Ah! Lemme correct a false impression you are pushing with this language tree. This tree says nothing about the timeline between Igbo and Ijaw language. Ijaw branched out into a different language and Igbo has no root. It doesn't give a timestamp.
It could be that Ijaw is older than Igbo but the map doesn't say which one comes first.
Read this and be blessed with wisdom.

Hmmmm, Ijaw of yesterday is older than Igbo. There's nothing we can not see on nairaland. What is the overall population of the original Ijaw? Does Ijaw have one language? Substrate the population of Okirika, Kalabari, Opobo, Bonny, Andoni and Ndoki-igbo population scattered all over the Niger delta, what is the population of Ijaw as a tribe or better still what is the population of Bayelsa state which is the only known Ijaw land/state?

Stop deceiving yourself, Ijaw is a tribeless group.

What he typed is the Truth.
The original Izon stock is of same phenotypic features as Ghanaians.

A DNA test would establish link between Izon and Ghana and the European porters theory sounds rational.

Izon language has no Link whatsoever to the YEAII (Yoruba, Edo,Akoko,Igbo,Igala) and Cross River language cluster of the original inhabitants of Southern Nigeria.

Izon is an anomaly, an external intrusion. A Good DNA analysis of the original Izon would establish this theory.
Stupidity at its peak from an ignorance relishing fellow.

Find the location of your igbo language around benue-congo.

We are not your mates, Ijo language is far older than igbo language.

There are certain things that need not rocket science to decide. "Ahia Waebule" was established before 13th century and founder of Bonny was an Igbo man that moved from Ndoki to Bonny in 13th century. The recent attempts at distorting clear truth only makes the revisionists look stupid to the academic world.

Ijaw itself has been claimed by a Nairalander in earlier days to be porters that escorted white men to Benin around 14th century probably picked up from Ghana and taught how to sail canoes by the Portuguese. Logically writing the migratory pattern of most Ijaw groups points to Benin and typical Ijaw dressing is a canterfeit of Scott attire of old. If thourough investigation is done 80% of those called Ijaw today have DNA of Igbo, Edo or Ibibio. The pure Ijaws are very dark and also share phenotype with dark Ghanaian tribes.
You keep displaying more stupidity instead of showcasing wisdom at your old age.

Comprehension difficulties. Anytime Igbo comes up, it's like you people just lose your ability to actually understand what is being said.

The post never said Andoni is Igbo. The post said their language shares affinity with Igbo. Which is true: Andoni language is basically Ibibioid, with inputs from Igbo and Ijaw.

Kalabari became Ijaw very recently around late 20th century because of the Niger Delta reawakening. Any Kalabari who left Nigeria before 2000 will likely be surprised when you address him as Ijaw. In the former Rivers State comprising Bayelsa we all knew who was Ijaw and Kalabari wasn't until recently. It is better we accept the truth that there was a Unification of Riverine peoples under an umbrella with Ijaw chosen as the name not that all riverine peoples are the Ijaw. Andoni based on traditional history migrated from Cameroun and speak Crossriver language. They had contacts with Ibibios, Ogonis, Igbos and Ijaws but maintained their distinct identity. Suddenly people from Bayelsa and Delta State jumped the entire Rivers to go claim Akwaibom territory even beyond Andoni.
No one is interested in your stupidity...keep it to yourself.

Current Ijaw is but a new and expanding Franchise.
Little wonder a real Kalabari man who left Nigeria eons ago before Kalabari joined the franchise is struggling to accept the Franchise. He is obviously not politically in tune with his people back home. He is only maintaining the cultural stance, which is that Kalabari has always been an independent ethnic nationality from Izon. cool
Stop making a fool of yourself.

Ijaw is a Franchise. Anyone can be Ijaw, since there is nothing like Ijaw language. All they need do is send invitation to INC and IYC and they become Ijaw. Reminds me Mr Biggs Franchise of those days.
I heard they recently inaugurated INC chapter in Oron , after some misguided and hungry Oron Youths invited them.

Like I said, Ijaw is a Fraudulent Franchise that will collapse under the weight of falsehood holding it together soon or later.
You must be a very criminal element Pazienza just like your ancestrally disjointed Igbo fraudulent franchise. Oron chapter of IYC is a SPECIAL CHAPTER (just like Abuja and Lagos chapters) necessitated by the heavy presence of Andoni-Ijaws in that area, not because Oron are Ijaw. Oron may have close neighbourly ties with Andoni but they are not of Ijaw ancestry hence can not be Ijaws.

We are not like the your båstard franchise without ancestry formed by colonization and assimilation of territories of unsuspecting ethnic group by rabid migrant population.

You can not compare the ceremony in Oron which was attended by STRICTLY ANDONI/OBOLO-IJAW youths with the inauguration of NDOKI CHAPTER (not special chapter) which was attended by ALL NDOKI TRADITIONAL RULERS who stressed their Ijaw ancestry.

Like Ikwerre, Ndoki Ijaws have broken the stranglehold of your diabolic assimilation agenda of non-igbos territories into your fraudulent igbo franchise.

Very soon Igala, Ibibio and Idoma will be coming for their territories fraudulently claimed by igbos.

But unfortunately for the igbo revisionists, it has an Ijaw name because it was first inhabited and founded by Ijaw ancestors.

