Well, TheSuperNerd, I have read the 'epistle' (as you put it), you have up there. Believe me i read every word.

I am here with a mandate from the good sports family of nairaland particularly the Super Eagles thread.

A lot has been said by virtually everyone including you. No need repeating words.

TheSuperNerd we want you back.

There is the saying that winners never quit and quitters never win.

We all started the thread together and we must all see to the end of it. We will win together.

Gladly everyone has said his or her mind and for this I believe it will fashion out how we interact moving forward.

I am not against the thread you created. I mean this is nairaland and nobody has the monopoly of creating threads. I, for one, have created threads on nairaland but that does not stop me from commenting on our Super Eagles thread.

We hope to qualify for the 2018 WC on October 7th. How will it be that we will be discussing players selection and tactics for the WC and you are left out.
We just need your presence and contributions.

I respect your decision of we giving you some time off. That is fine by us.

Just know we are all ready to embrace you on your return.

Highly Seconded. It's better to have peace, it's better to resolve this thing once for all. I nominate You, kog45 and tbaba1234 as members of the reconciliation team. Others can have positive input. Both of them erred.

Let me also say this generally it would greatly help if we all have the mind of Seun who owns nairaland who is self effacing and has no sense of entitlement. My thread, my thread, our thread, our thread no be am if it leads us to erecting walls around opinions we feel are sacrosanct. No opinion is unassailable. Again I tell you that views can be disagreed with in a most polite way and maybe even strongly without insults and name calling and put downs. Sometimes we do not have patience with contrary opinions. Not good enough please. I don't enjoy the dark views of Mickael2 but I know we need that healthy dose of scepticism for the sake of balance(fact is I don't like it but I like it). It's not for nothing that he and nerd do clash often(some have erroneously interpreted it as envy). He is the counterpoint to nerd's enthusiastic and positive views. Goodjoe always uses humour to blunt the edge of the axe of criticism and sometimes insults. Komekn is truly a British man, highly cultured and urbane.

I respect an intelligent man but I respect an intelligent heart more.
Well spoken. I can't agree with you more.

Ladies and gentlemen.

I am personally not happy with happenings here.
This is a thread that I always visit to make myself happy and I am sure so does most others here.

It is true this thread was formed by a few number of us but it has grown to what it is today because everybody is always welcomed here.

On the recent feud between TheSuperNerd and Pietorico. Both of them were wrong. And we have exhausted all energies to condemn their actions.

However, I cannot stay in a house that is divided. I don't know Pietorico that much cos he is not much of a regular here but TheSuperNerd I know very well and he is like a son to me.

I suggest we set up a reconciliatory committee.

Elders of the house and every one else I need your take on this.

He is one of our illustrious sons here and not withstanding his short comings we still need him here. He is a great guy.

I need 1,2 or 3 persons to agree with me on this so we settle this issue once and for all.

This thread has grown beyond a social media
It is now like a family. A house divided cannot stand.
Who is with me on this?

I am sure you know there are better ways of addressing someone whose view you find as offensive.

true, but that doesnt mean we have a strong bench, they might not be good as the regular players, but they should be able to hold there own when push comes to shove.

i tend to agree with you but to a certain extent. yes, there is no need changing the core of the squad, but why cant we have a strong bench. get players who brings enough competition, not some mediocres. let me give an example, in the double header against cameroun, the moment mikel was subbed, our midfield collapsed. does dat means we cnt get a capable replacement for mikel?, even if its not up to mikel's standard but he can still hold his own...nt guys like mikel agu
Things like these can happen to any team. You would hardly have a fringe player who is equally as good as the regular player.

I would not know exactly what role Mikel Agu was assigned to perform when he came in for Mikel Obi. Was it CM role or DM role? Mikel was played as an AM and I don't think Mikel Agu's introduction came as a like for like switch. Looks like Agu played a deeper role.

That was just a conservative move to secure the lead but it almost cost us. Besides, it was normal that at the dying moments of that game that the Cameroonians would come all over us because they needed that win desperately.

That's it,quite agreed with u,a new player must be better than d one on d ground. For example Ajiboye came in and displaced Alampasu, meaning Ezenwa and Akpeyi needs to sit tight.

Pls lets go down to memory lane to make things clearly to those who believe that a lot of players are still needed in this team.

The evolution of 1980 nations cup squad started in 1976 with player like an half caste Tunji Banjo,Adokiye Aimesemeaka,Henry Nwosu broke into d team to 1980 nations cup,d team lasted till 1982 with young Keshi,Humphery Edebor,Ademola Adeshina making d team.

