S.A. like Britney spears while Nigeria Ariana Grande. aria WHAT. Ogbeni.... ma no mad for you this evening noo. please call someone else Jare. Like tiwa savage |

rvp20183: The revenues base of 200m versus 50m people btw Kenya and Nigeria.South Africa are like 60m.You need to factor that. Most of music revenue in Kenya and Nigeria are from Telcom companies...you have large domestic market. Why is this hard for you to understand. The answer is simple: Piracy. According to ifpi.org piracy does not have a foothold in SA, it's very rampant in Nigeria, I don't know about Kenya though. |

rvp20183: Per capita..you need to be 4 times ahead of us...South Africa just some few factors but look you're at best 2.5 times and this the sector you're arguably doing really good. This is true for many sectors..when you're doing great you're just 2.x times but in some sectors we beat the giant senseless. I am sorry I don't get you. |

NairobiWalker: Davido is useless, perhaps Wizzkid is worth some time but Davido is useless. Wizkids knows how to appeal to fans, davido is more natural. Davido"s fall is currently the most viewed Nigerian music video on YouTube, displacing yemi Alade's Johnny and more than Wizkids One dance ft Drake, imagine that. And he has more awards than Wizkid. |

Finally I found it! Revenue from South African music is the highest in Africa. 63million dollars, Nigeria 47million dollars, Kenya as always........ 19million dollars Consolation for Nigerians: Nigeria has the fastest growing E and M sector in the world. We would soon catch up with SA. As they said "it's not about being at the top, it's about maintaining your position at the top"

IronGalaxy: Nice try. That's like saying "7 world cups is not countless we've won the community shield"
South African artists have won other international awards but let's be honest, A Grammy is pinnacle of music achievement. Sentiments aside. Nope not the same at all, you've won 7 World Cup, and a handful of other cups. I've won 1 world cup and countless other cups, at the end of the day, my trophy cabinet is bigger than yours. Yes Grammy award is the pinnacle of music achievement. At the end of the day, Nigerian artists have won more international awards that South Africans. And I will like you to also know that all these awards (apart from the Grammy) is based the current crop of musicians, wizkid, davido, tuface, tiwa e.t.c. I ve not checked that of legends like raz kimono, fela Kuti...... Also all these artists are based in Nigeria, not those based outside. Speaking of football, I am off to training, you kids behave ur self while I am gone |

rvp20183: Let me speak for myself - I find it off-putting if somebody was to speak as bad English as Nigerians do. I know majority of urbane kenyans feel the same. Therefore dating a Nigerian girl might be nice for the "uniqueness" part - but she'd have to quickly re-learn proper English. Nobody want to live with someone who will be mispronouncing nearly every word.
When will Nigerians learn that Written and Spoken English are not the same. This is not Igbo or Yoruba or Swahili. English vowels are pronounced differently from how they are written. OZZBAND - for husband - instead of HAZBEND.
Stats wise - Nigerian English is the Africa WORST. Way too much pidgin influence. South Africans have the Afrikaan interference but they are still better. I find Zim, Ugandans, Zambia and Ghanian English very good. Tanzanians should just stick to Swahili.
Listen to Buhari or Obasanjo - they simply don't speak English something close to English. Show us the stats. Compare buhari's English to Kenyatta, there is no competition there. Only igbo pronounce husband and hasband and they do not make up to 20% of Nigerian population. A person from North speaks different English from a person in South east, South west, South South and middle belt. |

