I believe either Eze or Adeleye, one should take d place of Agbo in d team unless Omeruo is available.

I don't need to wait til CHAN to see a promising player.Enyeama had only one appearance before his superlatives performance against England, when u see a player u know irrespective of d oppositions.
And again who were the other options as Ike Shoronmu was already retiring?

The other day some one was making a case that Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Ajiboye ought to have been introduced into the Super Eagles long before now. I asked who were our 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice goalies when Ezenwa and Ajoboye were coming up? Answer: Enyeama, Ejide, Ayenugba. Were Ezenwa and Ajiboye near the trio then?

Opportunity to perform mostly lies on the availability of the opportunity. If you are good and there a people who are better the availability of the opportunity may not be there.

Let us see Adeleye and Eze again in CHAN in January and then we re-asses them.

My man pls don't deviate,am i crazy to pick Eze and Adeleye over Awaziem and Omeruo.I said invite this guys to mainstream Eagles for them to learn than inviting player like Agbo.

Pls what was d state of Nigeria league when Mba,Oboboana made super eagles XI. The league may be faulty but that should not stop us from looking inward, that's my point.

I'm one of d people who believed so much in Akpeyi but d recent showing of Ezenwa proved me wrongly coz his calmness in a goalposts is a top notch but is here doing it domestically.

Alhassan Muzzam moved from d same league to Austria vien as a starter,Odey to fc Zurich.Pls we can still find one or two that can sweat it out with our foreign based and get valuable experience.
If you get my point, I am saying the current quality of the league is lagging in the production of players to match the current quality of the Super Eagles. We have not even finished capping the exciting young players springing up all over Europe in more advanced leagues.

Obaobona and Omeruo took over CB positions from Onyekachi Apam and Dele Adeleye, Ambrose was also a CB. The lack of available options at CB at that time necessitated the introduction of Obaobna and a young Omeruo. Apam had injuries problems while Adeleye was fast losing form

Sunday Mba with the form he was in that 2013 will not make the AM position in this current team. Gba be.

That is the issue, we already have two starting CBs: Balogun and Ekong. And then Awaziem, Agbo and Omeruo are fringe CBs. For you to invite Eze and Adeleye you have to drop 2 out of the regulars and fringe players. What do we need 7 CBs in camp for?

If you agree that Adeleye and Eze are not at par with Awaziem and Omeruo , who are not even regular CBs, what are you inviting them for? Just to come and learn? They should do that in the CHAN Team please.

Sentiments?look i w never be sentimental w it comes to players invitation to eagles, have pass that level.

Oboboana made it straight from local league,d same thing Sunday Mba,Finidi was playing in local league benching Tijani before moving to Ajax.Amuneke in Zamalek then benching Ikpeba or are u saying no such player again in local league or if I see one with good promise i should continue raving for player like Agbo.

I did not know Eze or Adeleye until this wafu and from what i see so far they can go places if given d chance and necessary support,so expressing my opinions is sentiment coz they are local lads.
Just also like Keshi, Yekini, Amokachi, Kanu, Oruma, Okocha, Mikel, name them started from the local league.
What we are looking at now is the current standard of the league compared to the the quality of the Super Eagles.

Any player that must be introduced into the team must be better than the player he is displacing from the list. Simple.

You cannot tell me you will pick Adeleye and Eze as back up CBs over Awaziem and Omeruo. If you so chose Adeleye and Eze over Awaziem and Omeruo, well....your choice. undecided

Amuzie has played a full season in portugal and is now in Switzerland. He has caps for the national team and has played in the olympics.

Professional football is not the same as academy football.

Okon and Mustapha Abdullahi have done nothing of note professionally.

According to the scouting report, this Abbas guy was one of the best players in Latvia, last season. He is certainly above those that have not started their professional careers.

Meaning they know their team already. But 14 is too small. meaning 11 players and the 3 substitutes. A minimum of 18 should ok.

Oga.. my question for you is, why did you not include Amuzie in this discussion? He was among the trio i mentioned right. You just want to start a this vs that argument.

I think if you follow this discussion from the start, you will understand where I am coming from. semid4lyfe had asked for Rohr to have a look in on Abass for LB.

I had asked semid4lyfe for a link and possibly a video as well. And said as long as we see class we will know. I don't write people off based on their present circumstances. That's my personality. I like to see, and then make an opinion. After careful consideration of the scout report, I was glad that the report was very balanced, and there was no sign of hyping the player. Then I said, based on the report, I don't see him ahead of the trio. Context is those players we have known before him, and they barely had a chance in SE because they are still in their early development stage. For Abass to considered ahead of them, we need to see more than just a report I will consider excellent for his age and stature, but average for the fact that the context is invitation to the Super Eagles.

