMO people takes good care of strangers. Especially those that don't come from their tribe. I have also had of how well their Governor treats the corpers in his state. That was why some weeks ago, when I was posted to IMO state, I never for a second taught of re-deploying. I accepted the posting with good faith.

But my good brothers here on Nairaland, you are the only one i can run to 'cos now am highly pissed off. Guess what, today was our last day in camp, and the so called Governor of IMO State (Governor Rochas Okorocha) who claims to be the father of FREE Education in Nigeria, never cared to come and see us in the camp... not even for a day (officially and non-officially) even when I had that the IMO Camp where we louged (The Umudi Camp) is near his place.

In the opening ceremony, he sent a delegate, today was the closing ceremony, he also sent someone.
2moro he will want me to vote for him Abi

Family / A Dad’s Speech At His Daughter’s Wedding! by iamtheprincipal: 9:15am On Aug 20, 2014
I thought I would start my speech by addressing you as the “new” family of my daughter. But I think it would be inappropriate because now that she is married, you are “the family” for her. Believe me; I don’t have a problem with that. I, in fact, want my daughter to have “you” as her priority now. Its time for us to take a backseat in her life. We would happily accept it but would surely request one thing- please keep her happy!

I am more than sure that you will keep her very happy. She will perhaps be happier than what she used to be here. But like all fathers, I obsess over my daughter’s happiness which is making me say this over and over again- please keep her happy!

She never was and will never be a burden for me. She is in fact the reason why I breathe and smile. I am getting her married because this is what the law of nature demands. I am helpless in the face of our culture and therefore sending her to your home. She was the happiness of my home and will now light up your home. I am giving my world to you. Please make sure it remains beautiful. I am giving away my princess to you. Please make sure she stays as a queen. I have raised her with my sweat and blood and now she is wonderfully perfect. For all the care, love, beauty and warmth my daughter will bring into your lives, I just want her happiness in return—please keep her happy!

If at times you think that my daughter has said or done something wrong, feel free to scold her. But handle her with love. She is very fragile. If at times she feels low, be with her. She just needs a little bit of your attention. If at times she feels sick, show her some care. It’s the medicine that works best for her. If at times she fails to fulfill a responsibility, feel free to chastise her. But empathize with her. She is still learning. Do understand her—please keep her happy!

I don’t mind if I don’t get to see her for months. I don’t mind if I am not able to talk to her on a daily basis. I would be more than happy if she doesn’t remember me much. But, my only motive in life has been my daughter’s happiness which is now in your hands. I beg you, please keep her happy.

Dear son-in-law, these words may not mean much to you now but if you are lucky enough to father a daughter someday, you will appreciate them better when you will find every beat of your heart shouting – “please keep her happy”!

-- Dedicated to all fathers

calebo101:

Please i beg of you tell me the names of the competent candidates we have. And also tell me which government reign in Nigeria was not smeared with corruption. I am willing to learn. Thanks

Before I proceed, I would like to remind you that the people of Nigeria; the aged and the youths across party and religious divides in 2011 overwhelmingly supportted and votted in President GEJ to be returned to Aso Rock with the hope that he was the messiah we have waited for, to lift us out from our long lived troubles of bad leadership that is laced in SELFISHNESS & CORRUPTION which has become the trademark of Nigeria and Nigerians in every part of the world.
Little did we know that President GEJ who hitherto was from the streets like so many of us, unlike the past Nigerian Leaders (both military & civilians), who were drawn from the affluence. He understood that majority of Nigerians live on less than $1/day and go to bed each day, not knowing where their next meal would come from.
Today, he had forgotten all these and so many others and only sees himself as the president of a particular party rather than that of the Nigerian people. Today, irrespective of the amount of damage and havoc some people bring to this country and the corruption cases they are immersed in, once they are ready to join the ruling party, they become 'saints' with their corruption cases laid off them (FFK is a typical example). The Nigerian security agencies particulary EFCC, ICPC, et al have become a mockery and a shadow of themselves. The President had on a certain media chat told the world that 'stealing is not corruption'. The situation has gotten that bad.
In view of the above and many others, agreeing with you that there are no better choices in over 160million people, should be likened to the saying that the Nigerian State is irredeemable which would amount to giving up on the only Country we can truly call our own (in the language of Prof. Dora AKUNYILI of blessed memory)& we are certainly not giving up on Nigeria because I for one have so much confident that Nigeria deserves much better than her previous and present leaders have provided her and shall rise to her glory again soonest...
I would stop here for now!

GOD bless Nigeria!!
