I now understand. One- Ilorin was and is not conquered. 2- Ilorin was settled by Yoruba, Fulani, Gambari, Tapa, Nupe and likes. 3- They are muslims and influenced by islam and their king is called emir ( in their own words, oba musulumi).

One thing I know that is not disputable is the fact that the royalty in Benin is Yoruba or partly and if the throne in Lagos is of Benin then it is still Yoruba. What the last Oba of Benin( because he started the revisionism narrative ) could not deny was that his fathers were from Yoruba whether returning or not. it is all about Oranmiyan family seniority tussle.

All what we can get from his stupid speech is the fact that the Awori were the aborigines of Lagos which is an established fact! No wonder he didn't know what to say when the journalist asked him about the Aworis. Lol.

Take note- Oba Akinolu and the man are almost on the same page. They fear that if the true crowns were to be counted, they would not belong and that is the reason for there miscalculation. However, what they fail to realized is that is that Oba of Benin (last one and present) and the other yoruba obas struggle is just seniority war. If they were to be smart, they are supposed to watch.

History is clear. Edo people have been in existence in their prescence location alongside the other too in their own locations. Moreover, they had Ogiso dynasty which was in tumoul until a Yoruba or Yorubanised prince (whether a prince is just going or returning depending on the story you believe) restored peace and put his young prince and made sure his young prince ascended the throne before he left Ore.

@ odigbosky thougah I have not read your earlier posts, I don't think anyone will deny suzeirainty of Benin kingdom at a point in time over part of Ondo state and Ekiti state.

Even if he claims Benin republic, there is probability ( More than 98% ) that he will trace his origin to Yoruba. I think he or his father is pained by Ooni verdict. However that was then, any one wears crown now. He and his likes want a distinct identity so that they can monopolize power. Bini narrative is just a means to an end and will be jettisoned when they claim the power.

I think it is time for people to do impartial research into the history of Lagos and Lagos State. However with my little experience and findings, Lagos is almost exactly like Benin. Benin is a town of the Edo people but has a royal institution influenced by Yoruba while Lagos is a Yoruba town influenced by Edo royalty. Therefore, Lagos is and can not be separated from Yoruba. What the man Ajayi-obembe wants is political control of Lagos state by his kins However, he lied by saying that Aworis are Benin except if he meant Benin republic. Either way, Aworis are Yorubas. He would be the first person to say Aworis are not Yorubas.
