I'm building around an Intel® Core™ i5-12400F for my nephew. We ordered an ASUS PRIME H610M-A WIFI D4 Intel H610 LGA 1700 micro ATX from Ebuyer, but they messed us around so we went back to Amazon like we've done for everything else.

I'm sticking to Amazon from now on for their returns policy, and Ebay because of paypal protection.
Nice setup. I know there are tradeoffs, but have you considered a MB with a usb-c port.
Not sure if you have a Microcenter in the UK, but that's one of my favorite stores and where I get a ton of my components.
Also, not sure about reliability now, but I got some components from Newegg as well.

Sounds fun for you and your nephew.
Was planning to do something similar with my niece with my older itx setup. But she says she wants a purple glitter case with purple lights.. There goes a Saturday, sanding a case and cleaning my spray gun. should have closed my mouth. grin

it is really a late stage capitalism problem

https://www.epi.org/publication/ceo-pay-in-2021/

i mean we can see elon musk who spends all his time on twitter. or running around in the white house. so what time does he actually have to actually work? but greed is good so let ceos keep finding ways to increase their wages while reducing the wages of everyone else

the oil and gas industry in nigeria has some of the highest paid workers. those workers salaries drive the economy where they are based. but when a company like shell or texaco divests, the first thing the new owners go for is killing the unions, so they can reduce wages and redirect any savings to themselves and their cronies. now here is the thing. these owners are already rich. they have already set themselves up. so any extra money they are squeezing out of the company from contract staffing, from awarding jobs to family members - it is not going into the economy. it is going to pandora.

this is how you slow down the economy. this is also what happened in warri. when shell was in warri, the money flowed and the city thrived. shell has divested and nigerians have taken over. you will see the nigerian owners in pages of magzines as oil big boys, but the wealth is concentrated among them. it is not flowing down.

this is where america is today. most of the money is in the hands of a few who are only interested in growing it even more . Nigerians are told that abacha had a mental disease. well do do American billionaires. it is never enough for them . they want more and more and more even at the peoples expense - just like our politicians

i literally watched a ceo who raum knows of build a thriving company and kill it with his greed. same energy. the money is never enough.
You're right.
The game is rigged.
Problem in the US is that we can't have that proper discussion.
Too many people have economic magical thinking.

You are right that this is one of the problems. While their move looks good, it also affect the economy as many companies struggle to absorb higher labor costs, leading them to cut back on employees or even relocate operations.
That is a conversation that the US has to have.
Do people actually want cheaper good/services or do they think people should be paid a living wage.

Funny you should say that. Remind me which party is advocating for revised child labor laws? So that more kids can be out of school and working to “earn their worth”. Hint: it’s the Republican Party!

This is from the guardian. I encourage you to look more into bills passed by republicans to remove child labor protections

I’m not in support of Chinese manufacturing practices. Not saying the USA has the best practices but definitely better than them. And do you know why the higher USA standards exist? Because of bleeding heart liberals. You make fun of us for caring too much but then brag about labor protections we have in the country. These protections were created after the snowflake-always-miserable-constantly-crying liberals fought for them.

Sounds like you want the same things we want. But you have to stop getting in your own way. We could have the American manufacturing you want but that would require strong unions, taxing the rich, and lots of regulations. All things Republicans hate.
Their message is so discordant.
Depending on what they are arguing the will argue for completely contradictory things.

There’s so much to unpack in this post. Sorry for the long post.

1)so you’re okay with more expensive products as long as they are made in America? Right now, The only way to keep manufacturing jobs here is to force people to accept goods at very expensive price points. According to you guys, the economy was terrible under Biden and people are suffering. Your solution is to make the things they need even more expensive. How’s that for a solution?.

2) Other countries didn’t make buying from America hard. America made buying from itself hard. If American minimum wage is 10x the next trading partner, whose fault is it that the trading partner would be seeking more affordable options? We have this massively inflated currency that we force other countries to trade with. It’s to our benefit. But We can’t turn back and pretend that their currencies being weaker than ours doesn’t have an impact on how much more expensive buying from us is. I’m no economist but isn’t this obvious? Someone with a degree in international economics should correct me if I’m wrong please.

3) Now let’s talk about how I really feel about American manufacturing and jobs here. Because you’re either making assumptions about me now or conveniently forgotten that I’ve in the past spoken out about corporations shipping jobs abroad due to greed and maximizing profits. To which you whipped out your classic defense of greedy corporations and how profit is the ultimate holy grail. We could have manufacturing here if corporations would take a pay cut.

5) it’s rich that you suddenly care about American jobs. I thought no one owed anyone else a job? Wasn’t that your response to the mass layoffs? I digress but it can’t be ignored so I had to point it out.

6) I would love a boost in American manufacturing if done correctly. Putting tariffs first. Causing a crash in the market and hike in prices with no alternatives yet is a silly way to go about it.

7) Do you know there’s a world in which manufacturing happens in America, workers are paid fairly and the products don’t have to cost an arm and a leg? The only trade off would be that the companies don’t get to take in gargantuan profits with each quarter being better than the last. They would make good money still but that won’t satisfy their greed and knowing you, you’d rather support suffering for more expensive products than for billionaires to take a pay cut. So if you’re not in support of a system where we can make this happen, then you just like Trump are not yet serious about bringing manufacturing back to America.
💯💯

In the second ruling , SCOTUS by 5-4 ruling lifted the Restraining order of using the Invasion Act to deport The court also held that the president can use the Act , but the deportees would have a due process . But they are held in Texas, only a judge in Texas can listen to their pleadings. Not Boasberg in DC , court ruled basically he has no jurisdiction.
The justices did not endorse the use of the Enemy Invasion Act. They just said that it was an improper court to have brought the suit, so the lawyers have to start over. But, once it is filed in Texas, they will have to answer that question. The court said that Trump would have to give Venezuelans due process through habeas corpus, which removes a lot of the benefit from Trump's use of it.
It was a very cowardly ruling meant to help Trump.
1.) If someone gets taken without due process, 5 justices think that person should first find the proper federal court. While the Trump administration can move you around to prevent you from doing so. To file a habeas corpus you have to actually know the person is being held.
2.) The Justices could have still answered the question re: the Invasion Act. Seemingly the goal is to delay the ruling as it will now have to proceed in a conservative court that will undoubtedly set a hearing schedule to delay given Trump a loss in the Supreme Court.

You should stop writing on this. You don't have your facts or understanding right.

Bemeruca vs. IBM.

Potential for SSD data loss after extended shutdown

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/potential-ssd-data-loss-after-extended-shutdown

Abstract
There are considerations which should be made if you are planning on shutting down an SSD based system for an extended period. The JEDEC spec for Enterprise SSD drives requires that the drives retain data for a minimum of 3 months at 40C. This means that after 3 months of a system being powered off in an environment that is at 40C or less, there is a potential of data loss and/or drive failures. This power off time limitation is due to the physical characteristics of Flash SSD media's gradual loss of electrical charge over an extended power down period. There is a potential for data loss and/or flash cell characteristic shift, leading to drive failure.
