A Paris Uber driver has returned personal effects belonging to Nollywood actor, Kunle Afolayan. The Nollywood actor raised the alarm earlier on Monday that he lost his international passport and other personal effects in Paris, the capital of France after an Uber ride. Back to people who are beautiful inside... one day we came back from Abuja on a flight with this man that inundated us with my wife this my wife that... my wife... my wife... my wife... This was all in a space of a 3 hour cancelled flight. So we were sooooo looking forward to meeting the wife. Oh boy! She no fine. But guess what? She had the most beautiful soul. She brought him Smoothie to drink on arrival and carried his bag. One of our guys whose wife will give Juliet Ibrahim a run for her beauty, left him a text. "I have been waiting for over 30 minutes. There are grave allegations that the Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, whose office is supposed to be respectable, is playing a sinister role in the PDP Leadership suit at the Supreme court. AGF Malami is said to have interfered and influenced the selection of the new panel of Justices at the Supreme court, and he impressed on the CJN to dissolve the former panel hearing the suit because he believed that the former panel would not do Sheriffs bidding. AGF Malami is also said to be advising Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to file an interlocutory appeal on the grounds that Senator Ahmed Markafi has no right to appeal on behalf of PDP. AGF Malami is alleged to have assured Sheriff of victory in the Supreme Court even when he is not a member of the Supreme Court, he isn't the lawyer to Sheriff and he is not a member of PDP. When a code-enforcement officer in Frankfort, Illinois decided to donate half his liver to someone that had never met before, in order to save their life, he had no idea that person would one day become his life partner. In March 2014, completely out of the blue, 27-years-old Heather Kruger was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer, and learned that she only had a few months left to live. Doctors told her that her only chance for survival was a liver transplant, but with so little time left, waiting for a liver from the state’s transplant list was not the best option, so they suggested finding a living donor. “They immediately told me I was going to need a transplant,” she recalls. “There was not much time to find a donor. By that time I could really feel my body shutting down.” Her salvation came from a total stranger. There is an outbreak of cerebrospinal meningitis across some states in the country. Even though the federal ministry of health has advised Nigerians to remain calm as it is working to put an end to the spread of the epidemic, it is important that every Nigerian is made aware of the health risk posed by the disease. Meningitis is a serious illness that can be life threatening. Boade Akinola the director media and public relations at the federal ministry of health said that although, “this is not the first time or the worst epidemic ever faced by Nigeria, this round of the epidemic has come with a difference, as all previous epidemics were caused by Neisseria Meningitides type ‘A’, but this year we are recording Neisseria Meningitides type C in epidemic proportion for the first time.” More than 2,524 people have so far been affected by the Cerebrospinal meningitis (CSM) outbreak, with 328 deaths recorded in ninety Local Government Councils of 16 states of the federation. The states involved include, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Nassarawa, Jigawa, FCT, Gombe, Taraba, Yobe, Kano, Osun, Cross River, Lagos and Plateau. What is meningitis? Meningococcal meningitis is a serious bacterial infection. It affects the protective lining of the brain and the spinal cord or “meninges.” It is usually spread via saliva or mucus. Kissing, living in close or communal spaces, or sharing cups and eating utensils are all ways to get the infection. The most common causes of meningitis are viral and bacterial infections. Other causes may include cancer, chemical irritation, fungi, and drug allergies. The most common kinds are viral and bacterial meningitis both contagious and can be transmitted by coughing, sneezing, or close contact. Viral meningitis According to Healthline, a health journal, viral meningitis is the most common type of meningitis. Viruses in the Enterovirus category cause 85 percent of cases. Viruses in the Enterovirus category cause about 10 to 15 million infections per year, but only a small percentage of people who get infected will develop meningitis. Viral meningitis typically goes away without treatment. Fungal Meningitis Fungal meningitis is rare and usually caused by fungus spreading through blood to the spinal cord. Although anyone can get fungal meningitis, people with weakened immune systems, like those with an HIV infection or cancer, are at increased risk. The most common cause of fungal meningitis for people with weak immune systems is Cryptococcus. This disease is one of the most common causes of adult meningitis in Africa. How it Spreads Fungal meningitis is not spread from person to person. Fungal meningitis can develop after a fungus spreads through the bloodstream from somewhere else in the body to the brain or spinal cord or from an infection next to the brain or spinal cord. Bacterial Meningitis Bacterial meningitis is contagious and caused by infection from certain bacteria. The medical journals warns that it is fatal if left untreated between 5 to 40 percent of children and 20 to 50 percent of adults with this condition die. Prolonged close contact with an infected person may increase risk of transmission. This is a concern in day care centres, schools, and college dormitories. The bacteria can also spread through saliva, mucus, kissing, sharing eating utensils, coughing, sneezing, and contaminated food Medical experts say a lot of people have meningitis-causing bacteria in their throats or noses, even if they do not get sick, they can still spread it to others. According to the World Health Organization, the incubation period is between two and 10 days. The largest concentration of meningococcal disease is in sub-Saharan Africa. The US Center for diseases control (CDC), estimates that about 4,100 cases of bacterial meningitis are reported each year in the United States. Common symptoms of meningitis include sudden high fever and chills, headache, stiff neck, purple areas on the skin that look like bruises. The symptoms usually come on suddenly, within one week of being exposed to the bacteria. Other less common symptoms of meningitis are confusion, particularly in older adults, nausea and vomiting, sensitivity to light, rash, usually a symptom appearing during later stages, drowsiness and fatigue, seizure, coma. Children tend to display different symptoms of meningitis than adults and they include irritability, partial seizures, red or purple rashlike areas on the skin, projectile vomiting, difficulty with feeding, high-pitched crying. Reducing meningitis risk Common precautions medical practitioners advise are regular washing of hands with warm water and soap before eating, after using the toilet, after changing a diaper, or after tending to someone who is ill. They further counsel against sharing eating utensils, straws, or plates and maintain hygiene as regards covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. Parents are also urged to stay up to date with immunizations and booster shots for meningitis and seek immediate medical help when a child exhibits symptoms. There are so many great things about life as a short girl, and here are just a few of them. 1. You’ll always have leg room on planes, trains and buses. 2. Crowd weaving is your art form. You are a pro at basic sewing skills. Hemming skirts and shortening the straps on dresses makes you awesome at minor clothing repairs, which comes in handy in life. 23. Changes in your shape show up right away on your small frame. Your height makes beautiful curves look way more sexy and dramatic or a five-pound weight loss look like a major body overhaul. 24. People inherently trust you. Being small often equates to looking young, wholesome or polite, which has its advantages. 25. Petite life means you get lots of practice with people dumping obnoxious, knee-jerk commentary on you without thinking. A lungfish believed to have been the longest-living aquarium fish has been put down due to failing health. The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago said the fish, in his 90s, was euthanised after losing interest in food and showing signs of organ failure. Granddad, who weighed 11kg (24lbs), had been seen by more than 100 million people since arriving in Chicago from his native Australia in 1933. He died at 93 or possibly beyond the century mark. A Shedd spokeswoman admitted Granddad's exact age was unknown, but that he was believed to be in his mid-90s. Lungfish, which can live to be more than 100 years old and are a protected species in Australia, have existed for nearly 400 million years and fossils show they have remained unchanged for more than 100 million years. They are native to two rivers in Queensland, have a single primitive lung and are among the few fish that can breathe air. Shedd Aquarium president Bridget Coughlin announced his death: "For a fish who spent much of his time imitating a fallen log, he sparked curiosity, excitement and wonder among guests of all ages who would hear his story and learn about the incredible biology that makes his species a living fossil and one of the oldest living vertebrate genera on the planet."
