Sir,Obafemi Martins is not 45 years old.He went to Italy with my far younger cousin whom they are of the same age range through Churchill Oliseh.

He started at a very young age and luck to hit it straight at Inter Milan from Nigeria.Mind you Martins didn't play Nigeria league.

If Rohr feel that Martins can do it,let him come to camp and prove himself.

Have you ever visited the South East in general and Anambra state in particular?

Unlike our neighbors, the Hausas and the Yorubas, Ndi Igbo do NOT depend on the govt handouts. They make things happen for themselves. That's why less than 20 years after a devastating civil war that wiped out the entire Igboland, the old East Central state became the most advanced and the most developed part of Nigeria despite practically zero federal govt investments.

You can envy Ndi Igbo all you want but, please, give them their dues.

That might be true but, Roger Miller is the exception not the rule. If Martins couldn't get the job done when he had a chance in 2010 World Cup, I honestly don't see how he could help us at his ripe old age.

Personally, I think Keshi treated him unfairly in 2014 World Cup but I don't think we need him right now. On current form, I don't see him providing anything substantially better than either Kelechi or Ighalo.

Bro, Roger Miller was still playing in Europe when he went to the World Cup. Martins is playing in the mediocre Chinese league. That's the problem ...a long with his age. In his case, it isn't age alone that is the problem .... it's age plus the level of competition/training he has had the past few years.

O pari

tbaba1234:
If Martins can still cut it, why not? As long as he does not disrupt team harmony.

Omo, Martins is at least 45 years old. Forget about all that 35 year old crap you hear .... that's his "football age".

I mean, he might be able to hack it in China but playing in the World Cup is a totally different ball game to playing in China. I don't think that Martins can last even 45 mins in high level, high intensity game. I was actually suggesting that Rohr should organize a separate training regiment for Ighalo and Mikel in the summer when they come to camp ... to help them with fitness, because I don't trust that Chinese league at all. Now you want to bring along an aged man like Oba Martins from the same mediocre league? No thanks grin

World Cup List: Rohr could invite some new faces, says Agali
By Ayo Olu Ibidapo - April 3, 2018 709 0

Former Super Eagles’ star Victor Agali is of the view that Coach Gernot Rohr could spring a few surprises ahead of naming his 35-man provisional World Cup list, admitting the Franco-German is keen to give equal opportunity to every player in other to select the best hands for the country.

The former OGC Nice attacker, who spoke to AOIFootball.com, said Nigerians should believe in Rohr because, after Bonfrere Jo and Clemence Westerhof, the Franco-German is the next best thing in terms of foreign coach to have happened to the country.

“I believe we all must be patient with Rohr because after the likes of Westerhof and Bonfrere Jo, I believe Gernot is another blessing to Nigerian football. He tries his best to carry everybody along, and gives players equal opportunity to be selected and listens to all is scouting and technical team.

“I know Gernot Rohr is fair to all and is committed to developing the image of our football. He will decide on that. I can’t comment on if he will stick with the ones he has tested and know or not, but may be one or two new faces, just maybe. I strongly believe we should scout more and know more of about opponents,” Agali concluded.

Don't worry, the el classico would happen in a few weeks time, let's see what the impact he's gonna have against Barcelona. And I would be interested to see his impact against the likes of Barca, Bayern, ManCity or even Liverpool in UEFA Cup semis.

CR7 is the worst football opportunist I have ever seen in my life. He would be angling around the 18 yard box while waiting for the others to do all the work for him, so he can score and take the credit. Ask yourself, how many goals would CR7 score if he doesn't have the likes of Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Modric, etc. doing all the work?

Balon d'Or voting, like every other polling contest is largely influenced by the law of recency. Their last performance usually carry more weight than earlier ones. Ronaldo knows this and uses it to his advantage.

In 2013, fifa reopened voting for Balon d'Or after ronaldo scored a hattrick against Sweden, needless to say, ronaldo won it that year.

But he only does half the job compared to Messi. The great Leo Messi is a deep-lying playmaker creating and scoring goals for fun. CR7 on the other hand is a player who always hangs around the edges of the box and watch the play develops so he can finish. Hence, comparing the two player is a misnomer and blatantly unfair. That's my only beef shocked

O pari

tbaba1234:
That was a sensational goal. Messi's goals also get overhyped. If messi scored the kind of goal scored by MFM's Olatunbosun, we will not hear word.

