Bullet01: The Ondo governor is receiving treatment for leukemia and has been undergoing chemotherapy in Nigeria, which SaharaReporters learnt had been knocking him out for up to 10 hours after every medication.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s son has sought the assistance of President Bola Tinubu to get an air ambulance to return his ailing father to Germany where he had been receiving treatment.
The Ondo governor is receiving treatment for leukemia and has been undergoing chemotherapy in Nigeria, which SaharaReporters learnt had been knocking him out for up to 10 hours after every medication.
Family sources told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that Akeredolu’s condition has worsened.
“He is no longer able to speak,” one of the sources said.
According to sources, this prompted his son, Babajide, to ask for the President’s help to speedily fly his ailing father to Germany.
“Akeredolu’s son is seeking permission and help from Tinubu to get an air ambulance to return his father to Germany,” one of the sources said.
SaharaReporters earlier today (Tuesday) reported that President Tinubu directed Governor Akeredolu to transfer power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Senator representing Ondo South, Jimoh Ibrahim.
Akeredolu’s son, Babajide, who was appointed by the governor (father) in November 2021 as the Director General of the Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit, Office of the Governor of Ondo State (PPIMU), was also in attendance.
SaharaReporters further reported that the transfer of power would be done by electronic signature (e-signature) as the ailing governor is too weak to sign any letter or document.
Tinubu reportedly told people at the meeting he had summoned to resolve the leadership crisis in Ondo on Monday that Akeredolu was incapacitated and could not sign a letter anymore.
Monday’s emergency meeting was the second one summoned by the President to resolve the leadership crisis in the state following the governor’s absence from office since July 2023.
lonelyatdtop: Please let's rub minds, which is more economical, with this harsh economy and weather conditions, one cannot do without bathing with boiling point water, And cost of everything has skyrocketed, a bag of charcoal is above 5k, 1kg of gas is above a thousand naira and kerosene is also nothing to write home about, so please, I'd like to know how you cope with your families this season, which do you use and why?
1. A charcoal 2. Gas 3. Kerosene 4. All or none ? Thanks for your input.
In Lagos, the weather is not really cold enough so I do bath with water coming directly from the tap
Sermwell: Be smart enough to know what the governor is doing! He's trying to woo Tinubu to his side by the renewed hope mantra! Because without Tinubu's support to Wike, he can successfully crush him!
Jorussia: what injunctions?the people cheering him up here said he is even more powerful than the president.
He has to make sure the budget is pass as soon as possible. Wike's lawmakers can also get a court injunction that will make it impossible to pass the budget.
The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has said regulators of the aviation sector will begin to compel airlines to compensate passengers for delayed or cancelled flights by January 2024.
The minister disclosed this on Tuesday when he appeared before the Joint National Assembly Committee on Aviation to defend his ministry’s budget for 2024 fiscal year.
Keyamo also assured all that a list of airlines that delayed or cancelled flights will be published in the media on a weekly basis as part of the compensation scheme .
He said, “I have called the customer’s satisfactory commission regarding the treatment of Nigerians. In fact, I have gone back to the committee , that is how much concern I am concerned.
“And I have said at the last address that I gave during our stakeholders meeting in lagos and our retreat in Warri. I said on a weekly basis, please publish the list of airlines that they do not fly as at when due, canceled flights, delayed flights, how many hours it was delayed, were there compensation, actions they took as regulator against these airlines. We are starting that in January.”
The aviation minister proposed that a discount should be deducted from the flight tickets of airlines that delayed passengers as part of the compensation.
Keyamo stated, “For every delay, there is a report, an actual report by the regulator , what did they do? Did they pay compensation? And if they didn’t pay compensation we have said that the other way to get compensation if they can return cash is that once the passenger is buying the next ticket it must be given a rebate. That passenger must be given a 50 per cent rebate or 40 per cent rebate because they must be a rebate”.
Keyamo said the best option to develop Nigerian airports is through concessions to investors.
He added, “Private Partnership must come to the fore. It is not even negotiable, we don’t have the funds to do so.
“In concession , we will give the people what we want , not what they want. We have to decide what we want. It is the nature, the quality of the concession that all of us will agree on.
“We want to go ahead but I want everyone of us to sit down , look for the best hands, we should go to the end of this world to look for the best and the best thing for Nigeria and raise our offer to tier one, not tier two. Tier one investors to come to Nigeria and build our gateway for us.”
Ogene001: You are very phoolish. PH is Ijawland. Ikwerre doesn't own PH, they don't have much oil, they don't have access to the sea. Ikwerre land is of no strategic importance to Igbos. Ikwerre are the ones attached themselves to other Igbos groups in Rivers State. They are trying hard to upgrade their sense of importance by being too loud about igbo denial as if anybody gives a fvck about them
Ogene001: Do you have sense at all? Rivers State is not entirely igbo and the move to stop igbo day celebration is raised by all ethnic groups in Rivers. How does this relate with the topic? Igbo groups in Rivers are well represented in Ohaneze
Wike is an Ikwerre man, till today, he has not denied who he is, a proud ikwerre man.
Ikwerre is not Igbo. It's because of you igbos arrogance the Ikwerres will never allow you igbos celebrate any Igbo festival in any part of Ikwerre land.
In 2017 when Ohaneze wanted to hold Igbo day celebration in PH, the Ikwerres rejected the celebration on any part of Ikwerre land, they told your people to carry Igbo day celebration to Igbo land in the landlock south east
Ogene001: There are many Igbo towns with well known and verifiable "Benin history" and ikwerre is not part of them. Also note that so call "Benin history" has nothing to do with their igbo ethnicity. Oguta in Imo, Osomala, Onitsha, Ozubulu, Orifite in Anambra all have clear history of Benin returnees joining them. So the ikwerre Benin story is useless, though it's fake but even if true it's still useless
Pressure has continued to mount on the Pan-Igbo group, Ohaneze Ndigbo to shelve its plan to hold the 2017 Igbo Day in Rivers state.
This time the Youth Wing of the Rivers State Elders and Leaders Council has petitioned the Inspector General of Police IBRAHIM IDRIS urging him not to approve Rivers state as the venue for the Igbo Day celebration.
The council in a statement jointly signed by the President EZE MILLER and the Secretary, LAWRENCE IBIAYEMIE said the choice of Port Harcourt against any other city is offensive.
MILLER said the September date for the event is also a wrong timing following on-going developments in the South East region.
The Council also called on the management of the University of Port Harcourt not to allow Ohaneze use their facilities for the celebration.
Our correspondent reports the River State of Police Command, the DSS, Civil Defence Corps and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt were copied in the petition.
Meanwhile; the Secretary General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, UCHE OKWUKWU has maintained that the Igbo Day poses no threat to Rivers state.

You're not an ikwerre, stop speaking on behalf of the Ikwerres. This is the same way IPOB pigs were behaving rudely in oyigbo before they were massacred.
Wike said boldly live on TV that he's not an Igbo man but an Ikwerre. No king from Ikwerre land challenged him neither do the Ikwerres drag Wike because they know they are not igbos
It's Igbos like you that love attaching yourselves to the Ikwerres
