That's their personal problem. They were elected to make law not to fight. This is just a mere distraction. It will play out in the press for long and no one will remember that their fight is non of our bizness our bizness is how far they have gone in establishing law for d devt of Nigeria. We probably should shut down our national assembly self. When will they call for press conference on the reason PIB.has not been passed. Selfish senators. 2 Likes |

Nice write up. They all work hard towards their success but I have issues with you putting the youngest, the first female blah blah blah, those are as a result of privilege You can't be born in one outskirt of a town and be the youngest. Another thing is we should celebrate those that went back to chase their dream at a mature age because of lack of opportunity when they were young and still make upper class because its not easy, they have pressure from family member who will never motivate them but instead we keep on celebrating those who mostly get things on a platter of Gold. 4 Likes |

mrkayusfit is just seeking attention or he has little knowledge of what's going on. Obaino as we speak is trying but I assume its for the second term, let's not forget what the likes of amaechi, gbenga Daniel and even Ajimobi who did well in their first term and did virtually rubbish in their second term. Even Fashola could not repeat a quarter of what he achieved in the first term. Most governors do well in first term so as to return to office. I hope obaino prove me wrong sha. Those that says Lagos was developed by oil money, I disagree o. I think its because of its former status as federal capital territory and the sea port especially. If you now say the east develop Lagos, I will also say Lagos made easterners who they are today as almost all of them came to Lagos to make money and use that same money to build better house at home. its not as if una carry money from village come use am develop Lagos. jaymejate: Am not sure, there is any university that does not have CBT, it maybe small. Lautech for example may have just 300 computer for example, those choosing lautech too are quite not much. Let's now assume Fuoye has no CBT, and like 5000 chose that skul, futa or eksu can accommodate those students. I just want a situation whereby students won't have issues with their computers which is common with these mushroom CBT jamb centres. |

jaymejate: True but as we speak, how many candidate are currently writing their exam at unilorin. Am sure they are up to 100,000. As for the case of favoritism, that can only be reduce to a minimum, it cannot be eliminated. As for too much candidates. That's more like an illusion. don't forget jamb is expected to last for like 30 days. So 100000/30= 3,333 per day. And if its too much, days should be extended. I know for certain, CBT in Unilag can accommodate 2000 at a stretch when u combine cits, DLI, FAC of science and fss capacity. If Unilag has two sessions per day, it means that Unilag can hold utme exam for 4000 candidates in a day. |

Hmmm Jamb palava. Is it possible for jamb to allow student do their CBT exam in soul of their choice. Students who pick Unibadan should be allowed to write their utme at UI same will apply to those who picked Unilag. So there won't be much talk about poor logistics. Some might say what if the person who wants to apply is staying at Kaduna. My reply will be, during post utme candidates traveled all the way from far distance to write post utme at Ibadan and Lagos. I know some skuls like UI will fault Jamb format as they do not trust jamb to conduct credible examination neither do they trust waec to conduct free and fair examination. Skuls like UI believe it can only trust its exam to bring in the best. OAU will definitely support them don't forget DIBU was drafted from OAU so he must have gotten the backing of his people. Unilag will not support as it gives few admission slot to their in house program which they trust to a large extent. It therefore means that they can admit 15 direct entry for MBBS, 25 for law. Na Unilag suppose stand against it the most. My personal submission: I think the format is fair enough. There is no format that won't have its shortcoming. The best format might actually be that each skul conduct its own exam. scrapping jamb but that's not possible in the interim. |

