It's okay, if you insist on your view.

I however see that we're still not ready to address this issue from the root but only interested in the continuous palliation of an already crumbling system. We'll only keep going round a vicious cycle until the day we're ready to "call a spade a spade".

As always, I wish Nigeria well.

What's up guys? I know it's been long since I posted here: been busy with going back to school, work and other stuff.

I remember giving the above advice the last nine months and I'll like to say that as of today, it still stands most especially from my experience working as a data analyst with an NGO while doing my MSc.

I can't emphasize it enough: learn your SQL. Again I repeat, learn your SQL if you are to switch to anything data related: whether a data analyst, scientist or engineer.

Most organizations have databases which you'll use SQL to interact with. I'm saying this because sometimes I feel there's too much emphasis on learning Python. Don't get me wrong; python is important in the world of data but it should be like number 4 on your learning list with spreadsheets and BI tools before it.

In addition to the above, I would advise you work with larger databases when practicing: the table I've been working with had about 120000 rows by 220 columns and it was just one table out of about 300 grin Quite large when you compare it to the ones used on your Udemy tutorial or YouTube or even Kaggle.

I'm not saying this to discourage anyone, just giving you an insider perspective. I would post more tidbits when I have the time.

Thanks very much for your insight. Do you not mind if I connect with you? I'm a final year Statistics student and since ASUU has refused to allow me graduate, I've been getting busy with a lot of data stuff and would really need a mentor.

Thank you very much for this. I just enrolled in the Data Science Lab and started. When ASUU finally allows me finish my Statistics degree this year, I'll definitely be giving the MSc a shot

Romance / Re: I Would Have Lost My Girl Friend If Followed An Advice I Got Here. by iLearner: 5:19pm On May 22, 2022
Alaigbopress:
Some days ago, I posted here about how my girl friend posted her ex pictures twice and I got a handful of advice, insults and very derogatory statements. Also at the same time I also got very few matured and helpful comment.
I wanted to apply the advice I was given here because I was furious and that could have been disastrous.

The next day after posting here, I confronted my girl, I told her it is over between us(all was a ploy to know how much she loves me). Since that day, my Girl's mood changed, she doesn't talk to people, she doesn't laugh and even started skipping her meal. She came to my house and was crying heavily that she was sorry. That has it been she know that it will provoke me that she wouldn't have done it.

I still pretended that I will never forgive her. Just yesterday she called my female bestie and narrated to her what happened and she called me yesterday evening and pleaded with me to forgive her. Which I did and You need to see how happy this girl has been. I will send screen shot of her recent Whatsapp status.

My Advice to anyone seeking for a relationship advice is not to follow the popular comment here.

So you have female bestie
Your girl is supposed to break up with your silly ass undecided

Women always think they are right ... what did u do?? Men don't show emotions when they are abused , they can't cry , so they rather will hit, its in our nature ...so y do women think they can just insult men and get away with it... as long as the world dont preach that women should also respect men and dont insult men, men will continue to hit women... they wise women will dodge confrontation to avoid violence , the foolish ones will think they can insult men and expect no reaction....

Domestic violence against women has increased since feminists started preaching that a woman should not be hit even if she abuses the man to the point where he is pushed to the wall... just look at the last 2 big brothers... look at how those women insulted those guys to the point that one of the guys started crying... women like that will easily get hit by a man cis men respond with violence when angry....its in a man's nature and women should understand it... this is y most men don't wanna even get married again...

ikorodureporta:

On that 7.0 scale, most average student end up btw 2.5 & 3.5...whereas at 4.0, I'm sure most average people will be scoring around 2.5.

The lecturers are usually stingy on the 7.0 scale...that's why it's hard to cross 5.0

You can easily make a 2 upper on 4.0 scale

Did you decide to ignore the analysis I put above? undecided

Majority will not reach 3.0 on the 4.0 scale because they have to consistently score above 60 to reach 3.0. Upper credit starts from 3.0! The equivalent of lower credit on the 4.0 scale is 2.0-2.99. This is where majority are. There's also no pass grade on the 4.0 scale, and pass mark is 45 instead of 40 that it is on both 5.0 and 7.0 scale.

Ask any UI student about this.
There's nothing like being stingy with 7.0 scale. You score 70 and above, that's 7 points. You score 65-69, that's 6 points. You score 60-64, that's 5 points, and so on.

Are you saying lecturers were not giving students A or B grades because the school was using 7.0 scale

Take a look at the pharmacy recent results

Politics / Re: Temitope Oyedeji Is UI’s Best Graduating Mathematics Student, Bags 41 Awards by iLearner: 9:15pm On Feb 24, 2022
ikorodureporta:

I disagree... With 4.0, the range is very wide

Lol, you don't know how this works. Let me show you.

On the 7.0 points scale, a score of 60-64 is 5 points, 65-69 is 6points, and 70-above is 7 points. Meanwhile first class on the 7 points scale is from 6.0 to 7.0. second class upper is 4.6-5.9. This means that a student who scores between 65-69 all through his or her years will graduate with a first class. If the student scores less than 60 in few courses, the student will still graduate with an upper credit.

Now let's bring this scenario to the 4.0 scale.

In 4.0,

70+ is 4 points
60-69 is 3 points
50-59 is 2 points
45-49 is 1 point
0-44 is fail

First class on this scale is 3.5-4.0, second class is 3.0-3.49. If a student scores 69 all through his or her years, the student graduates with exactly 3.0 (note that it was 6.0 on the 7.0 scale, and was first class, but here, second class upper!).

Now if the student mistakenly score less than 60 in a course, the GPA no longer completes 3.0, it'll be 2.99 and hence, second class lower! (It'd have been upper in the 7.0 scale!)

So there you go.

Meanwhile, I'm a final year student in UI, and I know how it works very well. We have debated on the abortion of the 4.0 scale several times, but I guess it's here to stay!

No polling booth on social media, especially on Nairaland.com, please get your Permanent Voter's Card (PVC).
Your vote matter, if not they will not bribe you with loaves of bread, onebar of soap, garri and so on.
We must do our part, if agberos and touts can strategise, we can do better.
Your vote determines your future. grin grin grin
.

I did my registration five years ago. I couldn't wait to collect my PVC because I moved to another State. According to the information on my inec portal, the card is available at the inec local government office where I registered.

My question now is; will I still be able to retrieve my card if I visit the place even after 5 years? Will I get my card immediately? I'm thinking of traveling because of it.
