Abuja is just a federal gov town - with gov offices! It can never beat Mombasa - port city - tourist/resort city - industrial city - regional & gov office city.

Abuja is just an administrative capital, which is why it is shameful that it's even giving Mombasa a run for it's money. And Mombasa has an advantage of being a waterfront, you can build huts on waterfront and they will still look beautiful.

And none has ever had theirs rejected. Nigeria GDP is totally cooked. We have dealt with this. They claim to have 81B dollars worth of agricluture. That is just impossible. That would put their agri GDP higher than Brazil. South Africa Agri GDP is 7B dollars. Just imagine that.

Before the re-basing - Nigeria GDP was 150B - I think if this honest mistake - then they probably choose the "wrong" year to rebase - 2014 - Nigeria economy was booming with oil at 100 dollars a barrel - but this is more about DODGY DATA - For example the agricluture data - how do they collate the data about what they produced when Fed Min of Agricluture was quoting Indimulli?

Nigeria GDP is less than Algeria - less than 200B dollars - with about 1/3 of that from Oil.
How did you know non have been rejected, you think they will announce it if it were rejected?

Oil does not and have not influenced Nigerian GDP, contribution of oil to Nigerian GDP was and still is negligible. Banking, services, agriculture, Telecommunication, nollywood are the main contributors to Nigerian GDP in 2014, and they are still the major contributors today.

About Nigerian agricultural sector being bigger than that of brazil, it's not rocket science, Brazil with 2trillion economy has an agric sector 5.5pct, Nigeria with 400b economy has an agric sector 20.1pct, calculate 5.5pct of 2trillion for brazil and 20.1pct of 400b for Nigeria and you have your answer

As long as we don't use Nigeria Stats Office generated GDP - I am pretty sure Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret will stand as cities worth their name.
Stat office of every country runs their figures on GDP through World Bank and IMF before it is release.

At the same height as the tallest building in Europe (the Shard) it's a sign of the economic might that Kenya has in this part of the world
Careful careful, I once read this report about the correlation between building of skyscrapers and economic collapse, there was a surge in building of skyscrapers before the 2008 economic recession, same before the Asian economic crisis, now Kenya is busy building skyscrapers....... Just saying cheesy cheesy cheesy

Look like Port Harcourt it will struggle against Kisumu. The same way Abuja has nothing on Mombasa. Lagos can only dream about Nairobi.

Kenya is one of the leading countries in Africa in online shopping and also on mall flour space second only to South Africa. It's nice having a healthy mixture of both.
Mauritius is ranked first for online shopping, Nigeria is second, South Africa third.

Kenyatta avenue - Nairobi
Really. Why only Nairobi, show us other parts of Kenya grin grin. Nairobi is beautiful without a doubt, but that's because it's one of the two big cities in Kenya, the other being Mombasa, apart from this two which other city in Kenya can be categorize as "big"? Nigeria can boast of 10 "Big cities" give or take. imagine if Nigeria spend it's wealth developing only Lagos and Abuja. Just imagine that.

There are three other projects in Abuja. The Buhari Tower 30 floors (336ft), Aso Towers (29 floors), and ICC Towers (200m) are coming up soon. grin

This is beside the World trade center of 37 floors and the culture center tower (160m) projects that were on hold at some point but have now seen the light of the day. Probably, by next year construction will commence.

Picture of ICC Towers under construction. grin
The WTC has been going on like forever, I hope they don't abandon it.

How fickle and ungrateful we are, Buratai that has done more for the Army than the last four Chiefs put together, I agree it is time for him to go not because he is unqualified as you said but because we need fresh blood, and new ideas.

Besides if he is unqualified, what will you attribute his earlier success to? Luck?

Africans (especially Nigerians) are more exposed to fake news than Americans. (imagine that)

At the height of farmers/herders clashes, facebook had to disable Several accounts based in UK for spreading fake news in Nigeria.

Fake news has led to death of several individuals in Nigeria.

I know for a fact that some of these guys are dismissed personnel who bear grudges against the military. (I know one personally)

The military has it's fault but some of the claims on social a media are outrageous.

