Ok I have someone that want to get me a work visa in Australia.... But I have my doubts..... If it's successful will my passport be taken away from me in arrival from the company? Secondly can I quit the so called job if it ain't conducive for me or if it takes most of time? Thirdly will I be subjected to slave treatment in the work making it hard for me to quit? So thats my worries....
All the work/tourist visas have names. Ask the person the subclass name of the visa he wants to apply for you.

With that, you can do your own research or come back to tell us here.

And yes, if your Australian visa is valid, you can verify it on Vevo website. Search for it.

Lastly, it might be better to go read the DIY Australian PR thread.

Greetings to the gurus in the house including anyone reading this.

My first degree is Chemical Engineering and my program I got enrollment (CoE) for is Masters of Engineering (Project Management). Can I use the Masters degree to get PR when am done studying? Thanks for ur anticipated answers.
It depends on what occupation you would be able to nominate at the end of your studies.

There is construction Project manager but vetasses requires one year post qualification experience.

So it's better to apply for PR now with your Chemical engineering. You can get a positive skills assessment with engineers Australia without work experience.

hello my people,

Please, i need some clarifications on the below issue;

During registration with centrelink, medicare, opening of bank accounts e.t.c. i want to believe that Aussie address details is usually required, does providing a temporary address (temporary 'cos i'm looking at getting a short stay apartment through airbnb while i hunt for accommodation) sufficient for this purpose? cos i will want to proceed for these registrations immediately i touch land sydney.

Please oga's in the house your responses is highly needed.
I haven't done centrelink or Medicare. But considering things like opening a bank account, registering your phone line, buying/transferring a car to your name, you may need proof of address, sometimes, which you can easily get from your airbnb host.

Keep track of everywhere you use that address as they would start sending mails to that house. When you get your own place, update all the addresses. And then keep in touch with your host so you can check for or ask if there are any mails for you. Your ATM card would have already been processed to the temporary address so you need to keep an eye out for things like that.

The bosses would comment on the other areas.

I guess he is the one who was asking about converting tourist visa to PR.

We really don't know. Lol. But if you have questions about student visa or skilled migration, he can go and ask on the respective threads.

Please I want to ask. If you are on 489 visa in NSW for example, can you apply to OR work at any place within that region or just the particular area you are?
Nsw is divided into different regions for the purpose of regional skilled migration.

Do you mean work at any location within the region that sponsored you? The answer is Yes. You are the one who decides what part of the region you want to settle down in.

Do you mean work in any part of regional Nsw outside the region that sponsored you? Technically speaking, yes. But then, you have a moral obligation to show up in the region that sponsored you, settle there and try to find work there. Before you think of expanding your search.

And then generally speaking to those considering 489 nomination especially from Nsw. You have to apply to the particular region you are interested in. Not just creating an eoi and selecting 489.

Hello all,

Please can any of out guru's explain the below highlight quote

221213 External Auditor Competent Plus English (or Proficient overall); Offshore applicants Provisional 489 visa only; 3 years' work experience in field; South Australian graduates must be currently working in their field in South Australia for the last 12 months; Not available for high points nomination 26/7/18; Not Available for chain migration nomination 26/7/18

Trying to apply as an external auditor under 489.
I am guessing this occupation is on SA supplementary list. Which means, there are additional requirements to get nominated.

There are 4 of them ~ SA international graduates, working in SA, high points and chain migration. Since they have blocked off 2 of them, it means you won't be nominated unless you are a SA graduate who is already working in that occupation.

please, help me answer my question. Am so worried please help me.

I am a university lecturer with 3years experience Nov 2014- till present. In the occupation nomination list, the only occupation relevant to my experience is Secondary School Teacher.
Note: I have Masters in Mass Communication and Postgraduate Diploma in Education.

Can I be accessed for Secondary School Teacher with my qualifications and experiences? Please I need help.
CC @Bellong

I thought what he needs to check is if his PGD in Education meets AITSL's requirements as regards supervised teaching practice, minimum 1 year duration and the appropriate English test score.

Do they also require experience now? It's been a while I read about it though.

Up to $200 on extra luggage? You would probably go home with a trolley full of food if you take that amount shopping at an African shop in any of the big cities.

Just like Bellong said. Costly or expensive is relative. Especially with the initial practice of converting Aud to Naira and Naira to Aud.

Even bread would appear expensive if you convert the cost to Naira. Lol

Thanks for the good work you are doing. God bless y'all
I've been trying to read through the entire thread to see if you have responded to similar concerns like what I have stated below but its not easy since the pages are a lot.
I'm just seeking enquiry on two simple issues :

I have received an offer to study Masters in international business at a Uni in Sydney. the school did not require any English test scores like ielts.
Will I still need to provide English test scores for my visa application if the school is not requiring it ?

also the starting date for the course is the 25th of July.
Am I too late to apply for a visa since I'm waiting for my sponsor to provide his bank statement which will take about 2 weeks.

thanks in advance.
On page 252, someone asked a similar question. Yeah, the school would give you a COE stating that you have satisfied the requirements of English but then, it's at the discretion of the case officer to ask for your English test scores or not. The time frame they give you may not be enough to book, write and get the results of English tests like Ielts and then CO contact asking for English test scores would further delay your application.