Ronaldo has a claim to be the best player in the world. He is not as naturally gifted as Messi but he has worked very hard to get himself to that level. There are players who were more naturally gifted than Ronaldo but never reached his level. He deserves the accolades.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon79(m): 1:25pm On Apr 04, 2018
CR7 is definitely a great player. I just don't like the overhype. He's not the best player in the world, not even close. He's just a player who knows how to get himself in good position to finish other people's efforts. Leo Messi creates his own goals, Cristiano waits for others to do all the work so he can finish and take the credit. To compare those two, to me, is the biggest injustice in modern era.

Having said that, Juventus should be ashamed of themselves. Their defensive effort yesterday was appalling. I think they are scared of Real Madrid. It seems like they tend to forget how to play football once they see Real Madrid. I was ashamed of their game yesterday especially Dybala and Higuian who always goes missing on the big stageshocked

TheSuperNerd:
Lol.... You no go disappoint shaa. Hahahahahahahahaha.... This is CR7 doing it against a die-hard Juventus defence against one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time and in the world elite Uefa champions league... He even executed it from a staggering height of 7ft 7inches meters in the air. Come on!!!! C.Ronaldo and Messi are two gods in this era... And my goodness I draw super inspiration from their consistent shows year in year out at the top of the game. They have gone beyond world class and have shown that greatness is timeless. They have both maintained such insane levels of brilliance over the last decade and more... And last night belonged to one of them. C.Ronaldo himself.

Biko.... Rooney's, Giroud's bicycle kick goals do not even come close to the class and magnitude in which CR7 executed his. His also was from a height so "high" (2.23 m I think-- 7 ft 7inches in the air) in fact and you are aware his insane jump power and Air time.
Zlatan did his from 40 yards or so I think... But it was against a pathetic England side with above average Joe hart in goal... But we saw C.Ronaldo doing it against one of dreaded Defensive die-hard teams of Europe with arguably the greatest Goalkeeper of all time, Buffon.

Just give it up for him Icon79... Our young Super Eagles rising top talents should take keen inspiration from both Messi and CR7... Focusing on just one will make them and us miss out on the other side of intergalactic beauties present in each uniquely. They are not world class players... Calling them world class is now an insult. Others can take the tag of world class grade A+, world class grade A, near world class, high quality, top potential and so on.... But Messi and C.Ronaldo both belong in the same class as Pele and Maradona..... "The Intergalactic class" which is so far beyond world class.

The whole of the home fans in Turin stood up in admiration and admission of C.Ronaldo's class .... Never before have the Juventus fans been so shocked and humbled beyond words... Never before have they applauded a player who decimated them to shreds right on their home turf. This is die-hard Juventus... The old ladies of Europe having their fans salute immeasurably the god-like status of the man C.Ronaldo. Live with it!!!!!..... Messi and CR7 are Key parts of the major reasons why we still call football the beautiful game even today.

Buffon will go down in history as one of the very super best in world history between the sticks. And even he salutes the god-like beast in CR7....

That's the only thing I don't like about Cristiano Ronaldo - he's way too over hyped by the media and his handlers. He's a great player (or shall we say a great goal scorer) but no where near the best player in the world. He shouldn't even be included in that discussion at all.

The first goal was a tap in. The second goal was a bicycle kick scored from inside the 18 yard box. A great goal no question, but we've seen better. Nerdie, that was definitely a great goal. No question! Let's give credit to whom credit is due. But the best goal ever? Naaaah, not even close. I think it's ridiculous for people to even start voting on that, but I voted for Ibrahimovic wondrous goal.

And hopefully everyone took a look at each kick again in YouTube before voting. For me it was between Ibrahimovic and Masaluke, but I gave it to Ibrah for being that bit more remarkable - and the distance. Absolutely awesome! Cristiano scored from inside the 18 yard box just by connecting with a perfect peach of a pass ... to me, even an average player can finish that.

Rooney's goal was good too. And even Giroud had a great bicycle kick goal as well. And I liked Peter Crouch’s goal too.. bullet!! So enough of all these hype regarding what CR7 did .... we've seen better. The media just like to promote him to counteract the great Leo Messi. Ridiculous! angry sad shocked