Education / Re: 2016/2017 UTME And Admission Process Thread by ibadanfinest(m): 1:16pm On Jul 04, 2016 |
Take time and read properly so that you
understand what's happening:
.
.The Modalities for 2016/2017 Admission
processes Into Higher institutions as was
released by JAMB
.
1- The meeting was held at:
B.O Ukeje Auditorium, Nation Commission for
colleges of Education, Central Business District
Abuja.... on Tuesday 28th for Federal institutions,
Wed 29th for state institutions and Thursday 30th
June 2016 for Private institutions....
The meeting was for stakeholders and
educational bodies to work out the modalities of
screening candidates duly recommended for
admission.
.
Due to the National importance of the meeting, it
was chaired by the permanent secretary to the
ministry of Education, this is to ensure that the
honorable minister's directives on the scrapping
of postume and the modalities is STRICTLY
ADHERED TO.
.
2- ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR ALL INSTITUTIONS-
A- CONVENTIONAL INSTITUTIONS
Universities and colleges of Education
To Admit 60% Science and 40% Arts
.
B- SPECIALIZED INSTITUTIONS
Varsities of technology, Agriculture etc
To admit 100% sciences ( but 80% sciences and
20% others..... For state varsity and colleges of
Education)
.
C- Polytechnic and colleges of Technology
To admit 70% Sciences and 30% Arts
.
3- UTME/DIRECT ENTRY ratio
To Admit 90% UTME
". ". 10% DE
Where the 10% for DE is not utilized, UTME
candidates should be used in completing the
quota
.
4- ISSUES TO NOTE BY ALL Institutions....
The list of candidates that has crossed the
minimum cutoff of Jamb but were not admitted
into a particular institution should be forwarded
back to jamb, as this candidates will be
redistributed to other institutions who need them
for consideration.....most preferably their 2nd
choice institution....
(This means that those who scored the general
cutoff say 180 or 200 and above but couldn't
reach the departmental cutoff and were not
admitted will be forward to other institution for
admission consideration, just like eligibility stuff
last year)
.
5- STUDY HERE PROPERLY,
In the Meeting, Jamb did some evaluations on
processes some universities has been following in
the former years as a case study, they used this
two varsities which don't normally write pume as
a case study but uses screening method: these
are:
.
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University and its
affiliates 2015/2016 mode of admission, Jamb
made remarked on the life span of certificates (O-
level) which the school indicated as 5yrs only for
you to be admitted, and Jamb also made remarks
on how much this varsity collects from aspirants
.
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida's who use jamb
grading systems like 180- 185 as 20 points,
186-190 as 21 points and So on...
Jamb faulted and made remarks on
1- why they should screen candidates before
recommendation and presentation to jamb
2- The weighted course requirements and grades
put some students to disadvantage
3- fees charged for screening, HOW MUCH??
.
In the meeting, Jamb made some sampled
printouts of some federal universities that do
conduct written exams.... Using Futo, unilorin,
uniabuja, and Unilag as a case study
.
Using FUTO Mechanical Engineering department
as an example, they have the capacity to admit a
total number of 193 for that department...
they suppose to admit 87 on merit, 68 for
catchments( they have 5 catchments states, so
68 divided by 5 = 13.5, so they suppose to admit
14 for each catchment states), 39 for EDLS (they
have 23 EDLS so 39/23 = 1.6~ 2 for each
EDLS)....
But they summary/outcome jamb gave for futo
was: 92:70:14 for merit: catchment: ELDS
.
Unilorin admission for law which has a capacity
of 89 was also used and the outcome was that
they admitted a total of 70 instead of 89 using
merit, catchments and ElDS....
.
Uniabuja with a capacity of 444 for Economics
department admitted just 370
.
Unilag with a capacity of 280 for law department
had a summary/outcome of 270 instead of 280...
.
For private institution, they used about 5
institutions as case study, where
Covenant varsity, with 111 capacity for
Engineering end up admitting just 45 (I guess due
to lack of candidates), Salem varsity Lokoja
which have a capacity to admit 20 for computer
Engineering ended up admitting just 8 (due to
lack of candidates) and so on for the remaining 3
varsities used as sample....
.
For State institutions: Imsu, Lautech, Kaduna.
State varsity and 2 others were used, the
outcome looked partly like federal uni outcome
for those state varsity like imsu who have
candidates every year and some outcomes looked
like that of private varsity for some state
universities that lacks candidates every year...
.
6- After the whole evaluation, JAMB came up with
this As the MODALITIES TO BE TAKEN THIS YEAR
By All institutions:
PROPOSED JAMB MODEL FOR SCREENING OF
RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES*
_1.Screening of candidates shall be for those
offered *Provisional Admissions* ONLY.
.
_2.No *written examination* to be conducted._
_.
3.Verification of Course Requirements (O levels or
A levels)._
_.
4.Verification of valid JAMB results by checking:_
_i.Online Result Slip_ _ii.Printout_
_iii.Provisional Admission Letter_
_iv.Photo Album_
_v.Check list_
_vi.Biometrics
_
*5.Institutions are free to source from other
Course(s) to compensate for SHORTFALL in any
of the criteria..
This new method uses a point system that is
easy to understand, the whole process is divided
into main points as follows;
1) Before a candidate can seat be considered for
screening, he/she must have been given
provisional admission by Jamb. The Jamb
admission checker portal is going to be opened
soon for this process, so praying is all you can do
now.
2) THE POINT SYSTEM:
This is the most critical part of the process.
Jamb's provisional admission no longer makes
much sense this year, your points tally will decide
your faith. The points are evenly spread out
between your O'level and Jamb results to provide
a level playing field for all.
In the first case, any candidate who submits only
one result which contains his/her relevant
subjects already has 10points, the exam could be
NECO, WAEC, GCE etc, but any candidate who
has 2 sittings only gets 3 points. So this means
that aspirants with only one result are at an
advantage but only just.
The next point grades fall into the O'level grades.
Each grades has it's equivalent point, A=6 marks,
B=4 marks, C=3 marks, so the better your grades
the better your chances.
The next point is the UTME scores. Each score
range has its equivalent point which can be
summarized thus, 180-200=20-23 marks,
200-250=24-33 points, 251-300=34-43,
300-400=44-60 points. Each categories contains 5
Jamb results per point added, for example a
candidate with 180-185 gets 20points, a
candidate with 186-190 gets 21 points etc.
Points system for DE will be released soon.
3) It then comes down to the fact that fees will
still be charged for screening, it depends on the
school as well.
4) Catchment and ELDS will still be used!

