For accommodation, I recommend Grand view hotel.
Its right there at UTC, walking distance from the Accra Market and owned by a Nigeria. The room rates are pocket friendly too ie from 50 Ghc/night

I am travelling to Ghana for the first time to buy some goods and I want to go buy roads. I want to know which transport company is good, the location and cost and if the bus will be able to carry my goods back to lagos and the best market for second hand shoes and bags. Also recommend for me low cost guest houses to stay. Will stay in Accra
If its your first time and you are going for business NEVER enter a car from Mile 2. Go to Yaba and join Efex, Cross country or Chisco.

When returning with goods your best bet is Young shall grow . Their office is at Caprice. You pay for your goods alongside your bus fares so you wont have to worry about customs etc as they do the settlement. Don't use small cars at Tudu too. You would be OYO at each border to settle and if it gets bad, the driver will offload you and your goods and move on. Tudu routes are for people that are well conversant with the route, have the whole time in the world, people with no luggage and folks that know people within border controls.

OP when you return, please update me on the prices of goods there, including Ghana wrappers and gold.
Wrappers?Yes. Gold? By all means not now.
The strict government policies on mining has made gold business a no-go area now especially for Non-Ghanaians.

Thanks @ askari. The number is indeed genuine. I just wanted to be sure they will not be thinking why land line was not used.
My concern with land line is if the company secretary/receptionist happens not to be in the office to receive call from the Embassy.
I need assurance from people who have used mobile number as employer's contact.
Guys out there pls tell me your experience..plzzzzzzzz
I'd advise you use the landline, more credible. They rarely call employers and if they do want to call, I'm sure they'd call during official work hours.

However, for the permits, are we supposed to pay for them?
or they are free?
The Permits are not free . Is Nigerian residence permit free here for foreigners?

I think is a middle class suburb and it be cheaper for me as I don't have much money.
Please can I book accommodation from Nigeria?
Youpougon, Abobo , Adjame and co are NOT middle class suburb. More of traders, club girls, bus drivers etc there. It's also home of marquis(beer parlour) , LovePeddler houses, bus station etc.

abbey1986:
Hello, all the gurus in the house.pls I need your advice,i was refused UK visa today.i applied for a visit visa to spend my annual leave from work in UK.am on a monthly salary of 63,799 and married with a kid,my mum invited me who's a UK citizen alongside my lil brother, she sent me all document and also an invitation letter staying she will pay for my flight tickets, accomodation and other expense.so I submitted letter of offer letter and confirmation from work, bank statement, tax payment slip and also my pension statement.
In filling my form cost of flight to UK from my sponsor was £800 from my mom.
Cost of expense to the trip from my own wallet was put at £200.
I was surprised when I receive the refusal letter 2day.
I felt so bad cos I think my application was refuse for no genuine reasons cos his reasons are not authentic.
The reason are that I earn 63,799 a monthly and he's afraid I will be back after my preside 1 month stay in the uk.
He also said he was you stated that you are married with a kid, however you have provided no evidence of your personal circumstance in nigeria? Pls I don't understand Dis reason cos I provided my son's birth certificate, all his school fee receipt right since he started school till date,my house rent receipt for 3yrs till date, utility bill, tenancy agreement with my landlord when I rented d apartment.
Last I stated 150k from savings from relatives and pension and I also include my 2yrs pension statement of account showing the balance accumulative and monthly deduction and my statement of account shows the narration of a token amount of 19k I contribute to a micro finance bank monthly and collect it by December and money from relative is my dad but in cash of 7K monthly and they said I didn't provide proof to back all dis up.i was not given right to appeal so I want to re-apply next month cos I felt cheated after presenting all required document...please kindly advice me on what you believe caused the reason for refusal.
Though I have been refused sometimes in 2012 before and I stated it in my application and reason cos they I just finish nysc and they said I was in employed and I would not come back now am employed they still saying he's afraid about my financial status which I don't understand...please help me out.
Thanks
I remember advising you not to apply until you get a better job or your salary increases but nay, You went ahead to dash them free kpof kpof money.
Truth remains, until you salary/income increases significantly, you're simply dashing them free money.

Travel › Re: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by ifyalways(f):
@Topic, I lived and worked a bit in Abidjan so heres my piece :

WORK : If you don't speak, write and understand perfect French, forget about corporate jobs.

BUSINESS: Buying and selling works. Clothes, beauty products, household articles, food items are all hotcakes. the market is mostly controlled by Lebanese, Turkish and Nigerians. Mauritanians and Nigeriens are into mini marts(what we know as stores/small supermarket) . Laundry and bars/Pubs is also another nice biz. Ivorians love their drink, food and women. Restaurants and food kisoks is also profitable but neatness and presentation is a MUST else na you go chop your food.

SCHOOL: Don't be deceived, English schools are expensive but worth it. Lots of private Unis especially in Cocody area that teach in English.

ACCOMMODATION : For luxury look at Bietry, Riveria, Plauteu, Cocody and Deux Plateu area. For middle class look at Marcory remblais, Trechville, Kumasi, Vridi, France Amerique. Abobo, Youpougon etc areas are for the lowest income earners. However, security, amenities are basically same regardless of which part of the town you stay. utility bills are strictly per as you use meaning each individual has his/her own meters . Light bill comes out and is paid once in 3 months, water every 2 months and its very affordable. Constant light and water is guaranteed and you dare NOT owe for utility. To rent a house, You need to have a maximum of your 3 months rent paid upfront and one month as caution ,total 4 months rent payable upfront. You wanna pay more? at your discretion.
Unfurnished S/C in Luxury areas goes from 60,000 cefa per month, middle class starts from 30,000 cefas while in places like Abobo, you'd get from 15,000 cefa per month. Luxury furnished apartments start from 100,000 cefa per month.

DOCUMENTATION: Besides your international passport, each individual , citizens and foreigners alike are expected to have two identity cards. Very important and more important than your passport sef. First is the identity card from the Nigerian Embassy then the identity card from Police which also doubles as residence permit. To obtain both are easy and quite straightforward : Go to 9ja embassy, fill out some forms plus your passport photo, your id card is issued withing 2 weeks tops. Armed with the id card, go to any police station close to your house and apply for residence permit. very easy.
Without both documents, be ready to be bribing your way out of every police check point (mille Franc) and blimey you can get as much as 10 checkpoints in a 10KM trip, most wont even take bribe but would take you to the police station where you would be made to go farm for free for the Government for 24 hours.

FOOD,SOCIAL LIFE : Food is cheap, beer expensive. LOL their women love 9ja men and are quite charming. If you are single, chances are you might end up marrying them.

What else? . . .

It's good to do good and help others but it's best to do background checks BEFORE you do. Don't be carried away by online stories no matter how emotional it sounds.

My problem with people like you is that you guys indirectly enable, encourage scammers. They keep coming back cos they know someone like you would fall for their cheap sob story. We can never be rid of them if we continue this way.