Maroc 88 team started in 1984 but d team couldn't make it to afcon 86 eliminated by Zambia losing 1 nil at Lusaka and goaless draw in Lagos but d team came out strong later. This team can be compared to d present squad coz a German was engaged in d name of Manfred Horner who brought in few youngs and new players like Wole Odegbami, Ndubuisi Okosieme,Folorunsho Okenla,Andrew Uwe,Bunmi Adigun

I remember evolution of US94 squad by Westerhoff and i can say d building of that team started late 89 in a match against Cameroon in Yaoundé and d team moved from there to Algiers 90,Senegal 92,Tunisia 94,only two player broke into that team, namely Chidi Nwanu and Mike Emenalo to US 94,though Westerhoff had good 4 to 5 years.

The evolution of afcons 98,2000&2002 started partially at US 94 but fully at Atlanta 96 where we have bunch of Super Eagles players making d team, players like Uche Okechucwu,Emma Amuneke,Daniel Amokachie, Victor Ikpeba,Tijani Babangida and fringe Eagles prayers like Kanu Nwankwo,Celestine Babayaro,Taribo West,Garba Lawal. It must be noted that very few players broke into this team.

The new era of Super Eagles started at 2002 WC and it last till 2010 WC,this was a period we have different class of players coming into d team coz it cannot be compared to d evolutionary of their predecessors but notwithstanding we can mentioned d numbers of players that broke into d team toward 2010 WC.

The 2014 WC team started in 2012 after Eagles failed to qualify for afcon 2012,with superlatives performance in 2013 winning afcon but their evolution was misery coz Keshi couldn't keep d momentum by bringing in different class of players.2015 and 2017 we couldn't make afcon due to a lot of factors.

Now on d verge of making WC with Rohr in charge,if we look at this team,we just need to give credit to Rohr for able to raise a very good team in a short period,no coach has ever done this with Super Eagles. At least we can say this is our XI for a very long time, praying that d evolution of this team extended to 2022 WC.

Presently we are having a team we can back on,hoping nothing happens towards their qualifications to Russia.I reiterate it that 75% of this squad w make it to Russia.

Yeah a good analysis.

Not bringing down the younger ones among us here but the truth is that some of us have been in the game for long and so we really understand how these things work. Experience they say is the best teacher.

Yesterday, humility said I was always defending the coaches and make them look super humans or something. The truth is that is their profession and they have loads of years of experience to back it up. You can't walk into a medical Doctor's office and start disproving his diagnosis, prescription or something.

Following the trend of build up of the national teams in the past I see this current team peaking between 2019 AFCON and 2022 WC. The relative lack of depth in experience in several department of the team may become an undoing at the critical stages of next year's WC. For eg our own Balogun "omo Dodondawa" is going to the world cup for the first time. With all his heroics here in African, his true test will come when he faces forwards like Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Aguero, Sanchez, etc name them. We never knew Eguavoen was our weakest link in that 94 Class until Roberto Baggio exposed him.

I believe so much in this team. The quality is there and thus far the technical crew are maximizing it .

I remember Mikel Obi was rated like this sometimes ago in EPL,does anybody reckon with it.

Onazi is far ahead of Azubuike. It was on this thread people are rating Etebo over Mikel until recently they see that d difference is wide.

Azubuike a good player no doubt, watching Olympics d guy was solid but for now he has Agu to contend with not Onazi.
Let me chip in on this Azubuike issue.

Azubuike is a player I rate so highly. But the problem is just like Shehu Abdulahi he seems not to have a good agent.

Remember his heroics at the CAF U23 (Olympics) qualifiers even then as an 18years old. You saw his inputs in the midfield of that Olympics team.

He was one of the standout performers from the Olympics.

Remember also that Azubuike played for the Super Eagles against Egypt in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers. You saw how he was able to combine excellently well with Etebo in that midfield.

I have not been impressed with Mikel Agu for the two occasions I have watched him play for the Super Eagles.

You can quote me any where, I rate Azubuike Okechukwu more than Mikel Agu.

People seem to forget the boy is just 20 years old and just still emerging.

Was it Adepoju?
I just read a while ago, one of our ex-footballers saying only one area in our defense needs to be fixed.
I suspect he was referring to our left-back
I have said it before and will say it again that if we can raise a team that can top a group comprising of Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia then we have a team that can achieve a lot at the World Cup.

After the qualifiers I don't expect more than 2 or at most 3 changes from the starting line up going into the world cup.

I said it at the beginning of Rohr's campaign that for him to effectively build a TEAM he must have REGULARS both in the team and in the squad.

My stand is you can only introduce a new player if he is better than the one(s) already in the squad.

That pace you saw from the Zambians against Algeria was cos Algeria didn't have their own pace to trouble them. There's a kinda pace you'd be faced with that you'd have to channel most of your own pace in defending. Zambia need to be worried about the 2 Moses. If God wan come punish Zambia to the fullest that day, and allow Rohr mistakenly play Aina in LB, then it would be the same pace that attacks that would also defend against Zambia.... Bro leave matter for Matthias, Zambia would see the kinda speed they have never seen before in this qualifiers. Every coach has complained against Nigeria's style due to our coordinated speedy plays.
