My personal lesson from the injuries sustained in the Oando debacle is " Never again will I buy into a promise. I will only buy based on facts and figures.

It was that that illusion of a promise that kept me in the stock despite all the facts saying I should exit. Thank God I received sense December last year and I sold.

No more emotional attachment to any stock.
Still regret some emotional decisions I've made with stocktrading.

Jumping two feet first into Julius Berger, just because I believed Fashola and Buhari had promised massive road infrastructure. After two years and over 30% loss, I only recently got out.
A simple glance at their financials would have told me that the company is deeply in debt. 2017 Q1 and Q2 was a total mess.

You can always have a glance at basic TA parameters - (ROE, ROI etc)

stock with new 52 week lows

Mobil #165.11k
I can't understand why Mobil is tanking the way it is.

Apr 2017 - The SP was 385 naira; barely six months later it is now at 165 naira. Yet, nothing major has happened to the company. The new owners, who bought 60% equity, don't seem to be doing too badly. or are they? The last result was not a great deviation from the industry average. It has always been a solid company with excellent corp. gov.

My best guess is that the new management/ some big fish is trying to mop up stock and is doing the initial dump so reduce SP.

The thing taya me.

Hi Teddy, there is this girl I met in 2015 at my brother's house. We were so close then and usually liked being around me. I got acquainted with her then boyfriend and we all got rolling together. Fast forward to 2016 after I've gone home and come back, the boyfriend told me that they have broken up. I tried to see if I could reconcile them both to no avail. I later went back to school and early this year when I met her again when I went on weekend I proposed to her. By then her then bf has travelled out of the state. She declined at first and later agreed. But on getting back to school, I sent her Val's wishes of which she responded "thanks love". I proposed her coming over for us to celebrate it. She agreed but later refused picking up my call when the agreed time reached. I later went back for weekend to ascertain her probs, but she told me that she does not want to engage in relationship now untill she gains admission. After long failed persuasion I let her be. Two weeks ago I called her to my room and brought up the topic of which she still maintained her stance. Upon wanting to leave she hugged me telling me that when She will be ready for relationship that I would know.
She never called me since we met but we do chat normally online.
What do I do, should I bone the girl?
You're in the friend zone. That, in itself, is not a bad thing because you can't be bf to every girl you meet. However, any chance of becoming a bae is now slim. She already knows you like her. You've over-invested and are no longer a prize(except your papa is Dangote).

She does not have to invest anything again (e.g taking your calls, initiating calls, visiting you e.t.c) because she has already attained you.
You are now Option B while she scouts around for Option A.

Just let the girl be. Get out of her orbit and stop this your 'Brother Mulika' behaviour. Also, get some options for yourself. She's not the only fish in the sea

ayodele234:
The honest truth about America is that 64% of Americans can't even come up with $400 in an emergency. I am talking about first class citizens. Even an annual salary of $100,000 these days is nothing in America. I always laugh when most Nigerians living in America boast that they earn more than a banker in Nigeria doing menial jobs. But the banker here is already in his second building while most of them will still be paying rent for at least 15yrs before they will even be able to raise money for a 20% down payment on a condo house. Poverty is defined by where you live and not by converting currencies. If there is any place Nigerians are finding it tough it is in the US.
How many bankers in Nigeria below Director-level have two buildings? Bank branch managers will jump at legal status in US/UK. Those who buy/build big houses only do so because they can get loans at special rates.

The only reasonable reply so far.
You only accept what seems to back up this your untrue tale.

Nobody gave your bros/cousin 'personal driver'. Even the CEO of Uber, a multi-billion dollar company, still drives himself or takes a cab.

All these half-truths give false hope to unsuspecting people and headache to the discerning

This year makes it ten years that you have been married to her,why did it take you this long?

You just realised she is not intelligent and cannot compose a good text message after ten years right?

Anyways, your wife is the type that is contented with being a full time housewife, you cant force her to be what she doesnt want to be,you just need to work harder and harsher so you can have more to spend on your family.

African men love to be the breadwinner and the Lord of the house so keep bearing it.
After allowing this comment to simmer for three days, it remains a very foolish comment.

May end up a bit like buying a winter jacket in Lagos and taking it over there...not sure you'll get something that's warm enough...probably best to save money and buy in Canada, to make sure you get stuff that really works. Search online and compare pricing at Canadian retailers (e.g., Walmart, etc).
Thank you.

Seen some for about 50CAD. Will buy it over there.

I don't know why everybody is jumping on stagger's head.

If you don't like his rates, then don't apply.
The writing market is a free market, nobody forces anybody to do anything. If he doesn't get any offer at his rates, then market economics will force him to increase his offer. Not everybody sees it as slave labour. I once got an offer to write 2000 words for 1500 naira; I simply rejected the offer and somebody else took up the job with gratitude.

For all we know, some people have already snapped up his offer ( and they'll probably deliver quality work too)

Like I said before, this is a market. Whatever service you are offering, somebody will offer it at a lower price! Don't hype yourself unnecessarily.

Absolutely! It's a complete rip off! This seat is no different from the ussual first class seat. He will get the same food wine and service with every one else on the flight, believe me i know.

some times the airliner may even move ( upgrade) perssengers with economy seats to these seats just to fill the seats if not fully ocuppied. So no point paying that much.
this is not true

Kudos to everyone here. I started a snail farm in nigeria before i left. I entrusted it to my younger ones. They could even keep all the profit. Its unfortunate that they are probably all dead by now.

Ive always wanted to restart it after i bought 10 frozen snails from europe at an african store here in Canada. After enjoying them with oha soup in fact Our snails are 1000x better in size and texture.

Now op what do you think of a green house approach to snail farming? With an irrigation system inside to ensure the soil is always moist?
Maybe you can go to a snail farm over there and see how they run their business

just got d right thread to ask for help

so there's this girl I met in church, we always stare at each other in church till I got d courage to ask for her no. But anytime I call her, our call doesn't last more than 2mins and she has travelled out if town for now and I'd be leaving for schl very soon too. Any help on how to make this girl mine
Since you've already opened. She may or may not be interested in you. You have to find out. You may be staring at her thinking she likes you but she's staring at you wondering "Why is this dude staring at me?"

Your best bet is to make a move.

Tell her to hangout with you. Tell her, don't ask for permission
Set a definite time and place.
She may decline but if she's interested in you, she'll reschedule or find a way to hang out with you later.
If she simply says No, then you should forget her.
