This is an aside, but I saw this study and thought of Ibime and his "soyboy" comments. What I found hilarious about the comments is that most of the guys I know who are super health conscience are the most successful, disciplined in fact, gully(slang) people I know. Successful because it takes 1.) extreme amounts of discipline and 2.) a non conformist attitude to not give a shit what people think to pull it off. I was vegan for 2 years and it was very hard. People should really challenge their preconceptions . https://studyfinds.org/vegetarians-crave-power-success-more-than-meat-eaters/Vegetarians Crave Power And Success More Than Meat Eaters Do, Study FindsIn a nutshell What’s new: A new study challenges stereotypes by showing vegetarians score higher on values like power, achievement, and stimulation than meat-eaters do. Key finding: Vegetarians care less about benevolence, security, and conformity, but place more importance on personal success and standing apart from the crowd. Why it matters: The research suggests vegetarianism is linked more to independence and non-conformity than just compassion for animals or the environment. |

raumdeuter: Paramount has agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit brought by President Donald Trump that had alleged an interview that aired on CBS’s “60 Minutes” last year with Kamala Harris, his Democratic opponent for the presidency, was deceptively edited.
The agreement in principle, proposed by a mediator, includes plaintiffs’ fees and costs and — except for fees and costs — will be allocated to Trump’s future presidential library, Paramount Global said in a statement late Tuesday. Paramount is the parent company of CBS.
The lawsuit was filed in the Northern District of Texas and sought $20 billion in damages. And the fact that the parent company Paramount needs approval from Trump's FTC for a billion dollar deal, after the FTC chair basically saying it was contingent on the settlement I'm sure played no part in your mind. This lawsuit wouldn't have even survived a summary judgement motion. It's telling that Paramount didn't even file one. I understand the desire to settle and feeling that you are between a rock and a hard place. But this settlement is levels of corruption befitting Nigeria. They shouldn't have done it. It also opens the whole Paramount board for bribery charges and I hope the next administration pursues it. |

bayelsaowei: it is with Trump that I really understand that humans are no different after all..
There's no single difference between Trump and a typical Nigerian (e.g Tinubu) or 3rd world country leader.
Is it corruption, Trump is the epitome of it..is it nepotism he is the baba of it. Is it gravitating to criminals, he is so good at it. Is it about brazingly lying to the public, Trump is the master of it. Is it about not giving a damn about the pains and sufferings of people, there you have Trump.. is it about blame game and not being accountable, Trump is the king of this act. When corrupt people get in power even the US can look like Nigeria. I would just expect Nigerians who have lived in Nigeria to not be celebrating Trump and all his corruption. |

bayelsaowei: immigrants who are blacks and Latino who voted for Trump are not wise folks.. probably they voted basically to strongly fight off the LGBTQ campaigns (which i also dont support) and promote other supposed Christian agenda. But elections are beyond that.
The Trumps admin wasn't going to back down on racist and fascist methods in getting their campaign promises executed. I'm not pro LGBTQ as well. But at the end of the day it's a civil rights issue. Why should anyone police what people wear or who people kiss. None of my business. People should be free to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't affect others. But, I don't think government should be promoting it. And I also don't believe government should be in the business of marriage. Keep it a religious thing. It's just sad that so many people destroyed their lives thinking they were voting to destroy others. Hate fueled by propaganda is a terrible thing. |

It's pure anti-Semitism playbook. The Land historical was home to the Kingdoms of Judah and Northern Israel. Palestinians have no claim to that Land because they never exercised sovereignty over it, but instead were always under colonial rule. Colonial masters in anywhere always had administrative and governing control over their colony. Arabs are not indigenous to the region, they are not even indigenous to Saudi Arabia. That said, if everyone had agreed to the 1947 map This is a New York Times article on the recent settler violence/attacks. From settlers attacking Palestinians to even burning down a Israeli military security installation. Dusk was settling over Kafr Malik, a quiet Palestinian village in the occupied West Bank. At the Afeef family’s home on the outskirts, a mother was putting her newborn to sleep in a ground-floor bedroom. Another relative was pulling up outside with her four young children in the car.
That calm was shattered soon afterward when scores of Israelis, many masked, descended on the village by foot and in vehicles, according to witnesses and local officials.
The attackers hurled Molotov cocktails and set homes and cars on fire, the witnesses and local officials said. The Israeli military said in a statement that dozens of Israeli civilians had set Palestinian property ablaze.
The violence in Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah, last week comes amid a sharp rise in settler attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank, where about half a million Israelis live in Jewish settlements among three million Palestinians.
Settler attacks injured more than 220 Palestinians during the first five months of 2025, the highest rate in years, according to the United Nations. Settlers killed a Palestinian man on June 19, the U.N. says.
The violence in Kafr Malik set off a chain of confrontations between settlers and Israeli security forces in the area. Soldiers shot and wounded an Israeli youth on Friday, prompting hard-right Israelis to clash with troops outside a military base and burn down a nearby security installation on Sunday, the military said.

