DeLaRue: I'm not sure if this was done along ethnic lines, but if you look closely, there are a couple of Igbo names (former UBA guy, and a couple others). But as with most things in Nigeria, the Igbos have been quietly shifted to the periphery either by design (I doubt), or just by the socio-political reality of the country (more likely).

It never pays to make too much noise in Nigeria. Even if an Igbo man was given a knife and asked to share the electricity cake, even he would have found it difficult to give anything to an Igbo-owned company in the North or Southwest. You see Abdusalami cornered Ibadan, but Yorubas would not bat an eye lid over that. It's business. But if he had been an Igbo man, there would be some disquiet, because of fear (irrational) of long term industrial sabotage and the likelihood that in a few years time, the Igbo guy would announce to the world that he brought electricity to Ibadan. I guess it is fair to say Igbos would be up in arms if the Enugu disco was awarded to a Yoruba-owned company. Country is messed up, I tell yah!

Another reason is that, when all is said and done, and the noise from all quarters are put aside, I suspect the big money in Nigeria is actually in the hands of the Hausas. The Yorubas - even if they don't have the raw cash, they have the quiet deal-making capacity to put something together. The Igbos - should have several individuals who can raise these sought of money, but they are generally not the best at putting together a sophisticated deal involving multi-parties - they are simply too individualistic.

As for the Ijaws, some of whom I understand are absolutely swimming in money right now, I think there are probably too few of them with the 'capacity' to handle a business of this complexity. Coming into sudden money and having a credible business pedigree to handle stuffs like these are two different things.

It is one ethnic group per 'group of delegates'. Clanish representation is not allowed. So all dysfunctional ethnic groups need to start working hard so that we don't have an Ijebu as different from Yoruba, an Ikwerre as different from Igbo, or a Nembe as different from Ijaw.

Donmams: I have often wondered why GEJ cannot hide his hatred for the north. He is openly pursuing an agenda to emasculate the north and her people through deliberate gov't action and policy. These are some of the things GEJ has done to show just how much he hates the north.

1. He diverted money budgeted for dredging the River Niger to the Niger Delta immediately he was confirmed Acting President in 2010.

2. He claimed after the 2011 election that the millions of votes he garnered in the north were cast by the Igbos! Haba!

3. He is deliberately allowing the BH crisis in the north to fester in order to aid his rigging plans in 2015. Doesn't seem to care that many northerners are losing their lives on a daily basis.

4. In conjunction with lt. Gen. Ihejirika, has been waging a subtle campaign of terror in northern villages. The unexplained massacres going on sporadically in the north is being carried out by young Igbo commandos of the Nigerian Army to kill as many northern Muslims as possible. Of course with GEJ's tacit approval.

5. Over the past two years, thousands of cattle have been stolen from the North and moved to the South in order to start the breeding of cattle in anticipation of the break up of the country.

6. GEJ sanctioned the deliberate cleansing of all northern military officers from leadership positions in all military formations across the country.

7. GEJ has sidelined the north in terms of federal appointments and ministerial positions. All key ministries in the country are in the hands of southerners.

8. GEJ has stopped international flights from landing in Kano, prefering to give landing rights to Enugu instead.

The question is what is GEJ'S endgame? Does he intend to breakaway from the country in 2015 if he doesn't win reelection? Why is GEJ implementing a deliberate policy of destroying the north socially, politically, militarily and economically?

Now, let's say that we form our own country in the East, and the West forms a country, and the North Forms a country, and the Middle belt forms a country, what exactly are you going to do with the South South? Remember the South South consists of more than 30 ethnic groups. My maternal home is Ikot Ekpene (Anang) and I've got Anang relatives that can't stand their Ibibio neighbors. Mind you that these neighbors are not even up to 20 minutes apart from each other in the same state of Akwa Ibom . Then an hour away from Ibibio (Uyo) is Ogoja Akamkpa in Cross River, and those two can't get along. Do I need to remind you of Okrika and Ikwere (who are Igbos by the way). Let's not even mention Delta that is surrounded by all kinds of ethnic groups. Delta state is more complicated because you've got a significant portion of the indigenes that are of Igbo extract that don't consider themselves Igbos. These folks speak Igbo as fluent as I do, bear Igbo names, and yet they claim they ain't Igbo. Then the most complicating aspect is that their Urhobo, Ijaw, Isoko, and Itsekiri states men will always deny them and remind them that they are Igbo. They are also crying about marginalization. This is why we might never see a Delta state governor from Delta Igbo. With all the black gold in that South South region, it would take a miracle to pull all the ethnic groups apart. It would just be a disaster. What groups are going to lay claims to the oil, and which ones are gonna let go off that oil? Then you can't just spin-off Igbo, Yoruba, Middle belt, and core Northern countries and leave the folks in the South South together, they will also want to be spun-off. Nwanne from your post above, you are presupposing that the groups in the South South would like to live harmoniously with one another. My point is that it would be a nightmare to pull Nigeria totally apart. There are waaay too many damn groups. It would take a miracle. But this much I know, cutting the Core North and Fulani off would be a much easier task.

These resentments you mentioned amongst SS people exists even within the so-called homogenous SW & SE, These resentment exists in the SS not because they hate each other but because of the pattern of assemblage into the respective states ie political inconvenience.

What this SNC tend to address is a scenerio where each of these ethnic groups (small or large) would be in their own STATE to manage whatever resource found therein and develope @ their own pace, while being part of their REGION (with a regional premier) which would function as the FEDERATING UNITS.

The Ijaw self-determination group, Ijaw Rebublican
Assembly (IRA) and their Igbo counterpart, the
Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign
State of Biafra (MASSOB) are set to clash as a
renewed war of nerves over the control of the rich
resources of the Niger Delta escalates.

The source of the escalating crisis between IRA
and MASSOB, is the alleged moves by the Igbo group
to annex part of the Niger Delta area into their
proposed sovereign state of Biafra.

The Ijaw group alleged in their general assembly
meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, at the
weekend that the Biafra flag is already being hoisted
in some Ijaw communities. For the IRA, the action
of MASSOB is seriously provocative.

The group spokesman, Ms Annkio Ourum-Briggs,
told anxious reporters at the meeting venue: [b] “We
wish to inform the Igbos that though we do not
begrudge them a right to aspire to statehood, we
seriously resent and find insulting the attempt at
including parts of the Niger Delta in a fictitious
nation without our consent”

“Not even an inch of our territory (Ijaw) would be
conceded to the expansionist dreams for the
statehood of Ndigbo as represented by MASSOB or
the Yoruba in quest of Odua republic”, she warned.

Later in an interview with Sunday Independent,
IRA’s Secretary-General, Mr. Charles Harry, said the
Ijaw people will protect and defend their patrimony
and heritage with the last drop of their blood,
pointing out, “any further encroachment and
disrespect of our territorial integrity would be
viewed the moral equivalent of war, and responded
to appropriately without notice”.

“The inclusion of Ijaw land in the Biafras is
unacceptable, the map including us is fraudulent
and must be withdrawn, flags misrepresenting our
aspirations must be removed from our land, and on
no account should any tribe or organization, by
whatever name, without our consent, do anything
or purport to do any thing as would denigrate or
retract from our sovereignty as an independent
people”, he warned. [/b]

According to the IRA, the ancestry of the Ijaw
people never surrendered their liberty; neither did
they ever bequeath their sovereignty to anyone. We
are not slaves and can never be enslaved. We shall
overcome, they said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chilos Godsent,
an Ikwerre and pan-Igbo activist, in a swift
reaction, said he believes that MASSOB would
respond appropriately to the challenge posed by the
ijaw group.

And up till today, No response!
