Hi nairalanders, pls i need advice on which country i could go to study with my 12m, i have my Bsc degree i recently obtained from a University in Benin Republic. I'll be 30 this year and i want to leave this country unfailingly this year.

Depending on your previous course and intended course:

1. 1 year Masters degree in Republic of Ireland - Average Tuition starts from 9000 euros (4.5m)- if single funds required for visa application is 7,000 euros (3.5m)- visa fee and health insurance is approximately 550 euros - 250,000 naira. Overall projected cost is 8.5m. After 1 year Masters program, students automatically get 2 - 5 years work permit. Visa guarantee is 90%

2. 1 year masters or Postgraduate certificate program in Canada - Costs an average of 5.5m (17,000CAD). Some schools may be cheaper while others may be more expensive though. Expected proof of funds for visa application is 10000 CAD to 12000CAD - 4.5m; visa guarantee is 40%. Overall projected cost is 10.5m inclusive of visa fee, IOM / Medical tests, ielts etc

3. The UK has 95% visa guarantee and 2 years post study work permit after completing a 1 year masters program. However, proof of funds for visa application excluding tuition often ranges from 8m to 12m depending on the university of choice.

Additional fees for UK are, visa fee at 486 usd to 503 usd
Medical health surcharge from 986 usd to 1600 usd depending on the duration of program

I want to clarify if Duolingo is still accepted during the visa processing period or its only IELTS for 2022.
Secondly, What else should i start to prepare for from now till June application time in order not to rush during that period.

It is official , DUOLINGO has been approved by DFA for visa applications henceforth . Exceptions to Nursing Students if their school would accept Duolingo as they often accept Academic IELTS

Scholarship 2022:

1. GOI IES Scholarship: 60 International students valued @ 10,000 euros - deadline 25th March,2022 (I have an IG Live with a recipient of the Scholarship next Thursday feb 3rd 2022)
Applicable to 1 year BSc top up students, 1 year MSc/MA, 3rd or 4th year of PhD

2. National College of Ireland: 2000 euros off for 2nd class lower graduates (2:2) , 4000 euros off for 2nd class upper graduates (2:1) Future leaders scholarship 50% off (7500 euros off)- mostly for 1st class exceptional students ; MSc Entrepreneurship 50% off (7500 euros off)- limited to just 5 students in Nigeria

3. Waterford Institute of Technology: 2000 euros off for PG students and 20% off for Undergraduate students- deadline May 2022

4. MTU Kerry for Nursing students - Fees at 10,250 euros + Free accommodation

5. MTU Cork - 15% to 25% off Tuition fees

Someone new may not be as strict and could potentially be better but same rules apply and we need to keep the standard up.



However its never a great time when they do rotate in August – it’s a terrible time to change personnel because most Visa’s are usually in the Office at that time.



So with that in mind my best advice to you for September 2022 is to pressure your students to apply and pay early for Ireland and have their Visa’s submitted by May 2022.


Anyway, all I can do is advise with regard to Visa submissions. So I have said it now. No point in asking me to talk to the Embassy- you know I can’t do it.

We had a similar experience in 2019 which lead to visa decisions / applications taking 3 months to 4 months on average to process. I will advise June as the latest time to apply for September 2022 intakes, else just defer till Jan 2023 (God willing) then apply for visa by October 2022 towards Jan 2023 intake.

Apparently this takes 6 to 12 months . Just keep praying, if however you intend applying to other embassies you could write the Irish Embassy to send back your passport.

The embassy is not concerned about your age if self-sponsoring yourself. They are concerned about your source of Income or proof of Employment and how either you or your sponsor came about the required funds.

Proof of Ties will be based on future aspirations for both - what is the plan after the wife's study -this part and finances will determine approval of their visa. Honesty and strategic explanations will be required

Yes, he / she will however be required to have a Guardian - if Ireland , an IRISH GARDA APPROVED Guardian ; if the UK, British National is required to be presented as the student's in-country guardian.

show a proof of the end of service , pensions, gratuity and pensions account + other required docs of the second sponsor; more importantly establish how you are related to both sponsors with legal documents.

