Nairaland General › Re: Translation For Student Project by ifyalways(f): 3:26pm On Jul 27, 2011 |
FalkoFreib: Hi everyone,
My name is Falko, I'm a university studend from Freiburg, Germany. Currently I'm working on a sociolinguistic project on diasporic web forums. Nigerian ones are of course very interesting in that respect because of all its different languages. But that again is also my problem: I don't speak Pidgin nor Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo, so I'm a little bit lost here. Could anyone of you do me a great favour and help me translating some expressions for my term paper.
The expressions are: Iwe wegbuo gi nsogbu adiro Abeg Anumpam,Aturu Nsogbadiro! E JAWO NINU APON TI OYO ELO GBOMI ILA KANA SHINA TI DE o jebi ti won bi e ni
You would really help me a lot! Thanks in advance Permit me to laugh but what sort of student project that warrants the use of such language?Sounds more like market women research Im in a good mood so I'd help you a bit: Iwe wegbuo gi . . .You can go to hell. Nsogbu a diro . . .There is no problem. Abeg . . .a slang,Generally means 'please' but depending on the context twas used, the meaning can also be 'I'm bored'(with you, whatever you are saying) Anumpam . . .Useless soul Aturu . . .Sheep,Fool(as an insult) |

Chintua: If a woman does not want a man around her, she knows what to do. Story. . .story? S-T-O-R-Y! What does the man have to lose? Nothing. He has the best of both worlds. A wife and a concubine.
Single woman dating a married man=loser! Why waste her time? The only reason I would do such a thing is a last-ditch effort to 'carry belle' and be a single parent. . .aka looking for a 'spam-donor'! NOT to be second wife.
She does not need any advice. . . .make she siddon dia make married man take her dey relieve marital stress. She go soon grow grey bia-bia for nyansh dey do 'concubine'!
Shioooooooooor!!!

That's just about the only thing i think is special with Nri. |

2mch: The man is a child molester and has bought the mother. The mother is selfish and looking out for her own comfort by all means. Where is your father? If you dont have one, i am sure the boys in the house can stand up to the mother. Let your sister go to school. Besides, she does not like the man, that marriage will be equal to modern day slavery.
