TheSuperNerd: You are right Marvelous Basco... Ekong has always been a leader in how own rights too. And Yes, Rohr building more leaders on the team is part of this move. Really hope to see Ekong channel the "anointing" that comes with the skipper's band "right"... Ekong now seems to be the leader of that backline. |

somehow: Probable lineup according to Murphy I know a lot will question why Onazi is starting ahead of Joel Obi. Joel is more like a newbie in Rohr's lineup. Coaches typically start Newbies from the bench. |

EmmGee: honestly, I kind of want us to lose today.
Not a humiliating loss. The kind of loss that would make the fans and opponents applaud us.
I beieve through mistakes we would get better.
It's better we lose now and know our weaknesses before the wc.
Also I hope too many changes will not be made because that might upset the tempo. We have identified our weaknesses from games past and have been working on them. My expectation is for us to see if we have improved on our weaknesses and not for us to lose so as to identify new weaknesses. Even if there are New weaknesses I would not want them to be too bad. |

Mujtahida: My brother. I had begun to type just exactly what you wrote above but I lost steam midway and just wrote glory Hunter Weh done. Joel Obi was resisted because of his injury woes. Nobody queried his quality or his ability to blend with the team. And the fact is even in the media (we sef na media now ooo, aka social media) his injury woes was the only issue that kept popping up. Solace Chukwu even wrote an article addressing this point. Na im my brother forgiveness want take the glory. Even now, his making the final team irrespective of his performance in the friendlies is still in doubt. Some times coaches can drop a player because of this kind of uncertainty. He may make the final team now and sustain an injury 5minutes into the tournament and remain ruled out for the rest of the tournament, thereby making the team in short of one player. If a Player like Joel Obi is in a team you must be sure to have at least 2 back-up players for his position while other positions may have 1 back-up. That can be a headache for the coach. |

DrKlever: But wait ooh! i was just wondering, since Poland's home kit is white nd red. Does it mean the super eagles will wear the all green away jesery for easy distinction or the home kit. personally i would like the see then in the home kits. I raised this question weeks ago. TheSuperNerd dey call me Jerseymatics. We go dey look na. Poland cannot wear Red and white and we wear Green and white. We can only wear that green on white if Poland compromise their home jersey by wearing all red. Else we are wearing the Dark green. Who is home in the fixture between Nigeria and Serbia? Mind you Serbia's home jersey is Dark blue on white. if Serbia is the home team in the fixture and they chose to wear their Blue on white? Wetin we go come wear? |

Martz101: It wont be a big blow, we better lose now than in the worldcup, we still have time to fix our self.
back to history books, our best worldcup in 1994, we lost all but one of our friendly game against lesser teams, it was even worst in 1998, when teams were disgracing us in friendly, Holland beat us 5-1, I remember watching that game, our keeper baruwo "omo Alhaja" was so poor, I'm not sure he made the worldcup team.
Win or lose nothing spoil Good. I was expecting this example to come up. The 98 team was just coming back together after a long time of inactivity. Remember we were banned from the 1998 AFCON. The friendlies reveled lots of holes in that team. But... that team had quality. We all knew that. Expectations were still high despite the friendly loses. Remember Rufai and Eguavoen were called back. Oparaku was dropped but recalled due to injury to Jero Shakpoke. These were some of the shake-ups that took place after those humiliating defeats in the friendlies. That team could play and we knew it. Then also whether you perform well in friendlies or not does not completely imply you will have a good tournament or not. But one thing is sure, any team that is not well grounded, if they start well in a tournament even if they were poor in friendlies , they will come crashing when it matters most. So it is vital that you do well in your preparations and still transfer it into the tournament. This will ensure the team stays on top even beyond the tournament. |

