adeniyi65: You are completely right on that. Lagos igr is humongous. The state is like prime Barcelona fc. Even if a toddler govern them, he will see enough to loot while we praise him on the stipends he use to build the state. But what would man do! Nigeria is irredeemable. Lagos state is actually poor considering the population and scope of responsibilities. States like Rivers and Delta with 5 million people or less and income of around N200 billion plus huge derivations are actually richer than Lagos, but always with nothing to show. You people focus too much on Lagos with your flawed understanding of Lagos, finances and responsibilities. Many of your States are collecting allocations and IGR with nothing to show and it doesn't concern you, it is only Lagos own that concerns you. |

You are too daft for me to discuss with. Is he the governor of Osun state You are beyond silly and mentally slow and redundant. What's Lagos got to do with Osun. All because you are not intelligent to follow simple Internet discussion. |

DeepsightX: You are a joker.
Dont worry, Tinubu brought all the banks and multinationals to Lagos. He built the airports and seaports and the 3rd mainland bridge. He built Ikoyi, Lekki, V.I. by himself. Also the Marina.
A country of two hundred million had a capital for almost a century and invested in it, and of course it is the centre of their economy. But no, Tinubu did it.
I cant cure your stupidity.
I asked you why he cant do same in Osun State, and you could not even understand the question.
Olodo. Why? Why must he do the same thing in Osun? Is he the governor of Osun or was he ever the governor of Osun State.? If you are going to ask questions, ask sensible, sane and rational questions. Abi is the topic about Osun state to start with? Are you in elementary School? |

Don't worry, I am sure it was the Lagos State Government that brought all the headquarters of banks and multinationals to Lagos through it's intelligent policies. It also built the airports, the sea ports, the third mainland bridge, etc. In fact all the businesses located in Lagos are because of the intelligence of the Lagos State Government. It has nothing to do with Lagos being the capital of Africa's largest market for so long.
All the infrastructure in Abuja also has nothing to do with Abuja being the capital.
Abuja is well built because of the intelligence of the Gwari people.
You are dense. So, na headquarters of banks and multinationals dey govern Lagos, they are even awarding and commissioning projects. Even sef, na Multinationals award and commissioned the blue and red rail line , Multinationals even came up with mono centric and policentric idea.. Comedian.. |

Economic Capital and former federal capital are running Lagos, they are coming up with all the bright ideas and solutions, they are awarding and commissioning projects, they don't have governors in Lagos State, they don't have agencies or parastatals, they don't even have workers, na only Economic Capital and former federal capital dey Alahusa calling the shots. Olodo. What's the point? That Lagos is Osun and Osun is Lagos state and they even share leadership so when we are talking about Lagos state, it means we are also taking about Osun state. We are talking about Lagos, but because you lack sane and rational views, you gyrated to Osun and Abuja. Are the leaders in Lagos also administering Osun and Abuja? DeepsightX: I am sure it is more important and strategic to the economy than the third mainland bridge or the air and sea ports.
You can only get that IGR becuase it is the economic capital.
Or is it the special intelligence of Lagos leaders that ensured that 99.9 per cent of all businesses in Nigeria are headquartered here?
If so, why cant they replicate that in Osun State for example?
I dont know why you guys always try to deny the simple fact that Lagos is Nigeria's economic capital and its nerve centre. Rather you try to claim it is what it is because of "bright minds."
Lol. This is so ridiculous and absurd. What's money gut to do with bright ideas, creative solutions and ingenuity? So having money means you're smart and intelligent? The fact that you have money or the former Capital doesn't mean you know how to collect the money properly and use the money judiciously or even if build the right infrastructures with it. Lagos was the former federal capital when it was generating only N500 million, it took a smart and intelligent leader to look for and instituted creative ways to generate more IGR than 32 states combined. Delta state with less than a quarter of the population of Lagos state generates huge IGR and deductions, but there's still nothing to show for all that money. Some states generates huge IGR and derivations, but instead of building worthwhile and productive projects, they are building mega churches and other rubbish, some are building convention centers with billions. Money or no money, former federal capital or not, leaders in Lagos state drew up there master plan to build free trade zones, to build metro rails, to build seaport, to lobby Dangote to build the largest single train refinery, fertilizer and petrochemical plants Lagos, these are products of human decisions, not money or the federal capital or whatever rubbish you guys come up with to justify incompetence in your own states with bad leadership. There's a video of Tinubu in China back in 2006 talking about Metro rail and free trade zone. Before the great wall of Lagos, VI, bar beach, homes and businesses used to get flooded and always under water, your federal government and federal Capital used to spend hundreds of billions to prevent flooding and beach errosion and to save VI from going under water, but your federal government, ports and economic Capital failed year after year until the smart and credible leadership under Tinubu came up with the best, smartest once and for all solution. No more flooding or any kind of flooding or threat, the VI is safe and sound. The leadership in Lagos started the first metro rail project in Nigeria under Jakande, but your FG and former federal capital and economic Capital stopped and derailed the project. Beats me why I have to explain these basic realities, but people like you are more interested in lame excuses that ports and former federal capital are responsible for the progress and development in Lagos as if they don't have leaders making decisions, coming up with bright ideas and solutions. Money or former Federal Capital cannot save you if you're not bright or intelligent. Abeg, elevate above these shallow reasonings. Money can not buy intelligence and competence and if that's the case, many states with huge resources and 5 million population should be a million miles ahead of Lagos. |

