I had a very nasty experience with smartweb hosting company in Nigeria. On a normal ground, all the domains and web hosting i have been doing over the years have always been with yahoo web hosting, ipage, go daddy. I never use Nigeria hosting company because of eventuality. I wanted to make payment via my master card which is my company MasterCard ATM but i was declined severally and i called my bank only to inform me that due to CBN new policies, corporate ATM card like mine cant be used unless i use personal account. This is what made me to rush to smartweb Nigeria. I first used it to host for a client of mine and what happened was calamity. I thought because my client bought her domain name from different site that was the reason her site was not up. I got a little bit defensive and i even open a ticket with the same smartweb company that hosted it only not to be resolved up till now.
Then i have an urgent site of over 100 pages to host, it was pressing on me and i thought because the other lady used different domain i then bought both domain and hosting with them for up to 2 weeks now. Up till now nothing is on with my site. I got angry and got in touch with them. The first guy that first answer me told me that my domain is not pointing well that he will point it to me which he said he did. I asked him is it my fault or yours which he agreed is theirs. He told me to upload my content which i did twice nothing again. On this note then i believes comments by people i saw on nairaland about this people scam and duped attitude.
I have made my own mistake , BUT PLEASE ANYTIME YOU WANT TO HOST YOUR SITE RUN AWAY FROM SMARTWEB NIGERIA BASED IN JOS. We were encouraged to patronize Nigeria companies but when you do you get what you dont bargain for. Check comments made by some people about this company, you will run for your life. Try and patronize foreign host.

Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver. ) i have done all the necessary things you peopel instruct me to do

After using your domain to track your tickets i understand why btgiglobal.org.ng is suspended this is due to compromise in your CMS that send Paypal Phishing Emails to defraud Paypal Clients.
We got report from paypal security agents 3 times and our staffs communicated with you on how to resolve it but the issue persist.

And for xploitcomedy.net i saw that is only domain you purchase with out hosting or any DNS to point it to so thats why is not working and the same with wiwainternationalmodelschool.com.ng

My name is Murtala working for smartweb, i just saw this post and reply on behalf of the company.
First i will like to say yes we do ask client to provide documents for only suspicious domains eg courier services, shipping companies, bank website or micro finance etc.
Others companies even in USA does that as well and i know there are lots of web hosting companies out there don’t ask such but at the end of the day you might find your website being suspended or terminated without refund so we choose not to do that but try to verify from our customers and make sure they are using it for legal activities.
As for the op he provided the document and we are satisfy with them and his website is now active and i can see he uploaded his files http://kingscashipping.com/ and he start enjoying our good service.
So i will like to say thank you for sharing ideas about this issues and hope it will benefit others as well.

Yes we know we have a lots of issues during January and February and we have already fix the issue since then but people keep blackmailing smartweb doing this doing that, just because we can not post on this forum saying something like we loose our posting privilege by bolt or something i can recall, am not sure if this reply will last long here.

Some people that post this yes we know the did it out of anger and prostration during the downtime and we respect their views, while some are using the opportunity to blackmail smartweb to divert our customers to their host, you need to know that we are still strong and increasing customer base every blessing day.

Secondly Our Office phone are not going since from 08 January 2011 Due to the crisis in Jos, you need to know smartweb office is located in jos, and is not secured for our staff to go to the office. i believe you should heard the news about the recent crisis in jos.
Therefor none of our staff can go to office and all the office phone are off.

During crisis normally some of our staff work from home but will give you support through email only.