I'm not here for this vs that arguments. Even a player still in a Nigerian Academy can have those qualities I read in the report. I'm not writing off the boy. But I still see him in the league of Okon and Abdulahi. We know how this development thing go. It's too early my brother for such comparisons.
Who is this Abass?

Awaziem was one of the top players in the last Ligue 1 game, he played. He played un the centre of defence. He is playing at a much higher level than Eze and Adeleye and he is playing regularly.

He is young but he is solid. One bad game is not enough to write him off. With a strong season in Ligue 1, he can only get better.
Thank you for this post. Let any Super Egales invitee earn it. No 'slot for home based' sentiments.

Oga icon4s very unusual of u.Why are u trying to defend Ghana for losing this match,Ghana w always be Ghana against Nigeria irrespective of players fielded, our boys rose to d occasion and did well.
I am not defending Ghana. I am just exercising some caution.

I have seen things like these play out over and over. A team that has booked a place and also first spot to the next round of a competition typical dont give their best in their last group game. If Ghana had needed a win against Nigeria to qualify I hope you know they would want to die on that pitch.

By and large kudos to the boys but if we meet Ghana again and this time in the final they shouldn't expect an easy ride

On d third bullet point, well said, truly opposition determine player ability but sometimes it did not. When u see a class irrespective of opposition u know this particular player is good.

I just watched d match now coz I don't have d chance to watch it live, with what i saw Olamilekan Adeleye deserves a call up to mainstream super eagles ASAP may be he is ready to partner Ekong or Balogun,i w say too early to say that but it w be good for him to be in camp and learn from big boys.

As u said a more competitive matches w determine his ability but to me d guy is a rock that need to be polish,he just remind me of injury prone Oyekachi Apam.

It is better to have this guys Eze and Adeleye than calling average defenders like Uche Agbo to camp always.Oboboana made it straight from sunshine to Super Eagles XI.
The bolded is exactly my point.

Saying he is ripe to partner with Ekong or Balogun just from watching him against Ghana is what I am against.

If you know me long enough here i am not a type that likes throwing in names here and there. You need to have what it takes to play for the Super Egales of Nigeria. It is not a free for all team.

Hyping of players is not in my system. A player needs to be well tested at a very high level before he gets my nod to play for the Super Eagles.
I believe in professionalism and also that for you to play for the Super Eagles you must be a thorough professional player.

That is how highly i rate our Super Eagles.

There was nothing at stake for Ghana.

We had all at stake.

I have already given them kudos.

http://www.nigfooty.com/2017/09/observations-ghana-0-2-nigeria.html?m=1
Observations: Ghana 0-2 Nigeria
After the emphatic 2-0 victory over the Black Stars of Ghana, these are observations from Olamide Oyetunji.

●Aremu is a beast,He totally put Ghana midfield to his pockets, Ali joined Okpotu in attack most times.

●Ezenwa nearly commit another penalty and all the goals he has conceded are from the spots. He must watch it.

●Adeleye Olamilekan is ripe to partner any of Ekong and Balogun in the main Super Eagles, all his tackles are well timed but he has brain.
My man of the match even though he sustained a head injury.

●Peter Eneji is also exciting to watch.

●Ghana coach made a change from his regular starting eleven.

They lost 3players to injury/fatigue in the match against Nigeria.

●Ghana were just never winning the game, we started the match well playing the ball on the ground creating multiple chances but we switched off midway in the first half playing long balls to only Okpotu in the midst of five Ghanaians.
We played the ball on the ground in the second half and completely overpowered the Ghanaians thanks to Aremu who was cutting the Ghanaians like cake.

■Match Ratings
Ikechukwu Ezenwa- 6
Chima Akas- 7
Osas Okoro- 7
Stephen Eze-8
Olamilekan Adeleye-9
Afeez Aremu- 7
Ifeanyi Ifeanyi- 6
Rabiu Ali-6
Ubong Friday- 7
Anthony Okpotu- 7
Peter Eneji- 8
●Substitutes
Samuel Matthias- 5
Gabriel Okechukwu- 6
I totally disagree with the third bullet point. You also need to consider the strength of your opposition when making comparisons. If the author had said he deserves a call up to the Super Eagles fine but to say he is ripe to partner with any of Balogun or Ekong is a hype to me.

Besides also, let us not over celebrate. Ghana had already qualified and their top spot was certain no matter the result.

Third group matches for teams that have sealed qualification and top spot are always like that.

They don't typically put in too much because of suspension and injuries.
Their coach also may have rested key players and those at risk of missing the semis if they get a second yellow.

If we meet with them again in the final be sure it will be a different ball game.

Kudos to the boys all the same.
