from Calabar, find a bus heading to Onitcha, in Onitcha, pick a bike to head bridge, there are parks there you will find buses leaving for Ilorin, pls leave Calabar early 5-6am is advisable, if you leave by 6am you shd arrive Onitcha by 11am, if you eventually leave Onitcha by 12noon, you shd be in Ilorin by 6-7pm. or I will advise if you have place to stay in lagos. go to lagos, then come to Ilorin the next day to reduce the stress.

your explanation sounds like what some CDS group do, maybe they just used the head count to get your attention to come help clean up, meanwhile that's the main reason you are given 19800.

from my experience, in states where there is no state alawi, state capital is not the best to stay, neighboring LG is preferable. except you have other sources of income

Having gone through 99% of posts, i observe that most of the focus is on the oil/gas industry (seismics, Petrophysics etc) but with little on near surface opportunities (Near surface seismics, geotechnical services, pollution investigation etc). I would suggest that while searching for the bug pay, if you have the opportunity of landing a job or internship with indigenous companies that are into near surface geology/geophysics, grab it. Your experience will start counting from there.

I am a postgrad student of geophysics herein Naija but my 1st degree is in physics. I have coursemates who are into geotechnical services and are doing VERY WELL. Talking of petrel, well, i have 2009 and am willing to give anybody free of charge. It's 4 yrs old but you can still do your learning on it. If you can also download the free version of OpendTect, good for you.

I guess the right answer is no it is not allowed, but
you can arrange with your PPA or LGI

let me start by stating that teaching is not paramount any longer, meaning your chances of being posted to firms, agencies, and govt establishments are high - these set of PPA will need your complete loyalty hence chances of working elsewhere are slim. in either case if posted to school, private will require your loyalty too except the principal is indifferent, then you can negotiate with him, so he could sign your clearance letter for the month implying that you were always at your duty post which you will submit to your LGI without which no alawi that month. my friend in lagos pays 7k monthly to the principal to get his monthly clearance. of course the new job pays way higher, if govt school, it still depends on the principal except its in rural areas where they may not be serious. thanks

MissIndependent: For those that will be serving in Lagos, better try and be in camp early to conclude your registration i hope you all know that Fashola only pay the first 600 Corpers. I dont know the criteria for that sha but it maybe the first 600 to conclude registration or those posted to schools or rural areas. i stand to be corrected though.

sometimes you maybe among the 1st - 600. but will not be paid, my friend told me some pals paid up to 20k to get their names included, meaning some peoples names would be removed. no hope for lagos state alawi, pray to get posted to good PPA that would provide accommodation and still pay well, or also lookin for extra jobs, there are lots of firms there.
