PoliticsSignificant Meaning Of The Flag Sighted By The Side Of President Tinubu by ify2016(op): 8:38pm On Aug 04, 2024
While President Tinubu was addressing Nigerians earlier this morning, Nigeria flag and one other flag were sighted on both side of Mr President.

While many were debating on the rational behind such strange flag, few people were thinking that it belong to certain country in Europe.

However, out of curiosity i was given some unverified findings. That the flag is the Nigerian Armed Forces Flag which signifies that the President is the Commander - in - chief of the Armed Forces as well as President of Federal Republic of Nigeria🇳🇫🇳🇫🇳🇫

Please, what could be the meaning of the flag?

PoliticsBREAKING: Soyinka Criticises Tinubu's Address For Ignoring State’s Brutal Attack by ify2016(op): 2:14pm On Aug 04, 2024
Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka has said that President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide address on Sunday failed to address the attacks on #EndBadGovernance protesters by security agencies.

Soyinka made the observation in a statement on Sunday following Tinubu’s address to the nation.

The #EndBadGovernance protests continued on Sunday, marking their fourth day, as demonstrators voiced their frustrations over the country's deepening economic hardship, escalating poverty, and ineffective governance.

Soyinka said, “I set my alarm clock for this morning to ensure that I did not miss President Bola Tinubu’s impatiently awaited address to the nation on the current unrest across the nation.

“His outline of government’s remedial action since inception, aimed at warding off just such an outbreak, will undoubtedly receive expert and sustained attention both for effectiveness and in content analysis. My primary concern, quite predictably, is the continuing deterioration of the state’s seizure of protest management, an area in which the presidential address fell conspicuously short.

“Such short-changing of civic deserving, regrettably, goes to arm the security forces in the exercise of impunity and condemns the nation to a seemingly unbreakable cycle of resentment and reprisals.

“Live bullets as state response to civic protest – that becomes the core issue. Even tear gas remains questionable in most circumstances, certainly an abuse in situations of clearly peaceful protest. Hunger marches constitute a universal S.O.S, not peculiar to the Nigerian nation. They belong indeed in a class of their own, never mind the collateral claims emblazoned on posters.

“They serve as summons to governance that a breaking point has been reached and thus, a testing ground for governance awareness of public desperation. The tragic response to the ongoing hunger marches in parts of the nation, and for which notice was served, constitutes a retrogression that takes the nation even further back than the deadly culmination of the watershed ENDSARS protests.

“It evokes pre-independence – that is, colonial - acts of disdain, a passage that induced the late stage pioneer Hubert Ogunde’s folk opera BREAD AND BULLETS, earning that nationalist serial persecution and proscription by the colonial government.”

Soyinka noted that the “nation’s security agencies cannot pretend unawareness of alternative models for emulation, civilized advances in security intervention”.

He said, “Need we recall the nationwide 2022/23 editions of what is generally known as the YELLOW VEST movement in France? Perhaps it is time to make such scenarios compulsory viewing in policing curriculum. In all of the coverage that I watched, I did not catch one single instance of a gun leveled at protesters, much less fired at them even during direct physical confrontations.

“The serving of bullets where bread is pleaded is ominous retrogression, and we know what that eventually proves – a prelude to far more desperate upheavals, not excluding revolutions.

The time is long overdue, surely, to abandon, permanently, the anachronistic resort to lethal means by the security agencies of governance. No nation is so under-developed, materially impoverished, or simply internally insecure as to lack the will to set an example. All it takes is to recall its own history, then exercise the will to commence a lasting transformation, inserting a break in the chain of lethal responses against civic society.

“Today’s marchers may wish to consider adopting the key songs of Hubert Ogunde’s BREAD AND BULLETS, if only to inculcate a sense of shame in the continuing failure to transcend the lure of colonial inheritance where we all were at the receiving end. One way or the other, this vicious cycle must be broken.”

Politics“They Used Us Without Paying” – Hired ‘say No To Protest’ Demonstrators Lament by ify2016(op): 5:39pm On Jul 31, 2024
Several individuals hired to participate in a pro-government rally in Abuja have voiced their frustration after being left stranded without food, water, or payment.

The protestors, who were part of the “Say No To Protest” demonstration organized to counter the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protest, expressed their discontent in a viral video posted online.

According to the protesters, they were abandoned by the organizers after the rally.

“Tinubu said they should call us to give us support and that he doesn’t want protest. He said he would give us support.

“We are here very early in the morning, no food no water, the drivers were left stranded without being paid,” one demonstrator said.

“We are here, men, women, and children all abandoned. Nigeria has no president. We don’t have a leader,” one demonstrator said.

When asked if they would now join the nationwide protests scheduled to begin on August 1, the demonstrators confirmed they would participate. “Yes, we will join the protest,” they stated.

The pro-government rally at Eagles Square featured placards reading “Say No To Protest,” aiming to counter the planned nationwide protests criticizing the government’s handling of economic hardships.https://politicsnigeria.com/they-used-us-without-paying-hired-say-no-to-protest-demonstrators-lament-video/

PoliticsCatholic Bishops Warn Protesters, Security Operatives Against Violence by ify2016(op): 6:58pm On Jul 30, 2024
The Catholic Bishops of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province have said the upcoming nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest would not have gathered momentum if President Bola Tinubu had addressed the hardship in the country.

The bishops, who noted that Nigerians were currently facing economic hardship, hunger and insecurity, said it is the right of the people to show their grievances against the government peacefully.

