Like i will always say, marriage is not for folks that are not prepared. And by being prepared, mental preparedness is very important. My brother..if i read correctly, you mentioned you are "abroad", so advising you should be very easy. First, find a way to engage a professional Architect. There are many on this forum doing very fantastic things. No design is free. Engage an Architect. It's cheaper on the long run. But here's a free advise regarding making your own blocks, you can determine the strength of the blocks by your mix. The accepted standard i recall is 28 blocks to a bag of cement, i know most block manufacturers do between 35 and 40 blocks to a bag of cement.