How Azumini Ndoki Celebrated Ikoro Festival With Pomp

The people of Azumini Ndoki kingdom in Abia State came out in their numbers with lavish attires celebrating the revered Ikoro festival.

It was the best of culture, cuisines, dance and glitz on March 2, 2020 in Abia State as the spectacular Ikoro Festival was celebrated in Azumini Ndoki kingdom, a community in Ukwa East Local Government Area. It was simply tradition at its best and the colourful displays say it all.

Ikoro Azumini is an event when the people of Azumini gather to thank God for fertility and bountiful harvest of the previous farming season as well as pray for a more bountiful yield in the coming farming season.

Azumini ancient kingdom also referred to as the Blue River City is an island with ancestral connections with the Ijaws of Ndoki stock.
Azumini is estimated to be over 200 years old. The people are said to be hospitable, accommodating and lavishly proud of their cultural heritage. They also love their language, their special kind of soup and other mouth-watering delicacies especially the ukazi soup, “Africa salad” and their free spiritism.

Over the years Ikoro Azumini festival has transformed into a colourful fiesta that attracts both foreign and local tourists. Asides that, Ikoro dances are considered exclusively for nobles and culture initiates. It is like the surugede, which is referred to as the dance of the spirit.

In the displays, tourists were thoroughly entertained by the display of the rich culture and free-spiritedness of the Ndoki people.

A common sight at the festival was the lavish attires worn by the people which are a great attraction. The women adorned their attires in the variants of “George” wrappers, beads and the men their bowler hats, walking stick among others interesting designs. They move around with dignity and pride savouring in the activities.

Lineage members, consanguineous relatives, cardinal kins, men, women, children, friends and visitors across different generations were present at the village square to mark this worthy occasion. Adorned in their cultural wrappers and choral ornaments, they danced their hearts out, showcasing their community and their heritage in elegant style. Truly, it was at events like this that the spirit of being Igbo, of being Nigerian, and of being African is truly recognised, cherished, appreciated and celebrated.

Azumini is stupendously rich with culture, which they have preserved from ages, though with a few modifications. It is instructive to note that the indigenous people of Azumini Ndoki are Ijaw by blood.

They have many prominent personalities like Ambassador Okey Emuchay, a former Nigeria envoy to South Africa, Dr Chika Emuchay, a former Commissioner for Health, Dr Evans Dennar, a former Director of Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) and Prof Paul Feyi Waboso, 1st son of King Dr Feyi Waboso among many others.

In attendance at the occasion was the Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe under whose Senatorial District the Azumini community is domicile, Honorable Uzoma Nkem Abonta representing Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency. Representing the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu was Hon. Chika Art Adiele, Senior Special Assistant to on Media and Communication and Barrister Chimdi Nwokeukwu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs.

Commending the efforts in organizing the event, Senator Abaribe eulogised the uniqueness of Ikoro Azumini and pledged to always support future editions.

Hon Adiele, SSA to the governor on media while speaking to News Royale stressed the need to encourage Abia people to value their traditional and culture.

Another participant, Chidi Nwangwu commended the organisers of the event pointing out that it is surely a celebration that he would love to witness again. “May the joyful spirit of Azumini continue to shine and illuminate not just our community, but the entire Ukwa-Ngwa nation and Abia State at large. And may the spirit of oneness and love for our community which was on first-class display continue to blossom from generation to generation,” he noted.

Delicacy on display was folo ukazi a special meal of the Azumini people. On the whole, it was an exquisite, royal, classic and superb cultural celebration that left many looking forward to another interesting edition next year.

The idea of Igbo speaking towns with Igala origin is a historical fabrication. What we have are Igbo speaking towns that welcomed Igala migrants in their midsts and subsequently acculturated the Igala migrants into Igbo speaking people.

Any Igbo speaking group in Igboland claiming non Igbo origin is propagating a fabricated story.
If there are Idomas there, then its common sense they met aboriginal Igbos on ground who assimilated them and made them to become Igbo speaking. The language of the dominant group always wins and the rest MUST assimilate.

The only Idoma people we have in South East are in Ette town in Igbo Eze Enugu. And they share the town with Igbo aboriginal of the town and with Igala migrants who live there too.
We don't claim the Idoma and Igala in Ette as Igbos.
We maintain they are migrants in Igboland .

@HarryDuce, my inference on this ijaw situation is solely based on observation. I've been in an environment with two Ijaws from Odi in bayelsa, one ijaw from Engenni in ahoada-west and another from elem-tombia in Degema respectively in Rivers state. The bayelsa guy spoke with his brother from odi and out of curiosity I asked the guys from engenni and Kalabari if they understood and they said not at all.

Now the Ofoni speak Urhobo but are Ijaws; the people of gelegele(that seaport area in Edo state) speak Edo but are Ijaws; apoi in ondo speak Yoruba but are ijaws;Ndoki speak Igbo but are Ijaws; Obolo speak a different language from Ibani, which is different from Abua, from Nkoroo, from Engenni, from Epie, from Nembe, from Ogbia, from Atissa. Except Kalabari and Okrika which is highly mutually intelligible, the rest is just something else. How does a scholar sincerely group all this diverse ethnicities into one unit.
Ijaw ancestry bonds them all.