Using FUTO Mechanical Engineering department as an example, they have the capacity to admit a total number of 193 for that department... they suppose to admit 87 on merit, 68 for catchments( they have 5 catchments states, so 68 divided by 5 = 13.5, so they suppose to admit 14 for each catchment states), 39 for EDLS (they have 23 EDLS so 39/23 = 1.6~ 2 for each EDLS).... But they summary/outcome jamb gave for futo was: 92:70:14 for merit: catchment: ELDS . Unilorin admission for law which has a capacity of 89 was also used and the outcome was that they admitted a total of 70 instead of 89 using merit, catchments and ElDS.... . Uniabuja with a capacity of 444 for Economics department admitted just 370 . Unilag with a capacity of 280 for law department had a summary/outcome of 270 instead of 280... . For private institution, they used about 5 institutions as case study, where Covenant varsity, with 111 capacity for Engineering end up admitting just 45 (I guess due to lack of candidates), Salem varsity Lokoja which have a capacity to admit 20 for computer Engineering ended up admitting just 8 (due to lack of candidates) and so on for the remaining 3 varsities used as sample.... . For State institutions: Imsu, Lautech, Kaduna. State varsity and 2 others were used, the outcome looked partly like federal uni outcome for those state varsity like imsu who have candidates every year and some outcomes looked like that of private varsity for some state universities that lacks candidates every year... . 6- After the whole evaluation, JAMB came up with this As the MODALITIES TO BE TAKEN THIS YEAR By All institutions: PROPOSED JAMB MODEL FOR SCREENING OF RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES* _1.Screening of candidates shall be for those offered *Provisional Admissions* ONLY. . _2.No *written examination* to be conducted._ _. 3.Verification of Course Requirements (O levels or A levels)._ _. 4.Verification of valid JAMB results by checking:_ _i.Online Result Slip_ _ii.Printout_ _iii.Provisional Admission Letter_ _iv.Photo Album_ _v.Check list_ _vi.Biometrics _ *5.Institutions are free to source from other Course(s) to compensate for SHORTFALL in any of the criteria.. This new method uses a point system that is easy to understand, the whole process is divided into main points as follows; 1) Before a candidate can seat be considered for screening, he/she must have been given provisional admission by Jamb. The Jamb admission checker portal is going to be opened soon for this process, so praying is all you can do now. 2) THE POINT SYSTEM: This is the most critical part of the process. Jamb's provisional admission no longer makes much sense this year, your points tally will decide your faith. The points are evenly spread out between your O'level and Jamb results to provide a level playing field for all. In the first case, any candidate who submits only one result which contains his/her relevant subjects already has 10points, the exam could be NECO, WAEC, GCE etc, but any candidate who has 2 sittings only gets 3 points. So this means that aspirants with only one result are at an advantage but only just. The next point grades fall into the O'level grades. Each grades has it's equivalent point, A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks, so the better your grades the better your chances. The next point is the UTME scores. Each score range has its equivalent point which can be summarized thus, 180-200=20-23 marks, 200-250=24-33 points, 251-300=34-43, 300-400=44-60 points. Each categories contains 5 Jamb results per point added, for example a candidate with 180-185 gets 20points, a candidate with 186-190 gets 21 points etc. Points system for DE will be released soon. 3) It then comes down to the fact that fees will still be charged for screening, it depends on the school as well. 4) Catchment and ELDS will still be used! OK, It seems the north despite contributing a paltry sum to the common purse are milking the south south dry. Pls o, let us collect our money from these thieves o. Leave Amaechi for now. By the time we vote out APC in 2019, we go beam searchlight on Amaechi and know if he is truly corrupt or not. As for Jagaban himself. I don't think anyone can catch that man jare. He was in opposition for 8 years without immunity, them no see am catch. Na now wey his party come dey power, dey wan catch am. 3 Likes |

alfredebayo: OK sir, because futa started all those courses last year has made them to become a conventional skul. I dab for your level of reasoning. Futa was established to promote science and technology. They cannot offer the best of educational services in humanity courses. If not for admission deficit, students won't go there to study humanity courses. Don't forget they had to wait for better university to absorb better students before admitting the crumbs that was left behind by great skuls. Futa is cool though for science courses. |
