Dear All, I arrived Australia yesterday and wanted to quickly provide an update for people travelling after us. Historically, it is allowed to bring some Nigerian food stuffs (e.g garri, crayfish etc) as long as you declare them on the border form. However, the foodstuff requirement has been changed and resulted in most of our foodstuffs being confiscated. There were two other Nigerians on the same flight and they also had similar experience. Apparently, whilst the food stuffs are still acceptable, it must be those purchased from branded companies with proper branded sealed packs. For example, yam flour will be accepted if you bought "Ola-Ola" from a supermarket. However, if you made it yourself and pour into a sack and label it yam flour, it will be seized. So, all of you bringing food stuffs, it is better you buy branded ones from shop rite or spar...not that you buy grounded crayfish from the market and pour into ziplock (this will be seized). The custom officer confirmed that they used to accept the home packaged items before but the rules were changed during CoVid.

Other than the above, the landing experience was seamless and no question was asked or document checked, except to collect our passport and scan. Upon scanning, we were told to pass through to pick our bags. Make sure you fill the Australia Traveler Declaration Form and submit before you head to the airport in Nigeria as you will not be allowed to board from Nigeria unless you provide automatically generated response from Australia Home Office. Best

Thanks so much for this update. Congratulations on your relocation. All the best

In addition, some occupations now require you to have at least 3 years of work experience. They can identified with a tick (✔) under the 'Experience' column.

Thanks for the update. We're expecting more good news

Good morning guys, pls I would like to know how VISA fee payment can be made since the daily limit on Naira cards is now $100. Kindly help with the relevant info or steps to take to make this payment.

It's now $200. You can get a $US domiciliary account and pay using your dollar card.

Alternatively, you can people in Aussie or other countries to pay for you

Your names on the passport should match your NIN especially if you're doing it in Lagos and Abuja. It's either you retain your maiden or process a name change for your NIN. You'll pay some money via Remita and you'll go for capturing at an approved NIN enrollment centre like those at the Local Government offices

Foxie:
Good day my people,

Please I want to process my int'l passport. I'm yet to change to my husband's name officially, my name In my NIN card is my maiden name, can I use my husband's surname instead of my maiden name or they'd require me to use the same surname on my NIN Card? Thanks for your swift response.

Hi everyone, please is polio vaccination still mandatory for everyone for Australia visa?

I believe it is. Very recently at IOM, evidence of vaccination was requested. If you don't have, you'll be administered the vaccine. Mind you, this isn't free.

Ok then, cool.

donpaulo44:
Thanks. He finally sent a proof that the visa was actually lodged. 489 was in use the time the visa was lodged in August 2019. I think it was in November they replaced it with 491. However, they said they’ll attend to all pending 489 cases before scrapping it off entirely.

Travel / Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by ictmikky(m): 5:20pm On Aug 05, 2021
I think you should inform Home Affairs. 489 is no longer in use. You should have some proofs that he really lodged an application

donpaulo44:
I have a concern.

I'm using an immigration agent to process my visa (489) since 2019. Since the visa was lodged in August 2019, the application hasn't been looked into and I think it's been a long time since then. Hence I demanded for the login to my immi account and was told I can't have it as he's using a general account for all his clients. So I ask, is this a thing? I thought those accounts are unique to each applicant. So what happens if I need to make an update on the account when I'm done using the agents services

Cool.
I checked their website, nominations are for people currently resident in the district already.
Is there something I am not seeing?
I really need to see if I can get an offshore nomination.
The only district from my research offering nomination to people offshore is the Northern Territory but looks like it’s currently on hold.
I’ll really appreciate more insight.
Occupation: Valuer.
Thanks.

The guy is in Australia already. So he's an onshore applicant

There's hope as there are so many working with their ND in so many companies despite having higher qualifications. You'll be amazed what OND and C & G can do in oil companies. Keep the faith even while you try to upgrade

The goal is to get in, not how, when you get there, you can work at any level you are qualified to.
And also, level 2 occupation are less competitive as 0&1, unless you are sure of scoring 90+
Assess for role that closely matches your role, what is the purpose if you can't get a + assessment, then your mission is dead on arrival.
Leave the Naija mentality

You're very correct. Get in first, you can always get upgraded.

Hello All
I need clarification on the following;
Part of TRA pay evidences says 3 payslips and bank statements.

Am I to show 3 payslips from any 3months for each employer?

Also the bank statements didn't specify from what time to what time. Am I to show bank statements for each year of employment or just one bank statement per employer?

Kindly advise

Not for any employer but every work year claimed. You provide any 3 month payslips as well as bank statement per year.

You're not expected to send payslips and bank statements from Jan to Dec. You can pick them randomly just send for 3 months only per year. E.g. Jan to Mar or Feb, July and September, etc.
