Arsenal needs variation in attack more than any other thing. Almost all the attackers in the team, inluding the injured, are ball to feet players. We need players who deserve and demand ball to space. Our offensive play is severely limited against teams that funnel into banks at the back with a dedicated defensive midfielder. When there's no space, ball to feet players become a luxury in particularly tight and choky games against teams whose game plan consists entirely of trying to score tru counter attacking or set pieces. They've been countless occasions this season where we did not get the optimum because our forward line is so lightweight and get badged off the ball with the ball at their feet. Walcott would have been a perfect person for this role but I have not seen enough of him to convince me he is ready yet with his first touch or his back to goal play which are essential for uptop but he sure can exploit spaces behind defences being the best ball to space Arsenal player. We must buy.

I don't reckon hammy can keep Fab away for up to three weeks. I think he'll be ready for Westham. Madam K still has her wand doesn't she? That explains the secrecy from Arsenal I think.

Small pitches are always a worry for Arsenal and Pompey have one just like West Ham. Don't need to play fancy, 1-0 will do for me

With a debilitating debt overhang and no money to buy players (success?) coupled with the side effects of drug abuse finally catching up on shriek, do we volunteer to sing nunc dimitis for these piss poor plonkers?

Boohoo the whimpering wimps whine as they wilt! We are Manchester United, indeed! Injuries done you in? Now thatz something for the bionic hombres that liter Manure. Never knew they could be injured. Now this is pacification for Everton in their injury woes, or Arsenal with the perennial accusation of being weaklings on account of injuries dating back three seasons and beyond. WestHam? Tottnumb? All are human afterall.
Maybe just before the rats that infest that OldTrashford morgue start jumping ship, we all offer a hand of fellowship to a sinking "giant". We give you Agent Silvestre to rescue y'all. Going by the leak in this ship, old whisky nose will gladly kiss his puckered behind. In your face Ronaldoless yawn inducers!!

It took RVP six matches to correctly interprete and implement the central striker role in d current formation, now see how well he did. I had always wanted Eddu to play thru the middle in back to back games to really acquaint him wiv the role in real match situs. Rvp, to me, is always an accident waiting, now we will reshape pending the magic of the placenta. Who will play today and how?.Arshavin, all things being equal, should have been rested for this game and a fresher nasri or Mozzart pushed forward on the left. Not anymore though. With the absence of RVP the only person,to me, who can make Eddu play is Arshavin so he must play. I dont have confirmation but i think Arsh and Rvp are not on the same page and if anything, we might witness the coronation of EddU as Arshs sidekick. Will I complain? No. Sunderland comes wiv a physical threat so instead of Mozzart on the right, I will go 4 Nasri. Fab4, Song, Ramsey completes my middle while at left back, I will allow the geriatric to earn his paycheck

I just have a few short words to say to Manchester United fans, players, staff and management this morning,
Tough tits.
Yes it should have been a penalty, yes you were wrongly flagged for offside at 0-0, yes the goal should have been disallowed for being offside - but it wasn't, and it was ALL against you and that's what makes it EVEN BETTER!
Let me remind you of a date - September 23rd 2007. Chelsea took on Manchester United at Old Trafford in Avram Grant's first game. After Mikel gets harshly sent off (but set the tone for subsequent red cards in the weeks that followed), Tevez scores three minutes into two minutes of first-half stoppage time which there was nas no justifiable reason to be added on. Then, at the end, Saha cons and scores from a penalty with the most outrageous swallow dive you'll ever see after a 'tackle' from Ben Haim - and if that wasn't bad enough - it happened outside the box as well. Final score, SCUMS 2, chelsea 0. United get 3 points and come the end of the season, United win the title - by two points.
Yesterday's victory was for any team that's rightly or wrongly felt a sense of injustice against Manchester United and their twelfth man in the last 15 years. That was for Oldham in the 1994 FA Cup Semi Final, that was for Middlesbrough and the numerous Ronaldo penalties that never should have been, that was for Newcastle when Solskjaer hacked down Robert Lee when clean through and then received a standing ovation, that was for Blackburn and the goal-kick that became a corner that became a Tevez goal, that was for Manchester City, Sheffield Wednesday and the numerous other victims of 'Fergie Time', that was for Tottenham and the Pedro Mendez half-way line goal that never was, ,That was for ARSENAL and the Rooney dive that led to a penalty and ended their 49-game unbeaten run,
Man Utd (and imagine me saying those two words like Paul Merson does) - take that defeat like we've all had to and try and take your boring Ronaldoless team to the top of the table again.

Everything. The way he cuts across the ball, the way he plays his one-twos, the way he runs, the way he controls it with the outside of his foot.

