Surely our God is a consuming fire but the Son may prevent you from burning if you accept Him as your Saviour and Lord.

Let me break it down for you to understand. If you were to place a dried out leaf into the presence of fire you will realise that the fire would immediately consume the dried leaf in seconds if not minutes. Don't blame the fire because it is only behaving according to its nature. Even if the fire didn't want to devour the leaf it still wouldn't have mattered, it will still consume it because their natures are diametrically opposed one to another.

In the same way, God by His nature, is a consuming fire. He must consume anything and everything that opposes His nature. So when you put on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son, it is only then that He will prevent you from burning otherwise you will be consumed by the ever burning holiness of the King of Kings.

The program is indeed on hold. This our dispensation is called the dispensation of Grace, and it has an expiry date. When it closes, the Program will resume for the liberation of the Jews.
To understand this, the book of Romans from chapters 9 to 11 is helpful. Apostle Paul speaks expressly about this matter there.
This dispensation will expire with the Cutting off (Rapture) of the redeemed souls out of this world. The son of Pettibone (antichrist) will automatically step forward with a very plausible explanation as to why the disappearance happened, then start rolling out policies, favourable to all at first.
He will side with the Jews, by taking over the Temple cite from "his people" the Muslims, without any fuss on their side. The moslems will break down and take their Mosque out of there, because Jesus' prophecy about the Gentle entering and desecrating the Jewish Holy place, would have been fulfilled.
The Jews will be happy and feel triumphant, but not knowing the Antichrist' hidden agenda. They will rebuild their Temple and the daily sacrifices will resume.
The final part of Prophet Daniel's prophecy will be fulfill then. The antichrist will do the unimaginable, he will sacrifice a pig in that Great Temple, polluting and desecrating it, the Jews will revolt, at this point the second phase of the reign of the antichrist will Commence. The Jews will then discover why the Antichrist sided with them. The Antichrist will take over the Temple, built a throne there, sit on it and demand that the Jews worship as God. They will spit on him, just like they spat on Muhammed when he (Muhammed) demanded that the Jews accept him as their Holy prophet. This will spark up severe persecution of the Jews, just like it sparked up persecution of the Jews by Muhammed, which we still see today.
It will be at this point that the Jewish liberation program will click back to action. The Holy Spirit, who is in infact a gift to the Gentles, will return to the rightful promised people, Jews. The Seed of Abraham.