You are a bloody illiterate all of these rich nigerians destroy the country they stole nigeria dry. Even to make matters worse most of the stolen money is borrowed. You are praising criminals why you are paid the debt for the criminals today. Yes you have a few rich thieves but kenya rich people are hardworking also kenya's wealth goes into infrastructure building. While on the other hand nigeria's wealth goes into building other countries. So you can see how stupid and illiterate you are. 71% of nigerians building factories are building it in other countries. So what good is ur rich nigerians. Nigeria's biggest problem is illiteracy Source on that 71pct figure please |

rvp20183: Nigeria is a desperate country. That is when they have a Dangote they imagine Nigeria are Africa richest. When they have Agbani they imagine they are very beautiful. When they have Davido they imagine they produce the best music and very good looking.
This is country literally scrapping the bottom of the barrel and with very low self-esteem. That is why 90% (just imagine that) of their men and women are bleaching their skins. I mean if you find one light skin Nigerian - they will parade him or her like all over - but when they go to say South Africa and everyone is "light" skin - they get confused.
The average nigerian look like this. https://www.akpraise.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/19-nigerians-arrested-for-fraud-in-kenya-lailasnews-3910532996.png You were just praised for being a stats guy and you went ahead and said 90% of Nigerians bleach. Clap for yourself. |

And we are talking of SA based musicians, not those base in foreign countries. Nigeria have that too And no sa music does not appeal to a bigger audience, Nigerian music does. The reason why your music industry is bigger is because of rampant piracy in Nigeria. Same goes for nollywood |

Lionessza6: LMFAO , I smell some hurt on that post. Challenge me to showcase our artists that are making waves overseas or that have made history on the international scene . South Africa didn't start producing quality with the likes of Nasty c , he is still a learner to how far we have come in selling African music. Stop making little boy excuses about language , I love Congolese music even though I don't understand French or their indigenous languages . South African artists sing in all our languages including English and they appeal to bigger crowds outside of Africa, infact most of our well known artists made their names outside of Africa before being known around the continent . The reason tiwa savage, dbanj and them moved back to Nigeria to make it , is because there was no demand for their music outside of Africa. Our grandmother Miriman makeba the pioneer of African music died in Europe performing . Our DJ black coffee is the only African to be named best dj and winning international awards and he is resident dj in Israel, Portugal and Spain . That is just a glimpse of what we have . There is a reason why our music industry is worth more than yours even with your population, we appeal to a bigger audience than Africa. It has been like this for decades . Ask the likes of Naptu on this forum.
Why are we posting here? Because we can . As for SA being boring .... well that's your opinion, but millions of outsiders who flock here for festivals, tourism and just pure fun disagree with you . Of all the Nigerian musicians you could have accused of not making it abroad you chose dbanj and lady t. Smh |

Lionessza6: South Africa always votes with other African countries in anything that matters , so what's your point again?. If Kenya or Nigeria wanted to host, definitely South Africa would vote for them but Morocco?....hell no!. You are clearly clueless about Morocco and South African politics, that is why you are taking that fckn accusatory tone with me . For your information Morocco was the only country that voted with Europeans over South Africa in our bid to host prior 2010, so why the hell would we support them ?. SADC is not foolish enough to vote for a country that considers itself African when it suits them . Morocco and South Africa both bid for 2010 World Cup. No? |

When a project is 200 to 300 percent over budget it becomes a problem to make matters worse only 20 to 30% complete 300% over budget. Nobody is going to put their money in there Source? Without other African countries supporting SA (not only Nigeria BTW) South Africa will not have won the right to host the World Cup.....which is why it f#cking piss me off when SA voted against a fellow African country for 2026 hosting right. |

There is a difference between rain and storm noooo? Even the part of US that do not have underground cabling are disconnected when there is a storm, in fact it is practiced worldwide for safety reasons. |

Just30: The delusions they live in is what their nation is suffering from
i can't imagine any government officials in Ghana coming out to say , it is not the duty of government to provide electricity to the citizenry
the government will be removed from power in a week Fashola was misquoted by the amateurish Nigerian media, what he said is Nigerians should complain to distribution companies and Gencos, because they are now the supplier or electricity not the Federal government. Electricity in Nigeria has been privatized. |

Jos enjoys 24/7 too coz they are not connected to the national grid, there is a mega Coca Cola plant in jos that offers them electricity 24/7. Coca Cola plant in maiduguri also offers 24/7 electricity to SOME parts of maiduguri. I don't know about PH, Lagos, Kano e.t.c |

There are cities in jos, kaduna that enjoys steady electricity too.