“We strongly believe that if governments in Nigeria at all levels had responded more promptly and effectively to the groans and distress calls of the Nigerian people the current protest would not have gathered momentum.

Nigerians have cried out about dire hunger in the land, persistent insecurity, failed promises, dashed hopes, outrageous cost of living and governance, and ineffectiveness of the rule of law in curbing criminality among public officials not to talk of many public officers’ ineptitude with serious national issues,” the communiqué read.https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/catholic-bishops-warn-protesters-security-operatives-against-violence/%3famp

PoliticsElection Losers Sponsoring Nationwide Protest – Senate President Akpabio by ify2016(op): 7:34am On Jul 30, 2024
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has accused the candidates who lost out in the 2023 presidential election of sponsoring the planned nationwide protest.

He spoke on Monday at the State House, Abuja, after he witnessed President Bola Tinubu’s signing of the new minimum wage bill into law.

Some individuals & organisations in the country have planned a nationwide protest over the hardship occasioned by the economic policies of the Tinubu administration.

The senate president however, said those who lost the election thought they could use the protest to claim the mandate through the back door.

People who probably do not have their fortunes in the 2023 election are thinking they can come through the back door & that will amount to anarchy,” Mr Akpabio said.

He cautioned the intended protesters to ignore damaging properties. “Any destruction of any property will cost Nigeria money. We don’t have the money. Instead let’s put the money into developing you & developing your environs instead of going to rebuild”.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed police top brass to protect intending participants of the planned #EndBadGovernance protest slated for August 1 to 10, 2024.

This was contained in a letter by the IGP to the request of human rights lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa. Adegboruwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), had on July 26, 2024, written the IGP to provide police coverage for protesters. The senior lawyer had written the IGP on behalf of the Take It Back Movement, one of the groups planning the #EndBadGovernance protest in August.

The IGP, in his response letter dated July 29, 2024, directed senior police officers to attend to the request of the senior lawyer. Egbetokun’s response was signed by his Principal Staff Officer, CP Johnson Adenola.

The IGP also requested to have a meeting with Adegboruwa in Abuja on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, “to deliberate further” on his request.

PoliticsBOKO HARAM PLANNING TO INFILTRATE END BAD GOVERNANCE PROTEST - NPF by ify2016(op):
The police command in Yobe says the Boko Haram insurgents have planned to infiltrate the forthcoming protest in August.

The command’s spokesman, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday. He said intelligence received by the command indicated that foreign mercenaries were engaged to destr%y lives and property at the protest.

He therefore, called on would-be protesters to exercise caution. “As Yobe state recovers from insurgency, the commissioner of police, CP Garba Ahmed, acknowledges citizens’ constitutional rights to peaceful assembly.

“While we alert citizens to sinister motives, even peaceful protests at this time may be ill-timed. Recent insurgency activities in Gujba LGA have raised concerns.

We are unprepared to face additional security challenges,” he said and warned that criminals trying to hide under the protest to destabilise the state would face the wrath of the law. According to Mr Abdulkarim, the protesters must indicate proposed protest routes and assembly points for a hitch-free protest.https://gazettengr.com/boko-haram-planning-to-infiltrate-endbadgovernance-protest-police/

Protest: Let My Father Rule For 3 Years Before You Complain, Tinubu’s Daughter Warns Market Women

Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has told market women in Dosumu Market, Lagos, to warn their children not to join the August 1 protest against economic hardship under his father’s watch.

“Say no to protest,” Mrs Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Lagos, declared, posting a video in which she spoke with market women, urging them to warn their children not to join the August 1 protests.

In the video, Mrs Tinubu-Ojo said, “Let’s talk to our children. There is nothing like protest in Lagos. Lagos government is doing us well.

“The government at the centre (led by her father Mr Tinubu) just assumed office. Before you say a government is not doing well, let it last three years at least.”

Mrs Tinubu-Ojo lamented how EndSARS, a historic protest led by youth against years of extrajudicial killings and extortion by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police Force, turned violent, destroying properties when thugs attacked protesters and Nigerian soldiers opened fire on the demonstrators.

“Prevention is better than treatment. We will not suffer loss of lives. Let everyone warn her children,” Mrs Tinubu-Ojo warned.

The president’s daughter’s warning comes as another pro-Tinubu government pushback as citizens mobilise for nationwide demonstrations due to economic hardship worsened by soaring food prices.

Since the protest was announced, Mr Tinubu has met with leaders of religious groups, traditional rulers, governors, and security agencies.

After meeting with Mr Tinubu, religious leaders and monarchs joined in opposing the protests, while security agencies continued to arrest citizens supporting or organising such activities.

The Nigerian Army has reportedly dismissed 6 soldiers from its service for allegedly fleeing from the scene of a Boko Haram att@ck.

SaharaReporters reports that the soldiers attached to the counterinsurgency operation in the North-East, known as Operation Lafiya Dole were said to have fled from the scene of a Boko Haram att@ck around Damboa, a community in Borno during the month.

It was gathered that over 10 soldiers were k+lled during the att@ck. A military source who spoke to SaharaReporters said the 6 soldiers were dismissed for withdrawing from the w@r front.

The source described the puni$hment meted out on his colleagues as not right, arguing that they left the battlefield after running out of ammunition during the fi¥ht with the t£rrorists.

According to the source, sufficient arms & ammunition were not provided for them to fi¥ht Boko Haram t£rrorists; therefore, they soon ran out of ammunition. He also blamed the death of those k+lled on poor firepower & inadequate equipment to combat the insurgents.