Good solid game through and through!. Impressed mightily with Arsharvin after his listless showing against Fulham. Fabrigas held the head of the magic wand and Dudu had the key. Rvp had a skate on and glided all through. What's better than watching these maestros play anyone? Goodish day!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by Ifedisky(m): 2:13pm On Sep 19, 2009
I think the differences here have shrunk to semantics. For like-to-like, I mean a player than can stand up like a battering ram upfront. Not really Ade-like. You notice what Drogba does for Chelsea? That! Not that I expect Chamakh to be an exact copy, but given his cost, he's as close as makes no difference.
How long do you reckon a player will hold the ball upfront to constitute good hold up play?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by Ifedisky(m): 1:35pm On Sep 19, 2009
Conjectures can have two spin offs and on Chamakh I elect to take the positive. Van persie, I agree is techniquewise a very good player, but He does not have the upper body strength to play a lonesome terrier upfront. He amasses a larger amount of assists because of his pearless link up play.Ade holds up play more than van persie and Only bendtner matches this. Ade's gone, can't he be replaced like- for-like? And to wave away chamakh with the cliché, "more is always better" is condescending, more dross better?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by Ifedisky(m): 12:47pm On Sep 19, 2009
^And who really is agonising mate? And chamakh as saviour? I never implied that. However though, we are in quest of perfection though none is. Given this, and the shape of Arsenal's tactical play, the cog is RVP. It's no science figuring that he's struggling in a 433. Arsenal might want to go route one sometimes in a game they cannot dominate. Who'll hold up play on punts and go for knockdowns? Methinks only Bentner can do this but he's not enough. We need backups for tactical variation and I dont see any whinning here. Chamakh offers variety and Arsenal need variety. Thatz wot the TOGO ape brings to the table and the replacement is needed even if we're scoring truckloads at the moment. Check ur amusement okay?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. In Wenger We Trust! by Ifedisky(m): 7:52am On Sep 19, 2009
Buying chamakh in January with the attendant benefits of the penny pinching appears lame to me. Until RVP convinces he can play alone uptop, then we need a REAL central striker for the later stages of EUFA. I'm no accountant, but qualification for the final rounds in Europe with itz " monetised gbalamu" and elimination should be calculated against the backdrop of what Chamakh can offer to the team. To me, lots.

^ He just showed why he can never really be a gunner, such mindless, unflinching, barbarism! and to the face too!!
Anyways, Rosicky's cameo yesterday shows the depth of the gunners offensive amoury. With Nasri still to come back and walcott, it is terrifying what this team can do going forward.
But wenger should quit baby sitting now. A good goalkeeper is a most at the window, RVP's best position must be determined. All in all, more positives than negatives.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. Yes We Can! by Ifedisky(m): 11:07am On Sep 13, 2009
The process of weaning a top footballer in most premiership teams preclude mental education. In Arsenal, it is inclusive. No wonder Adebayor was a misfit!. Yea, I know, 30 goals? another dimension to the word, FLUKE!!!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. Yes We Can! by Ifedisky(m): 8:35am On Sep 13, 2009
Beneath the veneer of every defeat, non so rending as this, the sheer potentials of Arsenal shine through. Questions abound. Can't Arsenal do without a better keeper? Better concentration? And finishing?. On the balance of play Arsenal can lick any team in the world but itz worrying that a team that has six shots on target scores four against Almunia. I am pained because we give other teams the ammo to hurt us. Van Persie, before his goal was having a horrid game yet Was not suppassed in anyway by an ADEEBAYOR whose only contribution, apart from his goal is a slalom through defence that was lost. Yet Adebayor RAPED Arsenal. Funny!. More than anything, his first half stamp on Fabrigas' foot and the deliberate kick on van persie justifiesl the shoo away from Arsenal. No player with such bile can function in a team properly and Ade just showed he has animosity yesterday. The dressing room is as important as the playing pitch and anybody with half intelligence will know you cannot keep a discontented player in the Team not least a malfunctioning DIMWIT like Ade. We lost but Ade did not beat us! Even Wenger made mistakes, removing two defensive midfielders is not the best he should have done as diaby that ultimately anchored is not an anchor.
We'll pick the pieces from here but Arsenal remains a BIG force to be reckoned with. Watch em.

I would not want to dwell on intangibles like big-game-mentality and suchlike but on the evidence of play against an embarrassingly flapping ManU, Arsenal should really hope for a beautiful season this. Asides the game against Liverpool and the final against Barca, I've never, in a long time seen ManU reel the way Arsenal made them. It's just one of those quirks that make footie such an interestn game that the vastly superior team had to lose. Some COMIC fellas would bandy data to portray Manure as having more shots at goal but one can lob balls at an opposition goalkeeper from the centr circle and all will be counted as shots on goal, no?Still that couldn't have worked the last defender talkless of a goalkeeper. That was all Manure presented against Arsenal, HUFF and PUFF, no creativity, no cutting edge! To all scummies that are not afflicted by the bliss that is DENIAL, BE VERY, VERY afraid, united aer not so united any more. Thanks Arsenal for confirming what Burnley exposed!!!

The pompousity, sometimes, on this thread is grating. I cannot imagine a rational man denigrating another's post just because "he doesnt know a corner kick!" As far as I know, its no law though, football is subjective so all you supercilious know-alls, where did you learn your bit? And why not try coaching if you know so much. Think Fab is confirmed injured so Ramsey should start. I know it'z not feasible but I'd really want to see Wilshere play. Van persie deserves a place on the bench as he's been pretty regular so should take a rest. I'd go with Eduardo up top flanked by Arshavin and Wilshere/Pinky in a loose 433 formation that can quickly morph to 451. Celtic will attack for sure so it remains to see if le'prof will make Arsenal play deep and counter using Diaby as the fulcrum or use Ramsey and reserve Diaby for the mouthy scummies. Whatever though, itz goin to be a good day for Le'arse.
