Brilliant breakdown. Thanks !

8BitGee:

Hi, welcome.

• See https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming-to-join-family-in-ireland/joining-an-irish-national/join-family-visa/ it tells you most of what you need to know.

• You can prove communication by way of phone logs, text and instant messages. I'll advise you take copious screenshots of these over a good time period. If children are involved, showing evidence of communication with them too I have heard is essential.

• Provide evidence of visitations by way of airline tickets, hotel bookings, family photos, etc.

• You can prove dependency by highlighting regular money transfers for upkeep, etc on your bank statements.

• Ensure you show enough funds in your accounts as being on a CSEP appears not to be enough especially for families with kids. Refer to the post by purplish, above.

• Get a letter of introduction from your landlord, employer and anyone else that can attest for you.

• Your letter of invitation is very important too. Highlight particularly the need for family reunification, don't assume it's evident. Your spouse should do the same. List all documents attached, submitted and their purpose.

• The process is long-drawn-out at the moment, I'll say expect up to a 8-9 month wait to hear back after submission cry

• While this thread is information rich, in my view, it's a general thread as such it's difficult to find specific information sometimes. I have created a separate thread for join family applications here https://www.nairaland.com/6901221/irish-join-family-visa-enquiries

Good luck

Hi @benmac4sure and @Sholy29ice, ICaS has stated the correct rule. It is firmly in place and has not been overturned...your spouse will not be able to work with a dependent visa. However, I think this is the least of your problems. In case you are not aware, the current policy for Non-EU family reunification in Ireland requires you to show that you will access AT LEAST €511 every week (for a family with 1 child) throughout your stay in Ireland with your family. This amount increases with your number of children. For instance, if you're on a 4-year PhD programme with one child, this means you must show proof of access to at least €106,288 if you want your spouse and 1 child with you for the entire 4 years. Without showing the requisite funds, your family will not be granted visas. It is a rigid rule that now applies to any Non-EU family member going to Ireland to join their Non-EU spouse/parent regardless of whether you are a PhD Student or working professional.

As a PhD student who is currently going through HELL trying to get my baby and husband to get their Irish dependent visas, my candid advise is go anywhere else but Ireland for your PhD, if having your family with you is a priority. Irish student immigration policies are not friendly for mature students with families. If you decide to proceed, please read the Non-EU Reunification Policy, digest it (especially paragraph 17.6) and prepare accordingly for the financial implications.

This is quite sad. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I think if you have the funds available, your spouse could possibly enroll on a Masters program in the UK possibly in Belfast and he can apply with your baby. Or better yet initiate a visiting visa to IRELAND first and try to figure out if its possible to get an employer to sponsor his work permit.

I hope and pray Line falls in place for you and your family.

If I am correct, the spouse or partner of a PhD student is not allowed to work right?

As copied from Google via petition link- they requested for a reform on this , if it has been overturned - I'm not sure
"The government of Ireland allows the spouses of non-EU PhD students to accompany them for the duration of their program, between three to five years," says Sidra. "These spouses are usually granted a Stamp 3 visa, which does not allow them to engage in any kind of employment, self-employment, business or trade."Sept 17, 2020

Please gurus help. What are the requirements and documents to bring (or go with) My Wife and daughter to Ireland?

I hope to start my PhD in UCD by September 2022. Please I need detailed guidance.

Any other PhD student going to Dublin? Please indicate and let's connect.

For PhD Applicants, the visa office advises that you sort out your visa first, travel to Ireland, register / enroll on your program, rent a comfortable apartment or accommodation- reasonably big enough to accommodate you and your family , sort out other financial requirements then initiate application for your family to join you.

Hello, Ire pls how did you pay the acceptance fees for University of Limerick? And how did you go about paying 50% of the fees. Pls kindly check your Mail I sent you a mail.

Pls Incase anyone know how to go about this kindly explain on the platform so others can learn also and Incase there is any WhatsApp group for University of Limerick, pls kindly let me know.

Open a domiciliary account in USD - source for dollars and use your dollar card to pay the acceptance fee. if however, you have access to both your initial tuition fee and acceptance fee, then initiate Form A through CBN - trade monitoring system website. Upload your passport page , offer letter and Invoice . Once you receive the AF number in your email head to the bank you selected to initiate tuition fee payment.

Please, anyone

It depends- if finance was one of the reasons more importantly explanation of lumpsum, then you should work with the previous 6 months presented earlier.

