Danielnino00: I was referring to the u-20 Afcon..
I follow updates on Africa football on BBC Africa and supersport Facebook page.. those southern Africans really hate Hayatou. They claim that he was being biased toward them by not awarding them afcon hosting rights... Leaves me wondering which country apart from south Africa has the capacity to host the afcon... Ok. AYC Qualifiers. Yeah Zimbabwe wanted to host one time and they fell short and the AFCON was moved elsewhere same with Zambia. They now want to use Ahmad Ahmad's tenure to dominate the continent. Meaning they believe they have been marginalized all these while. |

DrLikita12: Remo Stars (NNL) player, Sodiq, transfers to Danish side Fremad Amager (first and second pictures). They seem to have a good set up. Their U17s will be participating in the third division (NLO) and their U15s recently lost a game to Lagos U15s (third and fourth pictures). . If most teams are able to emulate this and verify the ages of their age grade players it will provide a continuous supply of genuine, quality talent regardless of whether we are able to win age grade competitions or not. At least on the senior level we will see a lot of improvement. I'm sure a few people can recognize the young man on the far left in the red jersey. At bolded. A good one, worthy of emulation by other clubs. And the boys really look U17 and U15 respectively. That guy with captain arm band in the U15 pix is really a promising talent (forgotten his name now). He looks bigger now. Modified: The last pix seems like the Lagos state team, with the Lagos state emblem on their chests. |

Danielnino00: This zoning thing was also used for the AWCON and u-20 awcon.. This Ahmad Ahmad wants to try at all cost to get his region more slot in Africa. A region that has always been at the bottom of the chain in Africa football. I know for sure that he won't try it with the afcon..even with d new 24 team system.. unless he wants caf to lose revenue It was not used for the U20 Women Qulaifiers because we played Tanzania and Morocco to qualify. And the U17 girls played Ethiopia and Cameroon. But if them try am for AFCON or FIFA WC qualifiers then I will personally evoke......... on Ahmad Ahmad

daveP: The zoning is going to back fire soon. wonder what those guys wana do at u17. well whatever happens I hope they get brain fast. West Africa combined have 5 u17 world cups. Well if I'm to choose between removing Hayatou and getting this new format, I'll choose removing Hayatou. Say what? West Africa has 7! Nigeria 5 and Ghana 2. West Africa has won the last 7 CAF U17 editions: Gambia 2005 Nigeria 2007 Gambia 2009 Burkina Faso 2011 CIV 2013 Mali 2015 Mali 2017. Only South Africa, from outside the WA subregion played as losing finalists. At the World stage in the last 6 editions: Nigeria 1st 2007 Nigeria 2nd 2009 Nigeria 1st 2013 Nigeria 1st, Mali 2nd 2015 Mali 4th 2017 Plus other West African teams making Q/Finals on several occasions. I still do not understand why WAFU accepted this devilish arrangement. |

gamaliel9: You have full marks on this..the u21 is a different bowl of eba and egusi soup--thats what i will eat this afternoon by the way....If we ever get this right...the result will be booom...they will move straight to main teams with their age..and start playing immediately...but at u17 hum...they are still seen as academy players...lets hope that our NFF take note of this and act fast. MOST ARGENTINE S MAJOR PLAYERS CAME UP THROUGH U21 NOT U17....Maradona..Batistuta...Messi...etc I have been preaching this gospel for long. The U20 is the main thing and not U17. We have achieved what no other country in the world has achieved at U17. 5 Gold, 3 Silver. Nothing even the Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Germany, France of this world has that record. But what have we achieved at the age grade directly after that? 2 Silver. There is definitely a disconnect. And if we fail to address it squarely we will continue to fail. And yes, you are very right at stating that the U20 is the main key to producing players for the national teams. |

gamaliel9: winning the u17 five times has not really brought us glory at senior level....Olympics is an age group competition....most national teams i think have more players who win at u21 than players who win at u17...Argentina is a perfect example of this....even Columbia....i think we should add more vibe to u21 than u17...
Again the transition from u17 to u21 does not really work like that...we always crash when we do it.
Its better we transit from u21 to national team...most players who play in national team were already members of the Olympic team.... We have continued to fail at U20 because we ha continued to under estimate the competition at that level. I don't know if u have joined this thread when I was lamenting the selection process of the U20s. If we do well at U17 there is always the tendency to promote most of the U17 to U20. I don't have issues if they all merit the promotion but where there are issues is where the coach will chose to remain loyal to his U17 players if he is promoted along with them, there by ignoring other players who were not part of the U17 and have the quality to knock out some of those ex-U17 players. Why we have continued to perform relatively better at U23 than at U20 is because we have always failed at U20 and so there will not be this cry of promoting all the U20 players to U23. At U23, we go for the best available and we have often seen the results. Throw the U20 screening open and select our best Available legs within that age you'll see the difference. Each time we win the U17 , two years later we either crash out at the Group stage of the U20 or at best 2nd round. Our best U20 performances have never come 2 years after winning an U17 WC. And on the World level, no country has ever won the U17 and two years later won the U20. Same U17 players loyalty is a major reason. Sometimes I don't know if those in our NFF technical committees have not taken time to observe these trends. The last England U20 winning team should be a model we should copy, matured U20 squad, full of experience. Not parading 16, 17 years old academy players as U20 and expecting them to do magic |

mank1234: Actually 3 slots for WAFU. Unfortunately (the strongest zone), Nig, Gha, BFA, CIV are in in zone B which produces one slot only. WAFU Zone A produces 2 slots and coincidentally that's the weakest WAFU zone.
The justification for such a stupid skewed arrangement is the need to develop smaller countries football.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Africa_U-17_Cup_of_Nations OK. Noted. But this zoning nonsense should be scrapped! |

Danielnino00: Are there any replacements lineup up for Ekong,Iwobi and Aina?
I would suggest Ekong- Seth Iwobi - Bonaventure/Success Aina- Muhammed Sebi there are players on the reserve list. Opportunity for them. Note that Seth is a RB and so not a direct replacement for Ekong. for the CB position, with Balogun, Omeruo and Awaziem in the squad we don't have issues. |

JoebieII: Even Mali no be beans. Mali, Guinea, Senegal and co will battle for the other WAFU ticket. This is a tournament that most times all the 4 African tickets are taken by teams from West Africa. Countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, CIV, B.Faso, and Guinea have been known to produce the best teams from Africa at this age level. Now the useless CAF has limited the number of ticket from WA to African U17 to 2. This is a big scam and totally unacceptable. They are trying to favor countries for South and East Africa at the detriment of producing quality teams to represent Africa. What a shame. |

Icon4s: There are 7 countries in this zone.
Niger, Togo and Ghana make up group A Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Benin are in Group B. Benin disqualified now.
Two teams will emerge from each group to the semis. We have 2 finalists and ONLY THE WINNER makes it to the African U17 Championship. If u ask me this qualifying series is tougher than the group stage of the U17 WC. I don't know how WAFU came to accept this devilish arrangement. How can Nigeria and Ghana, two World giants at this stage have to now be battling for one spot amongst other descent sides like CIV and Burkina Faso. This is devilish. So who are those that will play the African qualifiers from other zones? Likes of Malawi, Tanzania, South Africa and the likes? Nonsense! |