oloriooko: So peradventure we lose to Poland 4-0, does that make the team useless? We are sure building a team for the future, presently we should not get our hopes too high even when they fail to win, we should stand by them and allow the coaches do their jobs. Personally, i see friendlies as inconsequential and unconnected to the WC proper Bro, don't be deceived by our thrashing of Argentina in last game, at the WC those guys will be a totally different bunch of players Firstly, the number one aim of this team now is to build for the 2018 WC. And then secondarily build for future. Building for future is also hinged on performance in the 2018WC. Now, if the team loses 4-0 to Poland it definitely does not mean the team is useless. But this is a kind of result we don't just say "forget, it is just a friendly". I have personally tipped Poland as favorites in that game but I would be happy for us to win but even if we lose we should give a good account of ourselves thereby giving us hopes of a better game against Serbia. Now on winning against Argentina. Yes it is a friendly but it has become a major confidence booster. We tried a formation that worked. And it means it is a formation we can also play. We put that into the bag. If we had lost with that formation it would have been a major set back as the coach may not be too comfortable with us playing it. So it is important that we get results from the various options we experiment on. |

oloriooko: This friendly match will afford Rohr opportunity to observe the team closer and see how he can fortify the weak spots in the team. While many Nigerians may be expecting a win, the coach will probably be more interested in some intricacies in the team which many fans are oblivious of. These friendly matches will not exhibit the proper strength of the team as every player will want to avoid injuries and WC is fast approaching. I wish the coaches are not distracted with winning instead of seeking for amends where needed. This is not a new team that is just being assembled. Every game the team has played thus far has given Rohr the opportunity of having a closer look at the team not just this one. It is team building in progress. The expectation is for the team to have improved from the previous weaknesses observed from previous matches. I for one expect a better play than what we saw against Argentina. But if we fail to win nothing is lost. We look at our short comings and improve on it so that we have a better game against Serbia. The momentum of the team is on the upward trend and it is important we sustain and continue to build on it and hit the WC with that form. Not that we lose 4-0 to Poland and say it is just a friendly. |

TheSuperNerd: The likely 4-2-3-1 formation may look like Nacho being the one in the center (AMC)..... with Iwobi to the left (AML) and Moses to the right (AMR)
Now, what if it is Iwobi as the AMC, Nacho to the right as the AMR cutting into his left foot and interchanging with Iwobi at will, then with Moses to the left as the AML... in that triumvirate attacking midfield combo behind Ighalo?
Time will tell.... If we go for a 4-2-3-1 I would like to see a forward line that looks like this: ................Ighalo Iwobi.. Iheanacho.. V. Moses Joel and Ndidi should mount the CM and DM respectively. |

Martz101: Akpeyi is a better keeper to Ezenwa, making mistakes don't make you a bad keeper and for some good reasons Rohr and his crew know, that's why they kept Faith in akpeyi Akpeyi has suddenly become better than Ezenwa. I thought he was the worst goalkeeper that has worn the Eagles jerseys? Oga, I judge players more based on their performances in the Super Eagles. Ezenwa has performed better than Akpeyi in the Eagles jerseys. |

Daejoyoung: lf Mickel isn't there, then it's a good one for us to see how Joel Obi bears the creative burden of the team from Midfield. For some reason, Etebo couldn't do it against South Africa, let's see what Joel can do. I understand your point. But Joel Obi, no matter what he does against Poland of course cannot be banked on. And you know why. We cannot rely on him as a replacement for Mikel. |

Kog45: Sir Ezenwa was damn terrible in that match and looked rusty.
Go back to page 3068 and read reviews on his performance in that particular match.
Focusing on Ezenwa and Uzoho?then Akpeyi shouldn't get call again if he can't slug it out with very average Ezenwa and Uzoho. Reviews from who? I have learned not to trust individuals reviews because most are filled with sentiments. I am not saying Akpeyi should be dropped. He is likely the 3rd choice let us focus more the first and second choice and build their confidence level. |

Kog45: Good team lists but we need to see Akpeyi again just 45 minutes is okay,Ezenwa with his performance against Energies of Benin should be on the bench and Uzoho deserves the starting spot to really ascertain may be he is ready. Ezenwa should be on the bench because of his performance in a game they won 3-2? Have you seen the highlights of the game? We better just focus on Ezenwa and Uzoho and leave Akpeyi out of it.
