cococandy: But we were fear mongering right?. That was the first gaslighting technique they used. Then when it turned out it wasn’t a lie after all, it became “they deserved it”.
I just watched bemeruca call IjeBos a terrorist a few pages back. He confidently classified someone he knows is not a terrorist as a terrorist. That is where we are with them.
So logically if IjeBos were to erroneously end up in ICE trouble for whatever reason even though he’s a citizen, bemeruca would say it is where he belongs because he’s a terrorist? This is where we are in 2025.
That’s what happens when you lose your soul. I feel sorry for people who use the word like that. It shows a lack of depth. But it is exactly what Android17 was pointing out though he didn't stand by it fully. It was on full display at the White House yesterday as Trump called Garcia a terrorist, without proof, while he pardoned all the people who actually committed would would align closer with the definition of terrorism on Jan. 6. terrorism: the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. |

bemeruca: You are basking on idiocy as you continue to sound clueless then take my initial position as you lie that I said something I never said.
I asked you, when a system is unplugged and no battery how does it turn itself on? You argument is moot.
I was the first to spoke about RTC while you were shouting CMOS. 1: CMOS battery old, new systems hardly include it 2: they now use RTC which is charged by a super cap. And it uses the laptop battery instead of a dedicated coin like battery. 3: not all computers require RTC
These are my 3main point. Now you lie saying I was talking about spontaneous energy because I was explaining standby power and remote.
You just learnt about RTC two minutes ago and it is because I mentioned it.
Your raspberry pi does not have RTC or CMOS battery yet it functions. Again, I said servers can function without RTC and they can turn on via remote (Network Interface Card) which can turn on the computer. At this point you have accepted our position, you are arguing to save face. Bemeruca developed Spontaneous Power right here on Nairaland. My whole home/security system has a backup battery and backup lte because I understand that power doesn't generate spontaneously. Lol |

I might have accidentally blown up his claimed Comp science degree I always wonder what separates talented tech people from not so talented tech people. I think it's posts like this. You design something with the assumption that there is always a battery/power connected. And if a battery it will always have some charge and if plugged in, it will always remain plugged in. What happens to a core system if both your assumptions are wrong? I'll tell you, your system fails. Just a piss poor design. No power means that, no power. No battery, not plug into the wall, no trickle charge. And in that case there is nothing for the RTC to use to keep itself powered. So, the clock will stop. Your reason here is how you reason most of your pro Trump posts. I really think you aren't smart enough nor imaginative enough to do better. But I'll say it anyways, do better. |

The US is paying El Salvador to hold people in which after a year the US gets to decide what to do with them, But the US says, 1.) They are under the control of a foreign nation. 2.) basilico: Bemeruca informed you that newer laptops dont necessary have CMOS batteries. This is true esp MacBooks and modern laptops not landfills
While most laptops typically include a CMOS battery to maintain BIOS settings, there are some models that either do not have one or can operate without it. Here’s a summary of HP and Dell laptops regarding their CMOS battery status:
HP Laptops HP ProBook Series: Some models in this series may not have a traditional CMOS battery, relying instead on the main battery for BIOS settings. HP Spectre x360: This model can function without a CMOS battery, but it will lose BIOS settings when powered off. HP Envy Series: Similar to the Spectre, certain models may not have a dedicated CMOS battery. Dell Laptops Dell Latitude Series: Many models can operate without a CMOS battery, as they rely on the main battery to retain BIOS settings. Dell Inspiron Series: Some older models may not have a CMOS battery, but they can still function normally. Dell XPS Series: Certain configurations may not include a CMOS battery, depending on the design. Key Points Functionality: Laptops without a CMOS battery can still run, but they may lose BIOS settings and time when powered off. Battery Dependency: These laptops often depend on the main battery to maintain settings. Again, you prove my point. Mac's use the main battery along with a capacitoru. Without a battery you have nothing to power the RTC. |

basilico: The Master Clock will update to the correct time and date from the CMOS or from external NTP server. Then everything is all dandy. Modern MB esp MacBooks don't have that coin shaped CMOS battery, that's what bemeruca has been telling you 1.) So say I power off my PC at 10:21 and have no internet connection, how does that time update when there is no power? If it can't update, how does the computer turn on using a schedule at 1:30pm? 2.) MacBooks implement the RTC using its laptop battery and a capacitor. bemeruca: Computer work with wrong time, when it connects to the internet, the website refuse to display or work because it needs to use the correct time. You assume that it will eventually connect to the internet. Using an assumption that a computer will connect to the internet doesn't seem to be a robust way to program anything. A couple years back I was rebuilding my server and needed to reinstall a piece of software that I used to use to alert me of HD temp issues. I tried to install it but when it loaded it told me the software was no longer supported and wouldn't do anything else. I knew the software still worked as I had used it on the previous server, same OS and all. I guess they had updated it and wouldn't let you reinstall the old version. But you could update from the old version. Kinda pissed as I had purchased it and it seemed shady. So, I just rolled back my system time 5 years, reinstalled using my license, made the system time current and upgraded. basilico: Correct time has nothing to do with a motherboard operation. The MB has its own clocking mechanism, eg when copying a file to drive , it will show you the time remaining. That's the MB clock system. Not really what the clocking system is. You aren't even thinking of clocks in a high level programing language way not to talk about low level instruction set way. basilico: The correct date and time does not prevent the MB from doing its thing. Display correct day and time are of course essential but not critical . A computer will still work Incorrect, some programs rely on the correct date/time. Think back to y2k. And again, when the computer is powered down, where does that clock signal come from? So, explain how "Power on Schedule" works if the computer is off. If I want the computer to wake up at 4:20pm. How does the computer wake up without a clock signal? And you are still thinking of a clock like a clock on the wall. The RTC uses an oscillator to create the clock signal and basically count to get the time. Oga, go rest. You play with computers but you don't understand them. |

basilico: BIOS has the PC time.. On older models and standalones that time will be indicated. Otherwise you can set your PC to sync with a time server. A local time server that syncs with publicly available NTP servers syncs all your network devices. On gateway routers depending on complexity , you can force every external time sync request to be served by the router. You're still thinking of time in a basic way. In the real world we use time to execute commands. It's not just to look at. In 5 seconds, do this. etc. We can count it, feel it or look up at the clock. The computer does as well. On an aside, that's why we talk of processors in terms of frequency or clock speed or how many cycles it completes in a second (1/s). Anyhow, there are still some functions a computer may want to execute when off, 1 basic one is keeping the time relatively updated so when you boot up shit will work. Another is, you want to PC to wake up at a certain time. It needs to calculate when that time is. If the Power is off, it can't do that. The clock isn't just for showing you the time, but also for the computer to know when to do things. Anyhow, I'm done with this convo. Doing my mom's taxes and been distracted and you seem to have a hard time with a basic concept. |
