A 29-year-old student of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, reportedly committed suicide over what he described as his ‘financial misfortune’.

The 29-year-old student who committed suicide in Kebbi, was identified as Solomon Benedict, and he reportedly took the sad path of death by drinking his yogurt which he mixed with an insecticide. It was gathered that before his death, Benedict had threatened to commit suicide over financial difficulties which his friends never took serious.

A friend who spoke to Daily Trust correspondent, said; “We noticed he was no longer uncomfortable. He was holding his tummy and we discovered he poured a portion of insecticide into his drink.” The Kebbi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed the incident. “Yes,  we are aware of the incident. He committed suicide at Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.”

Fitch Ratings, a global ratings agency has stated that Nigeria will continue to experience sluggish recovery following a weak business climate, regulatory uncertainty in the oil sector and tight credit supply which has held back investment.  The agency which predicted that the country’s GDP growth would average 2.2 per cent in 2019-2020, below its previous 10-year average of 4.2 per cent and the current ‘B’ median of 3.4 per cent, added that the high unemployment and inflation would constrain private consumption. 

Fitch who affirmed the country's long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating at ‘B+’ with a stable outlook, stated that Nigeria will continue to experience a sluggish recovery, driven by the rebound in oil prices and the expansion of services.

“A large infrastructure deficit, which is illustrated by acute power supply shortages and security challenges, also dampen the medium-term growth outlook. Nigeria’s ratings are supported by the large size of its economy, a track record of current account surpluses and a relatively low general government debt-to-GDP. This is balanced against poor governance and development indicators, structurally low fiscal revenues and high dependence on hydrocarbons. The rating is also weighed down by subdued GDP growth and inflation that is higher than in rating peers," it said.

There's yet another beef brewing in the corner, as Jaywon called Zlatan Ibile who he accused of stealing his song 'a dumb child'. 

Jaywon who accused Zlatan Ibile of stealing his song “Odun yi (This Year)”, further alleged that the Zanku crooner copied his video concept and the song lines. He wrote on Instagram;

Chika Ike has reacted, just after she was accused of undergoing plastic surgery to get the perfect physique for her recent bikini photoshoot. 

The actress and Harvard graduate had shared her beautiful photo with the caption 'let your greatness bloom'. However fans were quick to spot the curve they claim wasn't there before now. They further claimed it might have been surgically gotten. However Chika Ike who reacted after being called out for undergoing plastic surgery, neither denied or confirmed the claims directly. She however stated that she is focusing on herself and not caring about people's judgement.

The Ondo State Police Command have arrested two security guards identified as Ayuba Idris and Taisu Abubakar, who killed their Ghanaian employer and his daughter over 3-months unpaid salary. The state's Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie who paraded the suspects, said they were arrested for killing Kwakye Kwaku Richard, 71, and his daughter Kwakye Tope, 27, in Akure, Ondo State, shortly after one Mr. Ojo Adegbusuyi reported the incident to the state police command.

According to Adie, one of the security guards, 20-year-old Ayuba Idris who killed his Ghanaian employer and his daughter, was arrested in Kano State on May 16, 2019. The handset of the deceased person and his suits were recovered from him, and upon interrogation, he confessed that he and his partner named Taisu Abubakar killed their principal.

On May 28, 2019, he said, detectives also tracked down the other suspect, Taisu Abubakar in Sokoto State and one of the deceased’s laptop computers and some clothes were recovered from him. Upon interrogation, they confessed to the murder of the victims because he refused to pay their three months’ salary arrears.

As everyone is still trying get a grasp of Regina Daniels' marriage to Ned Nwoko, a movie in which she refused to marry an old man has surfaced.

The movie in which Regina Daniels refused to marry an old man, had her playing the niece of Chiwetalu Agu who she and her elder brother lived with. The young actress who refused marriage straight up in the movie, told her uncle that she wanted to focus on her education.

At some point in the short clips where her suitor came with drinks to her uncle's house, angry Regina Daniels stood up and left, leaving both her uncle and the suitor in confusion and shame. Even when her uncle ordered her to sit till the conversation was over, Regina screamed: “Excuse me”, and left. The movie however is a twist of the reality that eventually played out in the actress' life.
