Politics / Amaechi Moves To Stall Probing Of His Administration by idugbe(m): 1:40am On Jul 05, 2013
Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Rotimi Amaechi, has initiated moves aimed at preventing the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from probing the performance of his administration in the past six years.

The Governor’s ounsel, Adedayo Adedipe (SAN), has, therefore, approached a Port Harcourt High Court, seeking to restrain the Felix Obuah-led PDP executive in the state from carrying out any form of investigation on his cabinet.

The court is presided over by Justice Godspower Chiji Aguma.

Amaechi is also praying the court for a preservative order based on the application for preliminary objection filed by counsel to the defendants for parties to maintain the status quo.

Amaechi was believed to have taken the legal action following the setting up of a committee to probe some elected officials of the Rivers State Government by the Obuah-led executive council of the ruling party.

When the matter came up on Thursday, Justice Aguma ruled that all parties to the suit should maintain the status quo, pending the determination of a motion for preliminary objection filed by counsel to the defendants.

He held that whenever there is an issue of jurisdiction in a matter, the court must decide on it before taking any other decision, and that none of the parties has right to take any action that will affect the rest.

The judge said although the parties have raised issues of jurisdiction, the court cannot pretend that the issue of res has not been raised, and later adjourned the matter to July 30 to rule on the issue of jurisdiction.

Plaintiffs in the suit include Amaechi, his commissioners, Senator Magnus Abe, all local government chairmen in Rivers State, and the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The defendants on the other hand include the PDP, Timothy Nsirim, Felix Obuah and Ibibia Walter.

Counsel to the defendants in their motions for preliminary objection had challenged the jurisdiction of the court when the matter came up yesterday.

In his submissions, counsel to PDP, Sammy Somiary, argued that there was no application on interim injunction by the plaintiffs before the court and that, therefore, the order for restraining the respondents from carrying out any action should not be given.

Somiary argued that based on the doctrine of prejudice his clients would not carry out any action that will affect the res.

He, therefore, prayed the court to abide by the constitution of the court.

Also, counsel to second and third defendants, Dike Udenna, told the court that whenever the issue of jurisdiction has been raised in a matter, the court cannot take any decision until it has been decided.

Udenna averred that fundamental issues of jurisdiction are not matters for the rules of court, maintaining that no court of law can determine how or when the issue of jurisdiction can be raised in a matter.

He also argued that the issue of preservative order cannot be divorced from that of jurisdiction and prayed the court not to make any pronouncement pending the determination of motion on jurisdiction.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the court session, counsel to Amaechi, Adedipe, hailed the ruling, saying it was necessary for the administration of justice, both for the defendants and the claimants in the matter.

He stated that if the court does not protect citizens, society would be heading back to the days of jungle justice.

Politics / Re: Govs Decry Harassment Of Gov Amaechi By The Presidency by idugbe(m): 1:59pm On May 09, 2013
I wonder who is harassing who! Amaechi should understand that even if he is the God ordained next president of Nigeria, he has to wait for his oga's tenure to end. David was ordained in the Bible but waited for God to remove Saul before laying claim to the throne. Amaechi's presidential ambition is making him to lose focus in his state.
He should repent, go and settle with his president and go and queue up. Life na turn by turn and as long as Nigeria is concerned for NOW, GEJ is the commander in chief of 'all' forces but physical. Spiritual and metaphysical forces in Nigeria. If not, 'this is just the beginning of sorrows'
Religion / Re: Pastor Adeboye: A Jet is Necessary For God's Work by idugbe(m): 9:16pm On Apr 13, 2013
"Despite presiding over churches with hundreds of thousands of poor people, they have all argued that they need the private jets for God’s work."

Even if Baba Adeboye, Oyedepo and Ayo all decide to sell their jets and they give the money to the poor in their congregations, it will NEVER stop the poor from being poor because poverty is a thing of the mind.
Secondly, when one of the women who Christ ministered to, 'wasted' a costly perfume on Jesus, people like Judas complained but even Jesus rebuked him that we would never be in short supply of poor people on earth.
If the man decides to ride on a horse all over the world to minister the gospel, na people like una go first talk. Baba carry go! Let them talk!!!