DeepsightX: It is ahead because it is Nigeria's economic capital and was its capital from 1914 till 1991, and was built by people from all over Nigeria mostly with my oil money. We are talking about the people running and administrating Lagos State, but you are here shouting capital. Is economic capital the one running Lagos or elected leaders making sensible decisions to keep Lagos ahead and functioning as intended? Was the Lekki Ikoyi bridge which remains the best bridge in Nigeria built in 1914 or 1999?. Was the Blue or the red rail built in 1914 or by the economic Capital or sensible leaders making the right decisions? What's the meaning of oil money sef..? Are all the states in Nigeria including yours not collecting oil money?or is it the fault of Lagos that your leaders have nothing to show for the oil money they collect on your behalf? Btw, did 1914 or economic Capital grew the IGR in Lagos from N500 million to N50 Billion per month or because of leadership decision and creativity? Lagos State is not managing itself or awarding and commissioning projects by itself, elected leaders are responsible, you cannot grow, progress and develop without serious leaders coming up with bright ideas and solutions . |

Politics › Sanwo-Olu Commissions Paediatric Sickle Cell Centre, LASUTH Ikeja (Pictures) by idealogical(op): 2:32am On Jun 08, 2024 |
I formally inaugurated the two-storey Paediatric Sickle Cell Centre located in the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
This purpose-built medical facility was generously donated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), under the leadership of Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
Prior to its redevelopment, the Centre was housed in a cramped bungalow that struggled to provide sufficient space for patient admissions and lacked the necessary facilities to cater to the needs of adolescent sickle cell patients.
Nigeria bears a heavy burden of sickle cell disease, accounting for approximately 30% of global cases. In Lagos, this disease is the leading cause of infant mortality, with a rising number of cases being reported.
LASUTH handles the largest number of sickle cell cases among healthcare facilities in Lagos.
The newly equipped Centre will enhance access to care for infant patients by providing more space for admissions, modern medical equipment for procedures, and testing capabilities to manage chronic conditions effectively.
This centre will offer comprehensive care including early diagnosis, advanced treatment, and continuous management for children living with sickle cell disease.
Additionally, it will serve as a center for research and education, promoting a deeper understanding of the disease and ultimately contributing to the reduction of infant mortality rates.

The Eko rail that Lagosians are now enjoying is one, Maternity Hospital in Ajah n other areas are another. If this is what you are talking about, the project started 22 years ago before Fahola, but Fashola left it at almost 90% completion. Yes, Ambode was a disaster, he abandoned nearly all his predecessor's projects including the Metro Rail. |

Also, those pictures are highly doctored... Go to Igando/Egan and see how terrible the place looks. They literally doctored those pictures to make the place appear nice. This is what Fashola commissioned in Igando, totally different, not the same thing.
