^This is a tough one.The woman should decide what's best for her,to leave the man cos he is not customarily married to her or to stay back and enjoy her marriage.I'm curious still, which kind of relationship does the man and wife's people have, cordial?Seem's he's just pissed with "bride price" aspect,is it that it's expensive and/or ridiculous or he's just playing stubborn? Are they facing any other marital challenge/crisis?.

They are already somewhat married. They don't need to throw a big trad. wedding.Just get the man's parent's,or 1 or 2 immediate family members to visit the wife's family with drinks, kola, pay the bride price(which should not be much considering the circumstances now) and everyone is good to go.Btwn, any special reason for the man's refusal to go for the trad. marriage, finance or ?

@OP,no.its not wrong for a grown girl to wear anklets or 5 ear/nose rings, her body, her biz. It's also not wrong for mama to voice her displeasure, her opinion, her right, her house. The question here is;what is ur friends opinion? Is he comfortable with the girl, rings and all?

@OP,Quit wasting ur time polishing Obi's dead image. That guy is a F-A-I-L-U-R-E.Just last week,I was in Anambra and giving him benefit of doubt(which he does not deserve)went round secondary schools in search of his very first published feat:school computers and modern pit latrines.I toured from Ado girls,QRC,St.charles,DMGS,ihiala special science,st.monica's Ogbunike to Uli girls, neither of the 2 so called projects was existing.Where are the computers and pit latrines huh Anambarian's just can't wait for the end of his tenure and blimey, there's going to be a huge celebration when that day comes.Obi ndi mmuo!

Depends on the ages of the people involved but on average 6 is ideal. However, some people get engaged early(btwn 18 and 21) for reasons best known to them and can be excused.

I've also heard that Imo bride price is the most expensive, not totaly true as i've witnessed a trad. Wedding there, twas just abt normal, nothing extraodinary. The "my place" i referred to is a town in "Anambra state" too so u see,no size fits all.True, the price and/or list are sometimes downright s.illy and makes no sense whatsoever. How can one justify "nepa bills" in a bridal list huh I think greed and poverty is the undelining factor. . .some girls see marriage as an escape, families see groom as a meal ticket/maga.

Family › Re: Guys, What Do You Consider To Be A Fair Dowry? by ifyalways(f): 9:35am On Jun 22, 2011
@Ibime,no one can honestly and correctly quote the bride price/list for a full state in Igboland, not to talk of the whole Igboland. It varies, even within communities and kindreds.Things are changing, families now decide what their bride price wud be,sometimes. The only source of the right quotation (In Igboland) is from the girl's father,QED.Btw,any specific reason for ur interest in Awka preciesly?Ujujoan na Awka babez . . .just asking.lolz
Family › Re: Guys, What Do You Consider To Be A Fair Dowry? by ifyalways(f): 9:19am On Jun 22, 2011
Let me quickly add this;Sometimes, grooms bring to the bride's family wayyyy,i mean like tripple of what is required of them for the bride price for reasons ranging from affection for the bride to just wanting to show off his wealth etc. Now,someone wud attend such a trad. wedding, see how much the groom willingly spent, then sit back in his/her chair to ignorantly conclude that the bride's family were unreasonable with their bride list/price.I've seen this happening, big boys spend willingly;its their day and money.ndi aguru go siddon instead of to chop the awuf food and drink, dem dey siddon dey do addition and subtraction for another pesin pocket.lolz

^Mr I-too-know,have u been to the whole of Igboland? There are no hidden charges whatsoever in my place and the 'bridal list' itself spans into 2 pages of petty things that can't cost more than 150K,give or take. . .my place, not what "you" think to be true for the whole of Igboland.
