Today was just like any other day. Nothing about it suggested a deviation from the normal. Perhaps I already took for granted the grace to leave my home and return peacefully without any hassles. I had not been reflecting on that massive favor from the Almighty. I was returning home from Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos where I had gone to do something very early this morning when the Police stopped the public bus I was in at Otedola Bridge, Lagos, and told me to alight. You might ask how my dress was and whether it was flashy. No, it was not. I was clothed in a green Jalabiyyah with a cap. They asked, "Where are you coming from, and where are you going?". I answered, "I am coming from Ikeja and going to Mowe, Ogun State". "What do you do? Where do you work? Give me your phone!!!" They all fired in succession, leaving no room for answers. "As calmly as possible, I answered, 'I am a Senior Frontend Engineer at ****.' "Senior Frontend Engineer", one of them imitated me mockingly. "You are a Yahoo Boy abi, a scammer, a thief, a fraudster", he continued. "Sir, I am not a fraudster. I work for my company as a programmer," I replied. He grinned, his face lit up. "Oya, where is your company located?" "It's not a Nigerian company, I work remotely from home. The company is situated in ****," I replied. As he asked those questions, another policeman was going through my phone. He was scurrying through my gallery and chats looking for any incriminating material frantically. The third policeman asked for my company ID card but I told him I had none because my company doesn't currently provide one. That was it, they pounced on that immediately and were all seething angrily. "You be yahoo boy jare, you dey work for people wey you never see and no even get ID card, we go carry you go station now now". "What did I do?" I asked, my voice beginning to tremble at the thought of going to their station, NOT because I had committed any crime but because I knew how messy the system was, based on what we had all heard. This is a system that lacks due process and greatly excels at punishing the innocent. While this was going on, my Uncle's call came in. He wanted to ask where I was and if I was already done with what I went to do in Ikeja. I begged them to let me pick up the call after which I told him what was happening. He spoke with them and told me to show them my letter of employment as proof since I do not have a work ID. I proceeded to redownload that on my phone from my email and showed them. I thought that would be enough but alas, it wasn't! I was escorted to their vehicle and forced to sit in a corner while they held their guns as if they were preparing to shoot me. I was told to call my Uncle that the issue had been resolved and was on my way home. I called and told him but that was a lie since I had no choice and was under duress. The Policeman sitting next to me then asked me if I could pay them 500,000 naira to be freed. I told them I didn't have up to that. They proceeded to ask about what I studied in school, my area of residence, and other personal info. My Uncle kept calling but I was unable to pick up the phone. After some time, the most senior one among them told me I was going to pay them 20,000 naira to be freed. I agreed since I just wanted to be out of there at that moment. After agreeing to pay, I offered to transfer the amount but they declined. They started the vehicle and started driving towards Berger. When we got to the Pedestrian Bridge at Berger, they beckoned a random POS operator to come. I was instructed to transfer the money to her and given cash in return. After handing the cash to them, they dropped me at the New Garage bus stop at Berger, Lagos. As I alighted, they watched me board the bus to Mowe before setting off. This was such a scary experience and I still can't stop thinking of how things could have gotten much worse. Most of the similar horror stories we hear about people's encounters with the Police started this same way. This was a route I was familiar with and a city I was accustomed to. The Nigerian Police Institution needs solid reform. |
It has been a disastrous and woeful performance from him |
Gbadebo19:Fake account. No checkmark and it's Romano NOT Romanoz |
just2endowed:When will it be available? Can you mention me when it is eventually available? |
just2endowed:How much is it so that I can plan in advance for when it's available |
just2endowed:I just joined the thread. Which romoss powerbank do you have that can give me some extra juice on my MacBook Pro like 50%, fast charge my phone and also power my MTN hynet flex router. Can you give me some options |
IgOga:Can you share the link to the judgement or file. I have been looking for it but yet to find it. Besides, if that was really the case, would it have been included as part of the petition again? |
