Yeah I figured it was my grade sha, i think my project covers the required % of coursework. In this case what do you advise I do? another masters or pgd...I'm also tight on funds. Thanks for your input.
TOBERO23: I think it is not about IELTs score but your grade dont judge pls. The phd require a minimum of B looking at your grade 3.11 is C. Note your master must be research oriented covering 25% of your entire course work.
I know someone with 4.21 master grade but the master course is not up to 25% research oriented. That was the explanation given to him. Note he even get 2 publications. Yet no admission.
So grade and the mode of your master coursework play a big rolli in phd in new zealand from what I have seen.
Thank you once again for your input. Yes I understand, the school said if english is not your first language then one needs to write IELTS to prove english language proficiency hence my question on if english is our first language..
CalabarSamurai: Check the requirements of the school you are applying to - some require IELTS, some don't. If the school requires IELTS, you will write IELTS ACADEMIC and it is valid for 2 years from the date you get your result.
Thanks for your input. I did not secure any supervisor before applying, I was getting emails from them being occupied and not willing in to take in more students
Peaceful123: English is Nigeria official language and first language
Did you secure a supervisor before applying for the admission ? If yes, why not talk to your supervisor about the rejection
I applied for PhD at Auckland University and was not accepted. their reason was that I did not meet the eligibility requirement, I'm guessing it's because my msc GPA is low (3.11) however, I'm trying to apply to other schools. As a nigerian, we're choosing that English is not our first language right? Also, Is it mandatory to use an IELTS score that is recent? I wrote one in 2022(which is now expired) and it was for general not academic. would that suffice?
CalabarSamurai: IDP but they only focus on the student visa of the primary applicant, if you want to carry your family, best to look for a PAID LICENSED immigration adviser.
Thanks for your reply. I applied to a university already, also reached out to supervisors but only one of them replied saying he's no longer accepting supervision
CalabarSamurai: - Find a school. - Find a supervisor. - Research on their field(s) of interest. - Contact the supervisor. - Present the supervisor with your proposed PhD thesis or if you prefer to work on their subject area. - If they agree to supervise you then... - Contact the school to get their agents in Nigeria, if they have any, for the school application. - Contact the agent and they will take it off from there. - All the best.

Please say what you know. who told you that there things you never get to learn in catholic...I am a catholic and have learned so much in recent times..try and join societies in the church to get deeper understandings of many things.
Thank you.
alexvic12: She didn't disdain the Catholic Church. When you become born again, you'll discover that there are certain things that you may never get to learn about in the Catholic church; things that are essential to a deeper spiritual life. It's the truth. There is no honest catholic who listens to Apostle Selman, Orokpo, etc. and will not hunger for more.
I don't understand you, since when did one being a catholic mean one is not saved? I am a catholic, born again Christian and member of the catholic charismatic renewal of nigeria so what is your point exactly. You claim in your words " you got saved" yet you didn't know that you were supposed to pray to God for direction while choosing a life partner. you are clearly deceiving yourself by pausing (according to you) in matters that concern him. you are the problem not him, go and work on yourself and your "supposed born aganism".
mugnmuffin: Dear Nairalanders, I have an issue that has been on my mind for weeks now. My fiancé and I have been dating for over three years. I love him and he loves me too. We are physically attracted to each other. We’re both catholic but since I graduated, during my service year I gave my life to Christ, got saved and left the Catholic Church. So I’ve been a Pentecostal Christian since then. He on the other hand is still catholic. I subtly try to nudge him to consider getting saved, i.e acknowledging Christ as lord and savior and becoming born again but he is content with his laidback Christian life.
Earlier this year, he asked to meet my parents and I let him. My parents like him especially because my younger sis is married and they have been waiting for me too. They’re glad I’ve someone. However, after the introduction,I regret it. I’m now certain that he’s not the one. I think about my spiritual life and how lukewarm he is about the things of God, I think about kids and how we’ll raise the, with such differing views about God and I’m discouraged. I feel like I’m settling because he checks all the boxes on the checklist of physical attributes. Another mistake I made is, I didn’t pray about this decision and that worries me because anything that involves him,I just act with pausing to ask God, but I always ask God about other aspects of my life. So it’s like my associating with him is a minus for my spiritual life and that’s a huge cause for concern.
At this point, I want to tell my parents I am not convinced it’s him but I’m afraid of the disappointment this will cause. *sigh* I’ll appreciate your thoughts, comments, criticisms...
GeekfromLasgidi: Today while going through my Instagram, I saw a post that immediately inspired an idea about wriing an article that is bound to go viral.
This random article ideas usually come backand most times when I act on it, the result is always brilliant an over the years since I joined Nairaland, I've made posts that got to thefront page due to it's relevance seeral times I cant even count.
Now I've decided to take my wriing more seriously and since it'ss something I love to do, I have decided to also monetize it.
So here is the deal. I have decided to make an offer to bloggers who intend to make their blogs more popular with well reserched write ups that is bound to go viral.
This time, word count does'nnt really matter because you can decide to write 1000 words of gibberish that is totally irrelevant and uninteresting to tour readers and that will be a total waste of effort and funds. A mistake most bliggers make when they contract to freelance writers.
This time with my offer, you are getting something that is totally unique and inspired readers to follow or bookmark your blog and also at the same time be a point of reference to other blogs. Last bit not the least, when you post my stuff on Nairaland, you have 80% chance of making front page except if the super mods don't notice.
Thank you for your response.I logged into squadhelp to check the status of the unregistered domain names I submitted but I didn't see anything there again.. what does this mean?
tranxo: Unregistered does not just mean nobody has registered it before. It can also mean names that have been registered before, but have dropped/expired, and are available to be registered again from any registrar.
Once a name is available to be registered at different registrars, it is unregistered. When searching for names that are unregistered on expired domains .net, always tick the box that says Available. This will make sure all the names that come up in your search result are Available/Unregistered. You can also use Whois .com to check the status/availability of domain names.
I listed 2 unregistered domain names on squadhelp, I went to expireddomains to check if they are there and saw that one of the domain names is there though expired. please is it ok to still leave it on squadhelp as it's pending approval or I should cancel it and list another one?