If concerns were raised as regards your closing balance or POF being insufficient, then YES you need an updated / recent 6 months bank statement

One of my students in Ireland shared this with me earlier today. who knows a lot of people looking for work sponsorship visa may find it helpful.

I am still reading up and carrying out research, I suggest you do the same:

https://coru.ie/health-and-social-care-professionals/international-qualifications/apply-for-recognition/

Currently qualifications are being recognized for the following professions (select your profession below to apply for recognition):

Dietitians
Dispensing Opticians (General Division)
Dispensing Opticians (Contact Lenses Division)
Medical Scientists
Occupational Therapists
Optometrists
Physiotherapists
Podiatrists
Radiographers and Radiation Therapists
Social Workers
Speech and Language Therapists

Once you have the accreditation from the above body for these professions, you can get an employer / hospital to sponsor your work permit.

Hi nairalanders, pls i need advice on which country i could go to study with my 12m, i have my Bsc degree i recently obtained from a University in Benin Republic. I'll be 30 this year and i want to leave this country unfailingly this year.

Depending on your previous course and intended course:

1. 1 year Masters degree in Republic of Ireland - Average Tuition starts from 9000 euros (4.5m)- if single funds required for visa application is 7,000 euros (3.5m)- visa fee and health insurance is approximately 550 euros - 250,000 naira. Overall projected cost is 8.5m. After 1 year Masters program, students automatically get 2 - 5 years work permit. Visa guarantee is 90%

2. 1 year masters or Postgraduate certificate program in Canada - Costs an average of 5.5m (17,000CAD). Some schools may be cheaper while others may be more expensive though. Expected proof of funds for visa application is 10000 CAD to 12000CAD - 4.5m; visa guarantee is 40%. Overall projected cost is 10.5m inclusive of visa fee, IOM / Medical tests, ielts etc

3. The UK has 95% visa guarantee and 2 years post study work permit after completing a 1 year masters program. However, proof of funds for visa application excluding tuition often ranges from 8m to 12m depending on the university of choice.

Additional fees for UK are, visa fee at 486 usd to 503 usd
Medical health surcharge from 986 usd to 1600 usd depending on the duration of program

I want to clarify if Duolingo is still accepted during the visa processing period or its only IELTS for 2022.
Secondly, What else should i start to prepare for from now till June application time in order not to rush during that period.
Thanks

It is official , DUOLINGO has been approved by DFA for visa applications henceforth . Exceptions to Nursing Students if their school would accept Duolingo as they often accept Academic IELTS

UPDATES ON VISA OFFICE ADJUSTMENTS !!!

Good morning

A new Manager will be starting at the Irish Embassy in August!!

Someone new may not be as strict and could potentially be better but same rules apply and we need to keep the standard up.

However its never a great time when they do rotate in August – it’s a terrible time to change personnel because most Visa’s are usually in the Office at that time.

So with that in mind my best advice to you for September 2022 is to pressure your students to apply and pay early for Ireland and have their Visa’s submitted by May 2022.

Anyway, all I can do is advise with regard to Visa submissions. So I have said it now. No point in asking me to talk to the Embassy- you know I can’t do it.

APPLY EARLY = HAPPIER STUDENTS = HAPPIER AGENTS = HAPPIER X

We had a similar experience in 2019 which lead to visa decisions / applications taking 3 months to 4 months on average to process. I will advise June as the latest time to apply for September 2022 intakes, else just defer till Jan 2023 (God willing) then apply for visa by October 2022 towards Jan 2023 intake.

The embassy is not concerned about your age if self-sponsoring yourself. They are concerned about your source of Income or proof of Employment and how either you or your sponsor came about the required funds.

show a proof of the end of service , pensions, gratuity and pensions account + other required docs of the second sponsor; more importantly establish how you are related to both sponsors with legal documents.

quote author=Adaobiada post=108777887]Hello everyone,
This is my first time contributing on Naira land although I always read threads.

I just got admitted for Meng to study in Ireland for September 2022, I got a €1,500 scholarship my tuition is now €13,500.

I’m 24years old and I’ll be sponsoring myself, I have a day job, I freelance and also trade forex.

It is normal that I’ll be sponsoring my self?
I don’t have anyone to sponsor me.

Yes I’d have paid my full tuition before visa application, what are my chances of getting approved?

Thank you in advance for your response.

There is no age limit to self-sponsoring/ sponsorship. So far you can provide convincing proof and documentation for source of income and source of finance then you are good to go.

All the best.