Daviestunech:Wow, I have seen the movie in 3D and would like to watch it again but I haven't had the time. This dubbed version seems manageable. Could you please share the torrent link. |
When is the registration starting OP? |
DropsMic:And you think of yourself as an "enlightened black man" simply because you swallow all you are told by the "white man" hook, line and sinker because you think he has no agenda and can't lie. Stop being so myopic and reason. Be skeptical and logical. So you expect me to believe those footprints were left by a dinosaur that roamed 230 million years ago?.. Lmao. What are the hard facts? Why do those prints always belong to a dinosaur? Can't those prints be there as a result of some other factors? |
These people lie so much. I do not even get their obsession with dinosaurs |
Kubernetes:I still use the MTN hynet flex. I don't know anything about the port forwarding issue you are encountering. I am sorry that I won't be able to help |
@Bignuell and @Feranmhine, the battery has significantly improved. Another way to improve and maximize the battery life is to totally disable the wi-fi signal if you don't need it to connect to a wide array of devices and connect through a Lan Cable. |
whisp3r:Alright. Thank you so much |
whisp3r:Wow. Thank you so much. Which would you advise me to disable between the 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz? The 5.0Ghz has a shorter range and is said to have the more powerful and faster signal. Moreover, I can only see the hide SSID option and can't see the disable option |
whisp3r:I already went for Mtn hynet router. The battery is poor but that's not really a problem for me. The data is also so expensive. I should have just gone for their ordinary mifi. Thanks anyways. I really appreciate your response |
I am a very heavy data user and consume data in the region of 70GB - 100GB of data per month. In the past, I used to subscribe to the MTN Pulse binge data bundle of 2GB for 2 days. 3 months ago after I got a new smartphone and inserted my airtel sim card, Airtel sent me a message telling me that I am eligible for a 100% data bonus for three months if I purchase data plans within the price range of 500 to 4000 naira. Since then, I have always been doing the 3000 naira for 20GB (10GB main data and 10GB bonus) and I usually do this like 5 times a month. Now, the offer has elapsed and I am at crossroads as to the best data plan available on either MTN or Airtel because they are the best in my location. Spectranet and Smile are out of it as I am either in Lagos, Abeokuta, or Ibadan, and not one of those service providers has coverage not to talk of excellent coverage in those three areas. On checking the router plans between Airtel and MTN, I am at a crossroads on the best to go for between the two because they offer competitive prices but MTN slightly has the advantage because it includes a 100% bonus for 3 months on purchase of their Hynet Flex Router. Who has used any of the two and what can you say about it? Any advice for me? Thank you. |

I have a relative that has Bsc.Ed. in Health Education from Ekiti State University and wants to proceed to study Nursing in any reputable university in Nigeria. Is it possible for her to use her Health Education degree to get admitted to study Nursing and start from 200/300 level? Or does she need to sit afresh for JAMB examination to get admitted to study Nursing and start at 100 level? Thank you. |
Live Stream link please |
calmnquiet:Yes, people are waiting for November 3rd. I only hope more people research and look beyond the lies of the leftist Mainstream Media (CNN, MSNBC, CBC, BBC) and research facts for themselves. There is nothing that Trump does that isn't evil in their eyes |
Esseite:Don't mind these people. Most of those just listen to what the Democrats and leftist Mainstream Media tell them. They don't research facts for themselves. He is a better president than Obama. Watch how he floors Joe Biden in November because majority of Americans see beyond this game of identity politics being played by the Left. |
ThreeBlackBird:Your method of address speaks volumes about who you really are. You don't know me and shouldn't say anything about me at all. I won't engage in words with you |
This is so disturbing. I keep asking myself if it's a curse to be a citizen of this country? How can you say that? What happened to the billions that were donated? If you can't cater for 2000 people, what then can you do? They should be ashamed of saying that. There was a country |

Hello everyone, is there any cheap tariff rate or subscription to call a Ghanaian phone number? MTN and Airtel rates are incredibly high. 1000 naira worth of airtime rarely lasts for 7 minutes. Thank you |
Hello here. Does anyone know how much it costs to replace a Sony Vaio laptop keyboard in Computer Village. Thank you. Attached is the picture of the laptop