AmazonTopaz: Forgiving student loans, child tax credit, climate executive orders and so on are not progressive right? They are not the campaign promises he made to progressives abi? Biden is regarded as one of the most progressive Presidents in Legislation for decades. It is not a "Far-right" language but facts and there is nothing wrong with it because he had progressive legislation and policies he tackled that made him different from Obama, his judicial nominees and their records also add to the progressive label some experts gave him. Recognizing trans rights is even a progressive idea, something mainstream or blue dog Democrats shy away from. But Biden did and signed executive orders on that issue. But those aren't all progressive ideas. The problem is the political spectrum has shifted. Republicans have gone so far right and crazy that middle of the road policies seem progressive. And the media doesn't help. What is centrist about Murkowski or Susan Collins? An example is Reagan. If Reagan were alive today he would be considered a RINO and kicked out of the party. Trans rights is a unique issue as it's a civil rights issue. AmazonTopaz: Part of the reason why Biden isn't in office is because progressives decided to become ingrates and failed to tout his legislative record but instead began a purity culture on Biden because of Gaza. They forgot everything because of Gaza whereas their country was going to burn with Orange in power but they forgot all that because of Gaza and were "uncommitted, Jill Stein" voters. They played a part in the National sentiment against Biden which Republicans capitalized on when they started protesting in colleges. They used it to spread Islamophobia and anti-immigration sentiments, which was one of the reasons why Harris lost too. The Leftists player a part in it. They have been doing this nonsense since 2016. Gaza was a moral failing on Biden's part. The problem is Dems really believe the morality they preach. To argue the we should be ok with what was going on for expediency isn't the type of politics most Dems want or spend their time organizing for. AmazonTopaz: "Settlers" by Leftists refer to the entirety of Israel and not just the West Bank or East Jerusalem, same way they use the term "Colonizers" and "River to the sea" because they refuse to acknowledge the right of Israel to exist." It's pure anti-Semitism playbook. That said, if everyone had agreed to the 1947 map nobody would be fighting today. I and most Dems I talk to opposed to "settlers" use the term settlers to refer to the actual people who call themselves settlers in Israel who currently forcibly take over Palestinian land because they believe it's their right. It's a whole separate issue from Israel. The view that randos can come take over someone's land and then the Israeli government can annex it and argue they have to defend them is insane. The US even has a policy on settlers. AmazonTopaz: Israel would still defend itself without America, When America was on its imperialists campaign to other regions, we didn't see Americans on the street despite their tax dollars being involved in those conquest. We do. Democrats were against Iraq and protested loudly against it. Dems are also against Russia's imperialism in Ukraine. AmazonTopaz: anti-Semitism, rightly applies to anyone who refuses to accept that Israel has a right to exist, refuses to acknowledge it's a country that must defend itself just like any other country would and believes that Israelis are colonizers who are not indigenous to the land. Many rhetorics like "globalize the intifada" "River to the Sea" "Watermelon" etc are all anti Semitic. I do not believe Israel has a right to take over land occupied by people for thousands of years. I can't find any logical rational for it and I don't see religion as a logical rational. Maybe you can make a rational argument that doesn't allude to religion. AmazonTopaz: When you criticize Israel the way you would any other country then you are not an anti-semite however when you use anti-semitic dog whistles and aim to target Jewish people like many critiques do in their rhetoric of the Far-left then indeed they are anti-semites. That there are Jews who criticize Israel doesn't water down that many criticisms are rooted in anti-semitism. And here is the rub. Take the analogous case of Russia. A country using it's imperial might to try to colonize a smaller country. America trashed Russia. They were boycotted. Their citizens maligned, rightfully so. They were boycotted. Restaurants/Stores in the US boycotted. Their ships weren't even allowed in some harbours. They were even kicked out of international sporting events. etc. etc. Now compare them to Israel. Is anyone had done anything like that to Israel there would be shouts of antisemitism. No Israel is not treated the same as anyone else. They are treated unequally in that they are treated better and limited from criticism compared to any other country in a similar position. Those are just facts. |

Everyone talks to their kids about police interaction even in Nigeria, If black friends talk to their kids about police interaction, Is it that no one spoke to you about police interactions? Or despite the talks you still get "detained" more than the average I grew up in the US. You came here as a post grad adult. And every one of my black friends talks to their children about Police interactions, how to manage them and that their parent's "success" won't afford them the same privilege of their white friends. You live in a world of cognitive dissonance. A world where one of the President's key supporters thinks dogs eat betterare cleaner than Africans and also in a world where that type of racism doesn't bleed into systems of government like policing. You're purposefully naive. I just don't understand what agenda it satisfies in your mind. |