There is no age limit to self-sponsoring/ sponsorship. So far you can provide convincing proof and documentation for source of income and source of finance then you are good to go.

Scan and send via email; state your full names, school you applied to, Transaction number or visa application ref number and the ielg number on your submission slip given at the VFS when you submitted.

More importantly include details about the doc you are sending; e.g please find attached my previous work reference letter from GTBank as proof of Gap year between 2018 and 2019 . I sincerely apologise for this omission.

Please sir, I will to know something about Visa cancellation or revoke, I have been given Visa to Ireland for study at Dublin Business School and my program start January 24 2022 and from all indication the journey may not be possible due to medical reasons, my question is it, will my tuition fees be refunded back to me? I reached out to my agent she is telling me that they will not refund my tuition fees please sir help me and suggest to me on what to do

I've previously had a client who got visa in 2019 for DBS and decided not to proceed. DBS at the time refunded her tuition probably with a deduction of administrative fee. If you are able to reach out to Giles and you have medical proof of why you cant travel or start online then they probably may be able to refund.

From an agent perspective more importantly if you've benefitted from free services all through , this is a total waste of time and effort so make it worthwhile financially to your agent or counsellor in Charge.

We are a family of 6 and I have been working in the middle east for the past 16years, my family has been here with me for more than 10years.

I am planning to relocate my family to Europe, Republic of Ireland to be precise as I am in-love with the family orientation in the country and it is an English country.

My wife has a diploma from Nigerian Polytechnic and I am looking at the possibility of her and our four kids relocating to Ireland while I stay back in the middle East. I, personally earn better here and not thinking of relocating but will be visiting my family routinely.


For people that are already living in Ireland, could you guide us on the best way to achieve this and any risk or challenge to expect especially on the two listed below.

a) Have heard going through school route is a viable options which I am willing to explore for my wife, I am concerned if the country will be able to give my kids visa too to join their mother while she study.

b) Also what would child care/nanny support be like for a mother of 4 (kids age 11, 9, 7 and 4), heard it is expensive in Ireland, what is the possibility of having my mother-in-law stay with them to provide child care and save that extra cost.

If you are in Lagos, you should wait preferably for 6 to 7 weeks before getting anxious. If in Abuja then 4-6 weeks. You submitted at peak period though so decisions at that time may take longer.

I'll suggest you contact your school on the possible quarantine measures required by the Irish Government first and possibly wait till 20th dec to see new measures that may be implemented or if Travel ban measures would be lifted first.

On the application I filled online, in the address field I put in my school’s address and phone number.
For the Application i submitted at vfs, i submitted just the booking application confirmation and nothing else.

I think you should state clearly if you intend to live on campus or outside campus and with the new variant - Everyone should have a solid quarantine plan in place even if you are fully vaccinated.

I provided a booking confirmation when I applied initially and in my refusal letter one of the reason for denial is “insufficient evidence provided to person the applicant intends to stay within the state” What can I do about this please? Do I need to pay for the booking or what?

I have no idea the address you stated on your initial app and the relationship to the person who lives at the address. so I am unable to provide an answer.

Interesting, there is always a first time ; you could try it and let us know how it goes . But their instruction clearly states to use courier preferably DHL or UPS

Good morning everyone. Please i would need your assistance. My husband is applying to study in ireland for an undergraduate course, however there are discrepancies on Dob on his international passport and waec certificate. The date on birth on his waec is 12-8-1989 instead and that of his international pssprt is 8-12-1989. The correct dob is 8-12-1989(int passport). I was told his visa would be rejected, i want to know if an affidavit and newspaper publication can suffice as waec has stopped correcting errors on certificate. The sworn affidavit would fly if the mistake is on the WAEC results. However, i think the concern would more importantly why he's undertaking an UG program and how strong are his finances or finance of his sponsor.