No one can really say if it's too late or not as it depends on the backlog of student visa applications. June/July is really busy for them so the earlier you submit your application, the better for you. You should also make your application decision ready. I would suggest you register and write any of the English tests. If there is a chance they would ask for a document, include it while submitting your application. Go through the document checklist and also check out the documents people who have gotten their grants submitted. Don't also forget to frontload your medicals. All the best!

good evening nairalanders. I'm new here. I am a nurse with 5 years experience. I've already applied to university of Newcastle to study MPH before I got to know of this forum. I've read a lot here concerning PR and SOL. The MPH is for a year. Can I apply for masters in nursing after my MPH for me to qualify for 2years post study visa. Also, what are the job opportunities that one can get in Newcastle. Thanks for your anticipated responses.
I would suggest you just apply for Master's of Nursing directly. There is really no need for the MPH.

Just confirm the Masters of Nursing from whatever Uni you choose would qualify you to register as a Nurse.

Masters of Nursing is 2 years so you can apply for your Post Study visa and have enough time to complete your RN process and wait for Nomination.

Pls is Charles Darwin University a regional university? thanks
The whole of Northern Territory is listed as regional or low population growth metropolitan areas. As far as the campus you are studying is in NT, you should be able to claim studying in a regional area, if that's what you are after.

The places that other guy mentioned are regional areas in Victoria.

With Naija licence, depending on the state after passing driving test, you get full local driver's licence without conditions.

Starting fresh, this is the process across the states

Learner's permit... You will be on it for at least 6 months before you do a test ...

When you pass the test, you get a provisional driver's licence (P1), you will be on this for 12 months.

After the 12 months, you move to P2 for another 12 months before you do a final test to get full licence.
This is correct. But not forgetting all the hours you have to do in the 6 months before being able to sit your practical test.

In WA, after passing your practical test, you would have to wait for about 6 months before getting your red P while doing more hours. I am not sure it's like that in other states.

Yes you are right. The deal I got serviced my car very cheap but then printed a report of $1,200 shocked. They said that my timing belt was due for replacement. I bought the car for $4,500 and want to use $1,200 to change timing belt? I pick race my guy
Most of the mechanics say timing belt is due for replacement every 100,000 kms. The reading as at the last time it was replaced is usually written on the timing belt cover. However, most people dont do it and just keep driving the car like that. Although $1200 is a bit on the high side especially considering how much you bought it.

For Team Qld, this is Agnes Water. Small, neat and quiet town (or village sef) with a permanent population of less than 2000 people.

Lots of tourists as its a beautiful holiday destination. Its about 480km north of Brisbane.

If you use vodafone network, please take along telstra sim when visiting as there is no vodafone network there.

I have been wanting to ask this, for some of us that went to other states with no families or friends around how did you sort out your first accommodation wahala upon arrival? someone said flatmate.com.au i tried searching haven't seen any soul that wants families let alone with 3 children and airbnb cost per night is shocked shocked expensive

How can one handle this kind of situation? is it possible to get accommodation within 3 weeks of arrival?

Thank you.
For a single individual, its pretty easy as you can easily find backpackers or something similar and chill there for 3 - 5 days while you find a flatshare or houseshare but for families, it might be a bit harder.

From my experience, in a 'big city' like Perth, you would find lots of ads (private rental) on gumtree. In the regional cities or towns, they use more of facebook groups. So you need to search on facebook for the name of the city plus things like rental properties or rent homes and rooms. Join the groups and comment or inbox posts you are interested in. Some people also post rent properties ads on 'buy, sell and swap' groups. Most of these posts are usually found on facebook marketplace but not all of them.

You can also search budget hotels or motels in these cities. The daily rates are usually expensive but some of them (especially the owner operated) are usually willing to negotiate a weekly or long stay rate. These budget hotels or motels usually have ensuite rooms that can sleep 3 - 6 people. There may or may not be a shared kitchen.

If you manage to get a reasonably priced 1 or 2 weeks temp accommodation, you can then use that time to inspect rental properties. And it would make sense to focus on furnished units. Realestate.com.au is a good place to search for those rental properties.

please guys in WA. Which of these areas have the cheapest and very good housing; Joondalup, Midland or Leederville.

By very good I mean size and neatness

thanks
Leederville is the closest to the Cbd so it may be more expensive.

Joondalup is a nice area but traffic on the freeway to the city and from the city at peak times could be challenging when you have to drive.

The good thing is, they all have train stations so public transport wouldn't be an issue.

So it basically depends on if you want to live close to the Cbd or not.

Honestly I think Perth suburbs are a lot "cleaner" than Melbourne's lipsrsealed
You and our other ogas and madam's living in Perth have refused to represent. Lol. And then, we wonder why all the new immigrants from the other thread are all going to Melbourne or 'worst case', Sydney. Non of them considering Brisbane or Perth. Haba!

I saw somewhere you said you lived in Kalgoorlie. Any pictures from there? Once upon a time, I tried looking at pictures of Kalgoorlie on Google Street View because I was curious as I had never left Perth to any part of regional WA.

I later went to Bunbury and Busseltton and I was very impressed.

We also need Sujydee to come and share his experience in his part of Regional Nsw.