Let them all strip the amendments till America breaks into pieces. No one should have the monopoly of madness or breaking the law . But they won't and I think Republicans understand that. AmazonTopaz: @bold, is why ingrates in the Far-left helped Trump win again. I said he was the most progressive President so yes he was progressive because there is no other president since LBJ that has had his progressive records records. Anyway enjoy your retrogressive president currently in power. Since you folks cannot recognize a good thing and are waiting for perfect candidates.
Also, Mandani or whatever his name is is an anti-semite. Using the term "settlers" is from the anti-semite playbook and Palestinians do not own that land. He and many progressives are anti-semites. Whatever genocide happening in Gaza is happening in Sudan and everywhere else but no scrutiny because no Jews, no news.
Rubbish. You're using the language of the far right. They called Biden a socialist far left progressive President, the same thing they called Obama. I don't think Biden lost because of his policies but because of the prolonged media strategy on the right. I'm not even sure half the conservatives know what socialism or communism is. And I'm sure if any Dem would have suggested Social Security or Medicare today, the right would be calling it full blown socialism. As to settlers, that's what they are, that's what even Israel calls them and I believe they call their movement. They even have Government policies in place to support them like the "Ministry of Settlements and National Mission". As to who owns the land, I know some guy who lives in Ohio who becomes Jewish and decides to move to Israel doesn't own the land. What is happening in Gaza is happening with the aid and tacit support of the US. That is the reason why Americans care about it. Tell me how much money and weapons we give Sudan to kill other people. $0. But we have to stop using the word anti-semite as a means to stop debate and bludgeon people. Israel is a foreign country. And criticizing a foreign country does not make one hate all people of the Jewish religion. This in itself is a problem with what Israel is. They want to be a Jewish state than want to equate any criticism for their government's policies with criticism of their religion. There are plenty of Jews who criticise Israel's policies like Bernie Sanders. |

Ekaka14: I am planning a trip to Nigeria in less months but my Nigerians passport has expired..where i live. It will practically take another 2-3months to get my Nigerian passport renewed so I am planning to use my Canadian passport for visa on arrival...my question to you and anyone here with information is: 1. How does the visa on arrival actually work in practice (not what is posted on Nigerian embassy or immigration sites) 2. These monies you spent was it at the point of arrival in a Nigerian Airport and are these figures official? Just to help me plan ahead please...I just tire for all the policy summersault wey dey happen for that country and especially for years now in the immigration and aviation sectors You can fly in with an expired Nigerian passport - well at least you could 4 months ago (To qualify it since it is Nigeria). I did it in 2023 and a friend did it in March 2025. If you want to double check or need reassurance, reach out to your airline or better yet just head to the airport check in desk for your airline and ask them there. There was a communication to all the airlines a couple years back to allow travel with an expired Nigerian passport. All the airlines should be aware by now. I would do the Passport in Nigeria. Pay the "expedited" fee if there is still that option. I was supposed to get it in 1 day, but the NIN didn't drop for 2 days. You'll need to get ur NIN first. They'll "harass" you on exit if you didn't renew the passport. |

Raumdeuter may not be safe after all. Trump’s justice department issues directive to strip naturalized Americans of citizenship for criminal offensesThe Trump administration has codified its efforts to strip some Americans of their US citizenship in a recently published justice department memo that directs attorneys to prioritize denaturalization for naturalized citizens who commit certain crimes.
The memo, published on 11 June, calls on attorneys in the department to institute civil proceedings to revoke a person’s United States citizenship if an individual either “illegally procured” naturalization or procured naturalization by “concealment of a material fact or by willful misrepresentation”.
At the center of the move are the estimated 25 million US citizens who immigrated to the country after being born abroad, according to data from 2023 – and it lists 10 different priority categories for denaturalization.
According to the memo, those subjected to civil proceedings are not entitled to an attorney like they are in criminal cases. And the government has a lighter burden of proof in civil cases than they do in criminal ones. The directive gives justice department attorneys wider discretion on when to pursue denaturalization, including in instances of lying on immigration forms, cases where there is financial fraud or medical fraud against the US or against private individuals; and cases referred by a US attorney’s office or in connection with pending criminal charges. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jun/30/trump-birthright-citizenship-naturalized-citizens

He is a covert antisemite, many leftists and the idea that nobody should be a billionaire is from socialism/communism playbook. Free buses without a formidable plan on how to pay for it is socialism playbook. Beautiful on paper and ugly in practice, cheap promises with no realistic gains.
I agree with you, unregulated capitalism is a cancer and that's why I prefer a mixed economy but unregulated capitalism is just as horrible as Socialism and its other brother. Ask USSR how that worked out for them. 1.) Biden was not a progressive President. 2.) Mamdani is not an anti-semite. Being for Palestinian rights, against giving tax deductions to send money to settlers to buy weapons and against genocide doesn't mean you are an anti semite. 3.) I don't think he is against people being wealthy, but people should pay for the services they derive, in fact I think it's patriotic to. In the 1940's the top tax rate was in the 90%. That wasn't socialism then. |