Not everything seen on the social media is the gospel truth.

Rwanda has a better health care than Nigeria hands down, no argument, but it's normal, countries with small population tend to have better health care than the more populous ones. Compare the Scandinavians, Luxembourg, Qatar, Brunei, UK e.t.c to US, india, and China.

Many of them joined the army because they wanted to earn money not because they wanted to fight. Rising Unemployment rate is contributing to this problem.
I might be wrong, though some Nigerians joined the army out of unemployment but most because it's a sign of prestige (to an extent) and wearing khaki makes them look cool. Though I agree with you most of them don't want to fight. All of them wanted to be posted to Lagos, Abuja or PH.

what pres Putin said is a bitter pill that must be swallowed. apart from south Africa, Egypt tunisa,Morocco ,Algeria and Rwanda of resent. which other state in Africa have good hospitals?

being blind and being patriotic are two ends of a long line.
Rwanda is a success story. Good hospitals is not the same as good health care. There are countries mentioned here whose healthcare is not THAT better than Nigeria's.

A country mentioned here 75% of its doctors are employed in the PRIVATE SECTOR .

2000 Nigerian trained doctors leave Nigeria YEARLY because of lack of employment but on the flip side Nigeria produces 2000 doctors yearly while a country mentioned here has about 50% VACANCY rate for doctors and 40% for nurses.

Though there is room for expansion at local level (primary health care) state and federal run hospitals are not THAT bad.

Nigerians going abroad for treatment has more to do with MENTALITY than lack of proper health care.

Monday a report that Beijing had bugged the regional bloc’s headquarters, which it built and paid for in the Ethiopian capital.

French newspaper Le Monde quoted anonymous African Union (AU) sources saying that data from computers in the Chinese-built building had been transferred nightly to Chinese servers for five years.

After the hack was discovered a year ago, the building’s IT system including servers was changed, according to Le Monde. During a sweep for bugs after the discovery, microphones were also found hidden in desks and the walls, the newspaper reported.

The $200m headquarters was fully funded and built by China and opened to great fanfare in 2012. It was seen as a symbol of Beijing’s thrust for influence in Africa, and access to the continent’s natural resources.

As in the Ethiopian capital, China’s investments in road and rail infrastructure are highly visible across the continent. At a 2015 summit in South Africa, Chinese president Xi Jinping pledged $60bn in aid and investment to the continent, saying it would continue to build roads, railways and ports.Chinese and African officials who were in Addis Ababa for the bloc’s annual summit denied Le Monde’s report.

China’s ambassador to the AU, Kuang Weilin, called the article “ridiculous and preposterous” and said its publication was intended to put pressure on relations between Beijing and the continent. “China-Africa relations have brought about benefits and a lot of opportunities. Africans are happy with it. Others are not.“

Asked who he referred to, he said: “People in the west. They are not used to it and they are simply not comfortable with this.“

Paul Kagame, Rwanda’s president who assumed the AU chairmanship this year, said he did not know anything about it. “But, in any case, I don’t think there is anything done here that we would not like people to know,” he said after a meeting of African heads of state.

“I don’t think spying is the speciality of the Chinese. We have spies all over the place in this world,” Kagame said. “But I will not have been worried about being spied on in this building.”

His only concern, he said, was that the AU, instead of China, should have built the headquarters. “I would only have wished that in Africa we had got our act together earlier on. We should have been able to build our own building.”
And China will build our backup satellites "free of charge"

And for Kagame to say "spying is not their specialty" is the joke of year (and we are still in January). Spying and China walks hand in hand.

Not quite. Pratt and Whitney engine is Canadian. Are there US made components? Yes. Is this a barrier? Not necessarily. Only if you want to use US weapons, do the Yanks insist you buy Tucanos from the Florida factory. Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Angola, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Indonesia all bought directly from Brazil.
Pratt and Whitney Canada is a division of Pratt and Whitney America which is also a subsidiary of United Technology. Even though Pratt and Whitney Canada conducts it's own research, Markets it's own products, they still answer to Pratt and Whitney America.