Wake up man cos the world has moved! I live in portharcourt and can tell you that with the resources at Amaechi's disposal, he should have done better. Last election I voted and mobilized others to vote for GEJ and am regretting it everyday. This time around, no more sentiments. A man who cannot provide good roads but spends borrowed money on a 'failed' mono-rail project that leads to nowhere is not fit to rule this country!

Hmmmmmm! What a sad irony that Osaze who was celebrated as the most patriotic Eagle of his time just a few years ago is now being rubbished by the same people who sang his praise the loudest. This guy is having a hard time now and instead of trying to see how we can help him get back to his game, some people will go to any length to further implicate him by amplifying his least mistake. Today is his day but very soon, your turn go soon reach.

Romance / Re: How Do You Know Your Partner Is The Right One For You? by idugbe(m): 12:49pm On Nov 29, 2012
There is no special way to know, other than the same way you choose your career, a business venture and so on. For a christian, you cannot start hearing from God with the issue of a life partner when you have not been hearing from Him in other issues like evangelism, loving others etc. You have to first develop a relationship of speaking and hearing from God.
One does not sharpen his sword in the war front, he does that even before the battle starts, so start a relationship with God first.

Religion / Can Someone Be Born Again, Yet Not Be Rapturable? by idugbe(m): 9:27am On Oct 22, 2012
This thought has been bothering my mind for sometime now, especially since I heard the confession of a man who claimed to have had a revelation of Heaven and hell.
Can someone who is born again still not be qualified for the rapture? Does the scripture support this?
Religion / Re: Can A Good Atheist Make Heaven? by idugbe(m): 1:59pm On Oct 18, 2012
NO!!!
Making heaven is not a function of 'GOOD WORKS' but it is a function of being righteous and living right. Righteousness is having a right standing with God by believing and accepting Christ's sacrifice on the cross.....you may also want to ask : Can the devil be forgiven if he decides to repent?

Praise songs tell people of what God has done for you while worship songs directly praise, adore and appreciate God for what He has done for you. It is not about the rhythm, tempo or beat, it is in the words.

Religion / Re: Is It Sinful To Wear Trousers As A Christian Lady? by idugbe(m): 12:30pm On Oct 07, 2012
Dresses and clothes are related to cultures even in Biblical times. The Bible admonishes us to be moderate in all we do. When I was serving in IMO State so many years ago, we decided that anytime we were going on evangelism, our sisters will not wear their 'Ajuwaya' trousers but skirts b'cos we understood that the people were very religious and will not listen to a trouser wearing lady preacher. We knew that it was not wrong to wear them but so that we could preach to them, we had to 'appear' like them.
The guiding principle should be this: Whatever you'll wear and it will make it impossible to represent Christ, dont wear!

Romance / Re: Help! I'm Above 30 And Under Pressure To Get Married by idugbe(m): 1:34pm On Jan 17, 2011
First of all, you must know that singleness is not a sickness, it's only a phase of life, secondly, there is no age restriction or limit for this stage of one's life. Also, you should know that it is better not to marry than to marry the wrong person. Finally, it is not in the place of a lady to find a husband, according to the scriptures, it is a lady's place to be found, so arm yourself with these truths and relax.
people will put you under pressure, but the question is 'are you under pressure?' Do you really want to settle down now? If yes, then there are a few things you can do.
1. Be busy: get involved in your job, career, biz, etc
2. Be involved in charity work, show someone love not because you want to be paid back, but becaus you really care.
3. Be useful in your local assembly, God is a rewarder (Heb 11:6)
4. Be steadfast in your prayers (Matt 7:7-cool
5. Be yourself, love yourself, love your life and continue to radiate love. It will come back to you!
6. Wait, watch and wait!
