If I may ask, what is the difference in the pronunciation of 'ihu' (to see) and 'ighu' (to roast)?

Not butting in to your argument but there is a difference in pronuonciation of the two words ie ihu(face) and ighu( to roast)

ihu on pronounciation, has one stress on i but ighu(to roast) is stressed on both i and ghu and with a pause in between.
