I have wanted to exchange coins worth $1k and been quoted gas price of $300 before. Right now, this is a fundamental problem for E.T.H and why the price ain't moving. Only whales do swaps on E.T.H Network now, C.A.K.E is now doing volumes of $1bln per day as of yesterday which was U.N.I.S.W.A.P volume two weeks ago. I won't be surprised if it has overtaken U.N.I for volume as of today.

Add in developers seeking access to retail market which Bïïnance offers and you can see why people are bullish on B.N.B and nearly bearish of E.T.H. E.T.H deefy has had its cycle in August, December and Jan, now na Bïïnance turn.
