A Kano anti-agency has recommended the suspension of Emir Sanusi, over an alleged misappropriation of N3.4bn between between 2014 and 2017. The Kano state public complaints and anti-corruption commission in the evening of Monday, June 3, said the recommendation came following their investigation after receiving a petition of financial misappropriation levelled against Kano Emirate Council under the present Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II. 

NAN reported that the commission who claimed that the Kano emirate council had spent over N1.4 billion in various expenditures believed to be fraudulent and unappropriated, raised four cardinal issues bordering on indictments, amount involved, obstruction of investigation and recommendations. 

The anti-graft agency which recommended the suspension of Emir Sanusi, further accused the emirate council of spending over N1.9 billion unappropriated on seemingly personal expenditures, making the total sum of the questionable amount.

Court document filed on behalf of President Buhari, the Federal Government and Attorney General of the Federation revealed that the NJC recommended Onnoghen’s compulsory retirement.

This  is contrary to speculation of the NJC’s offer of “voluntary retirement”  of  Onnoghen, following the refusal of the council to make public its recommendation of  April 5, 2019. Punch reported that Onnoghen was recommended for compulsory retirement, based on a petition by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission “alleging financial impropriety and infidelity to the Constitution”.

The document was filed on behalf by the Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr Dayo Apata, on behalf of the three out of a total of seven defendants in opposition to a suit instituted by Malcom Omirhobo Foundation. However Apata who filed a response on behalf of President Buhari and others, comprising a counter-affidavit along with a written address and a notice of preliminary objection revealed that the NJC recommended Onnoghen’s compulsory retirement. They also confirmed officially for the first time that Onnoghen, subsequently on April 6, 2019, submitted his voluntary letter of resignation to Buhari.

NBC threatens to shut down AIT's Kakaaki, Nigerians react

The National Broadcasting Corporation, has threatened to shutdown AIT's Kakaaki which according to them has passed off some treasonable rhetoric. 

According to NBC, AIT's Kakaaki which they threatened to shut down lacks editorial responsibility in using content from social media. The threat has however been interpreted as a move against free press. Here is the letter below;

Kemi Olunloyo has dragged Jaruma, the popular sex therapist for running a sex ad with her family name in a recent Instagram campaign.

The controversial journalist who recounted how women have made her lose deals and money in the past, stated that she wouldn't want her work and brand to be continuously degraded. Kemi Olunloyo who dragged Jaruma for running a sex ad with her family name, also threatened to file a libel case for monetary damages in Federal High Court if the ad is not removed and an apology is not also issued.

She wrote in parts;

"Hauwa do NOT joke with my live Journalism report format to boost your biz and diminish my family name. It is a RESPECTED ELITE name in Nigeria. It is NOT a comedy routine. Omololu-Olunloyo is my father's legal name. Americans have never done this to my name. Olunloyo means we won victoriously in Oyo Empire something my ancestor did. Pls write an apology post and remove the video or I will file a libel case for monetary damages in Federal High Court, Ring Rd Ibadan on Monday morning."

Andy Ruiz has become the first Mexican to win a Boxing Hevayweight title, as he defeated Anthony Joshua at a fight which took place at Madison Square in New York.

Ruiz (33-1, 22 KOs) spoiled the long-awaited U.S. debut of unified heavyweight champion and British star Anthony Joshua to score four knockdowns and record a spectacular upset via seventh-round TKO at Madison Square Garden. Maheeda, a popular nudist who off started off her music career as a secular artiste, before changing to gospel music, and back to secular music, has revealed that she can still make gospel music.  According to Maheeda, though she has a reputation as a ‘bad girl’, she could still choose to sing gospel music. The mother of one who spoke to Sunday Scoop said; 

“It is a part of my life. I might just be in the mood to make gospel music one day. As artistes, we sing about everything and anything. And it’s always good to talk about God’s love, grace and mercies in one’s life. No one is perfect or worthy, and we are all in the world. If I feel like thanking God for everything, I will! If you like, call it ‘gospel’, or say I’m not worthy; that’s not my problem. I will always be sexy and show it off.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs who spoke on behalf of FG, has stated that they have not abandoned 140 Nigerians in Ethiopian prisons.

The Ministry who disclosed that  the Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Bankole Adeoye confirmed the figure of Nigerians in the Ethiopian jail, said they conducted regular consular visitations to Nigerians in various prisons in Ethiopia and the most recent was in January 2019. The FG who maintained that they have not abandoned 140 Nigerians in Ethiopian prisons in a statement signed by the acting spokesman of the foreign affairs ministry, Friday Akpan, in Abuja, on Wednesday, said;

“While it is saddening to note that certain Nigerians have been involved in activities that contravene the Ethiopian law, the embassy is working assiduously to ensure that justice is tempered with mercy on the culpable individuals.

“The embassy will continue to make necessary legal proceeding involving Nigerians and continue to work closely with the Ethiopian authorities as soon as mission is informed of arrest and detention of Nigerians in accordance with the diplomatic and consular provisions."

A Nigerian man identified as Adili Ejike, escaped death by hanging by the whisker following the Supreme Court judgement in Singapore.

The Nigerian man who escaped death by hanging in Singapore, had earlier been convicted for drug-related offences. The Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Ministry in Abuja who confirmed that the Supreme Court Judgement in its statement on Wednesday, said;

“Mr Adili Chibuike Ejike earlier sentenced to death for importing nearly two-kilogramme of methamphetamine has been granted an acquittal by Singapore’s Supreme Court and released with no outstanding charges. The Nigeria High Commission in Singapore in a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said ‘a three-member panel that delivered the judgment was led by the Chief Justice of Singapore, Sundaresh Menon’.

“Ejike’s freedom from death by hanging by the court made history as the first time such a decision was made in a case involving a Nigerian. Ejike was arrested in November 2011 and has since been behind bars till May 2019 when he was discharged and acquitted.”
