Family › Re: Live-In Maids Vs Non-Live-In HouseKeepers: Which Is Preferable? by ifyalways(f): 6:41am On Aug 31, 2012
Kobo, perhaps we also need to consider the take home pay of a 6-6 professional here with that of the counterparts in the western world because surely that would affect their bargaining power?

Btw, the 15 or 17K per month is for live-in helps who are also fed, accomodated by their employers. If placed side by side with the so called minimum wage earner who would still bear the food, transportation etc burden then its a fair deal.

Just saying. . .
Family › Re: He Is Divorcing His Wife. by ifyalways(f):
Something is wrong with the "adults" on this section.

OP asked for tips on how to manage his kids after divorce, people are offering decent advises and guess what? They suddenly are the ones that put the divorce idea in the op's head. They are even called names? Says a lot about us.

What if divorce is the only viable solution now for the OP?he should stay in the marriage till he kills his wife someday?or vice versa. We should save our sermons till when its needed and focus on the thread.

@OP, goodluck on whatever decisions you take! Its your life, you'll be the one to live and deal with the consequences of your actions.
Family › Re: Live-In Maids Vs Non-Live-In HouseKeepers: Which Is Preferable? by ifyalways(f): 4:55pm On Aug 30, 2012
@kobo, the live in helps here in lekki earn between 12 to 17K. The agents take the first months pay or it could be split and paid over 3 months or so but they must collect a full months pay from the help.

@topic, I have an undergraduate help. Doesn't live with me, works 2pm to 6pm Monday to Fridays , 9am to midday Saturdays and takes home a decent pay.

She's happy, I'm happy, my kids are well catered for.
Family › Re: Dealing With A Child's Destructive Behaviour? by ifyalways(f): 4:17pm On Aug 30, 2012
See theories !

How is a child scatterting or dismantling his or her toys "destructive" ? What really has the child destroyed?

You lot need to spend more time with kids! Is it possible for a boy of 4 to 6 years to play with his truck, aeroplane or whatever else toy for 1 week without he getting bored with it? When he's had enough of the toy what next? He gets inquisitive and would want to explore by scattering or dismantling the toy. Even girl childs get tired of their "baby" dolls, that's why they try braiding the hair, pulling out and fixing back the components. Etc

Does the said child destroy his school books, eat his pencils or eraser?now, that's a destructive child!

Culture › Re: My Big, Fat Nigerian Wedding: Inside Lagos Bridal Boom - CNN by ifyalways(f): 3:20pm On Aug 30, 2012
Erhm a little correction. Parents of the couple don't pay the wedding bills in the "whole" part of Nigeria, atleast not in Igbo land. Its the responsibility of the groom and his people. Ofcourse, the bride and her people can support if they have and are willing to do so.

Chief Negro, welcome back to this side of nld. Lol

Eshu? The stories I heard about eshu (elegba) are :
He's the gatekeeper btw the realms of man and the gods. Jesus according to the bible qualifies for same role.

He's the god or Orisha of tricks, sexuality and deciet.

In everyday life and from personal observation, eshu is associated with evil, ill luck etc.

I fail to see the connecting dots btw both. Ok aside both entities acting as a "bridge" btw a bigger God and man .

Toys? !!! And here was I thinking he's destroyed all gadgets in the house?

Woman please, stop cursing your child and creating problems where none exists.
