CelebritiesRe: Uzoamaka Aduba Wins Emmy For Role In "Buruji" Drama, Gives Inspirational Speech by igbo2011(m): 2:02am On Sep 22, 2015
I am looking at my timeline and people are so proud for ‪#‎ViolaDavis‬ ‪#‎UzoAduba‬ and ‪#‎ReginaKing‬ for winning Emmy's. I am not trying to hate this is good, they worked hard and deserve their acknowledgement but why do we always gain pride when we win awards by Europeans? We cannot be proud of ourselves for our own history or contributions to world history?
I see people say they are "inspired" "joyous" "happy" for this and people are saying ‪#‎blackgirlsrock‬ or I am proud to be black. So we can only be proud when other people give us validation? This goes to show how powerless we really are because we cannot be proud on our own. This isn't just for the Emmy's this is for the Oscar's Grammy's and other awards shows. I mean do white people come to BET or Nigerian entertainment awards and seek validations from Global Africans?
If you study the history of African/Black women such as Queen Hatshepstut, Queen Amine, Queen Idia, Yaa Asantewaa, Harriet Tubman, Madame CJ Walker, Mama Toya, Queen Nanny of the Maroons, Angela Davis, and other great women in Global African history, then we would not care about these awards.
When I read African history like Benin, Mali, Songhai, Nubia, Ancient Egypt (Kemet) Monomotopia, Luba, and other great African empires I am inspired. When I hear of the history of Africans in the diaspora such as African-Americans, Caribbeans, Afro-Brazilians, Africans in Europe, India and China I am inspired. We need to stop having Stockholm Syndrome. If you read your great history you won't need to be validated by other people because you will be proud of yourself.

AAinEqGuinea:
I agree to an extent... Obama is a puppet, as any politician is .

Consider the American voting bloc which elected Obama in 2008 and 2012:
-Liberal white women and general liberals (environmentalists)
-LGBT
-Moderates worried about American job creation and the middle class
-Families and supporters of immigrants (mostly Hispanic)

Obama has since signed legislation which supports each bloc, taking a leadership role on enforcing better pay for women, universal healthcare, tougher Environmental laws, greener energy (and killing the keystone pipeline), gay rights in the military and federal workers, created small refugee programs for children and immigration reform, helping to save the middle class with tougher regulations on Wall Street and auto industry bailout.. Obama can assume leadership on unprecedented domestic or foreign legislation and policy if he wanted to.

When it comes to Black people (African American, African, Caribbean) all he continues to deliver are pep talks only and has signed nothing to help them, while 97% (2008) and 93% (2012) of African Americans voted for Obama. Many African Americans live in the same amount of chaos. The only milestones Obama seems to deliver domestically, as he did in Kenya and lately with Buhari, are pep talks and gleeful dance and singing (showing off what little soul he has left).

It would not have sufficed if Obama gave mere pep talks to woman who earned marginally less than men when working the same job. Women who voted for Obama would not have accepted a pep talk, "you women should just work even harder and not complain". This voting bloc of women wanted what they voted for. Obama knows of the many facets of racial discrimination in America which is foreign to many Africans just as much as many African Americans are unaware of how this same government is screwing over the land where they would be (western African) if it weren't for slavery and human trafficking.

My suggestion is that in the end Blacks should use them for whatever you can get out of them, which is impossible if your generation has endued you with inferiority as is the case with many global Black leaders and majority within the black populace.
This is the truth to why men earn more. It isn't sexism.
