Protest rocked Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo Campus as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) blocked the entrance of the school.

Also, the protesting staff barred the vice-chancellor of the institution, Prof Olanrewaju Fagboun, and students from gaining access to the premises.

Recall that the Lagos State Government instructed the Tertiary Institution final year student to resume on Monday, 14th September after closing all schools for six months in the measure of the global outbreak, Coronavirus.

The protest is about the failure of the school management to over non-payment of increment in salaries promised by the Lagos state government.

Members of the union took over the entrance of the university from security personnel and turned back both human and vehicular movements from going in and out of the premises, Vanguard Report.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced a timeline when it would release results for the 2020 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

This was announced by Nigeria WAEC Head of Public Affairs, Demianus Ojijeogu in an interview with Tribune Online.

Demianus Ojijeogu disclosed that the results for the just-concluded WASSCE would be released within 45 days after the exam has ended.

However, he disclosed that the examination body is working towards adhering to its standard practice of releasing the results with the 45-days time frame.

"So, certainly, we will still work towards achieving this 45 days time lag target," he stated.

Recall that the WASSCE was postponed from April to September due to the coronavirus outbreak.

A total of 1,459,463 students reportedly sat the exam in Nigeria which ended on Saturday, September 12.

Philippines’ National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested four Nigerian in Municipal City.

The agency arrested the students for alleged involvement in the hacking stealing of funds from banks.

Vic Lorenzo who serves as the NBI Cybercrime Division Chief said the Nigerians were part of an international syndicate who hack banking systems, taking advantage of the flaws in their systems.

The NBI, however, stated that the students violated the Access Device Law, Anti-Cyber-crime law, and falsification of public documents.

Philippines-based ABS-CBN News said fraudulent transactions were traced after they hacked a system of one Philippine bank, where at least P100 million were transferred and diverted into a different account.

Lorenzo also added that the international syndicate is complicated to the point that they study the system’s flaws.

"Once they see a weakness, they will take advantage of that,” Lorenzo added.

The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo lamented over the increase of the poverty situation in the country.

Speaking at the first year ministerial performance review retreat, the Nigerian lawyer and politician Osinbajo disclosed that the Coronavirus pandemic has made Nigerians poorer.

According to The Times Higher Education, the institutions were measured based on teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

"This year’s ranking analyzed more than 80 million citations across over 13 million research publications and included survey responses from 22,000 scholars globally."

Times Higher Education, formerly The Times Higher Education Supplement is a weekly magazine based in London, reporting specifically on news and issues related to higher education.

However, according to their ranking, the University of Ibadan (U1) is the best in Nigeria.

Over 1,500 universities in 93 countries and regions were part of the 2021 ranking.

The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN have come under attack following the declaration by its Lagos chapter Chairman, Apostle Alex Bamgbola concerning Femi Fani-Kayode.

Department of State Service (DSS) question Nigerian Musicians, Don Jazzy, and Tiwa Savage over alleged political utterance against the administration of President Muhammedu Buhari.

Report stated that in recent months, following a sharp rise in sexual assault cases across Nigeria especially against women, Tiwa Savage began a movement known as "WeAreTired" in protest of the situation.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Governor David Umahi has called for the immediate sack of some staff at the State University (EBSU).

The governor made the call while swearing-in local government area chairmen and other appointees at the state capital, Abakaliki.

Governor David Umahi noted that the state university is overstaffed and has to be reduced to a bearable number.

However, he asked the management and staff of the University to make sacrifices of 20 percent of their salaries.

"I appeal to EBSU to make sacrifices. I am happy that the board members are here. When the Federal institution, FUNAI university was challenged, every worker there sacrificed 20 percent of their salaries for the period of one year."

Finally. Police have arrested six people allegedly connected with the rape and killing of Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100-level student at the University of Benin.

Recall that Uwaila,  a 22 years old University of Benin student was raped and murdered in a church in May.

Subsequently, the tragedy sent shock-waves across the country and call for protest for an end to gender-based violence tagged "SAY NO TO RAPIST."

The hoodlums reportedly struck her in the head with a fire extinguisher after raping her and left her for dead.

She was later rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital where she later died.

Recently, a viral live video has shown the owner of popular Instagram Gossip blog, Instablog9ja.

The alleged owner of the popular blog has mistakenly exposed herself in a live video today.

Apparently the woman was trying to post something else on the page and unintentionally went live on the social media platform.

However, Nigerians were quick to capture the face of the blogger.

Subsequently, as soon as she noticed she was on Instagram Live, she shouted: “Jesus” and quickly ended the live session.

Instablog is one of the most popular blogs on Instagram and has remained anonymous for years, well until the unfortunate incident today.

However several attempts have been made to unmask the face behind the blog.
